Good analysis but I have to disagree that the Swans “deserve” a premiership. No one deserves anything. You have to earn it, and the Swans just aren’t hard enough or tough enough to win a flag, which plays out in their embarrassing Grand Final performances during the past decade (2016 being an exception) …

I’ve said this many times but, John Longmire should’ve been given his marching orders five years ago as he is basically the AFL equivalent to NRL coach Ricky Stuart as they were excellent players during their careers but only won one premiership at the Sydney Swans and the Sydney Roosters in 2012 and 2002 respectively due to being handed the teams that their previous coaches Paul Roos and Graham Murray had built after those two respective coaches departed the clubs in 2010 and 2001 and it makes me absolutely sick that Horse has been re-signed twice since 2019 after he had missed out on the finals for the first time in his career.

Playing on a postage stamp size ground all season. Where their very good mids just bang goals from the 35 metre centre square so have no real need for a decent tall forward. Get on a big deck and McDonald and Amarty get exposed. The mids can’t slot them through from the middle so easily. So the winning blue print isn’t so effective. Papley trying to start wrestles with water bottles and blades of grass. Carrying on a like pork chop but absolutely terrified after McCartney staunched him. I feel like they definitely got the raw end of the umpiring in 2016 but it seemed everyone wanted the Cinderella story of the Dogs winning it from 7th and the Cats were just a better side at that point in 2022 but they 100% stunk it up in 2024.
