The real issue with daily weigh-ins is that changes in weight from one day to the next are influenced by a lot of variables that aren't that relevant to what you're really trying to gauge. How hydrated you are is obviously a big one. Also, eating a few carrots before bed might be a worse choice than having a beer before bed if that number the next morning is the primary thing you care about, even though the carrots are obviously a lot healthier. Granted, this isn't entirely unique to tracking body weight, almost anything that can be quantified can be gamed (to some degree).
