- I have put together this beginner's guide and tutorial for the DJI Mavic Air 2 to help new pilots get up and flying quickly with their new drone. The DJI Mavic Air 2 is going to be a popular choice for new pilots due to its low price but powerful capabilities. I'm going to sound like an ahole but my dad just bought me one the other day with extra flight bonus. I wanted a mini but he thought it looked flimsy. Anyway it's awesome to have one, but there's all these obstacles now like registration, taking a test to get a license for commercial use. Also where I can or cannot fly this thing. It's like this very expensive toy with restrictions 😐

This was simple and great pace of his teaching. I just got my Mavic Air Two. I ordered the fly more kit. WHich i highly recommend since it has the charging x3 battery with three batteries kit. I just went thru the preliminary charging of battery and setting up the Rotors Propellers. Thanks for the instructions. Ran out of time so will pick it up tomorrow.

Mine is arriving in the next few days. Upgrading from my Mavic Mini which I've had since Christmas. Mini was a fabulous first drone but I need something bigger and more powerful (you haven't seen bad weather until you've seen the west coast of Ireland). Using my mini to film videos for my rowing club and general adventures. One thing to note though was recently I got some fabulous footage of a friendly dolphin which lives in the bay. The mini was so small I managed to get just 4 meters above its head!!!!!!
Marcus Hogan Me too Marcus, just got my air 2 yesterday, got a mini for Christmas as well. Love the mini and camera but wanted a more advanced and powerful drone. One short flight with the air 2 yesterday and wow! In normal mode it’s way peppy! Enjoy! Jim
I went out today in a stiff breeze that had me a bit worried. Air 2 did not seem to mind, though! I was going to get a Mini and just put up with worrying about wind but I'm glad I went for the Air 2 now.
Would just luv to do Aran Islands with a drone!!!

Fun fact: switching the controller stick configuration makes the drone easier to control I feel because it becomes like a console controller in a fps game.
In a console game, We move around with the left stick and we turn around with the right stick in a console game. This makes the learning curve easier to manage =)

Rob Fisher I don’t have the air 2. I have the mini, and on the mini, mode 3 was the best for me. Default I think is mode 2?

I bought this unit yesterday. Yesterday I set it up, indoors; today I launched it for the first time ever flying one. It was so easy to fly! I made one mistake however, I calibrated it by rotating it the wrong way. I didn't know at the time but I couldn't view anything through my unit camera. It recorded ok but I couldn't see where I was going. About five hours later I discovered that when I calibrated it, I calibrated it by spinning it clockwise instead of counter clockwise. This makes all the difference if you want everything to work properly. Aside from that, this is a fantastic drone! I can't wait to begin experimenting with all its capabilities.

I have literally just received my first ever drone which is the Mavic Air 2, this is fantastic, thanks so much. Currently charging up the battery and controller. I can't wait.
Another great beginner feature is the direction icon at bottom center. It shows the direction to the drone and the orientation of the drone. If you lose site and can't figure out the path home with the first person view, you can still get it back.

Thanks for this! As a total novice this made me a lot more comfortable for when my Air 2 actually arrives (hopefully soon!). The nice clear shots of the equipment, screen walk-through and your patient pace made it easy to understand. Still a lot to learn I know, but now I can get it up in the air without having the thing burst into flames right off the bat :-)

Thank you. All of these other--for beginner--vids never mentioned that when the batteries and controller are fully charged the lights go out. It took me a couple of replays to figure out the word 'out' when you said it, but at least I did get it, so thanks.

Awesome. I've just received my Mavic Air 2 combo and I've been too scared to try it out but this will certainly help and watching your video has given me some confidence. Note - I've never had or flown a drone before and to be honest I was even too scared to take the gimbal cover off! Great clear and helpful video :)

I'm glad they redesigned the controller, especially how you mount the smartphone. I remember in previous controllers, I would always have to remove my phone from the case, which wasn't difficult, but a pain each time.

GREAT beginner video - thanks! Just subscribed! Very valuable for me as I and now getting serious about buying a drone - finally. It seems like the tech is mature now and easy to use. Look forward to reviewing your other basic videos on flying and filming. One suggestion from watching this video is I found my neck was turned during the last part of this video because I was trying to see the iPhone screen which was at an awkward angle. 😉
