    When you think about it, Spirit Tracks has one of the highest stakes final boss fights of any Zelda game. If they lose, there's no way to banish him to the sacred realm. There's no Twilight Realm to banish him to. Nothing. Malladus claims that in just a few hours, he'd be able to lay ruin to the whole world. Ganondorf couldn't do that in seven years. This is also the only game where it feels like Zelda actually helps. Sure in Ocatina of Time she holds him still in a cutscene, and in Twilight Princess and Wind Waker she'll shoot some arrows, but in this game, she'll not only shoot arrows, she even runs to help you force the sword into his skull in the very end instead of just watching. It creates a final boss that actually feels like it has gravity behind it. Zelda is not just popping in at the end to help a little in a final boss fight, she's a companion there to see it through with you to the very end. You've seen the world together, met people all over it, you just saw a friend die, this is about protecting everyone you've met and grown to care about, this is about making your friend's death not be in vain and getting vengeance, and this is about protecting each other in the moment. And this music fits it perfectly.

      You have a point. Spirit Tracks' Zelda is by far the most overtly active in the series.
      But... Four Swords Adventures' ending had you with a similar defensive against a similarly invincible enemy, and even if she doesn't use the bow or help deal the final blow, she still made the sealing sphere to finish Ganon off.

      It's not just the final battle. My favorite thing about Spirit Tracks was the fact that for the first time in the series history, Zelda really earned being the titular character. Having her be on your side during the entire adventure was really refreshing. Sincerely, this game was great, it's a shame that the overworld putting you on a litteral tracks felt so limitating for many players.

    After learning the lore, and playing so many of the games, it truly feels like Demise’s curse has met its match in this timeline.
    The ancient land of Hyrule has sunk, Ganondorf and Vaati with it. The Triforce has faded from memory, if not imagery. The foreign demon of the sea, Bellum, was roused and slain by the last hero. And now Malladus, Ancient demon buried beneath the earth, has been destroyed. There are no more seals. No more swords. No more evils.
    Perhaps the Demon _will_ return to New Hyrule, some day far into the future, but in this case, the Hero and Princess achieved complete and total victory.

      Man, I never thought of it that way. It makes my favorite final boss battle theme in the series even better. To me this battle always had obvious parallels with the Ganon fight in OoT, except where _that_ battle was intense and dark, this one was upbeat and heroic. In the context of your comment, it makes perfect sense: this battle isn't to merely _imprison_ evil to deal with another day, but to _destroy_ it. Once and for all.
      Link and Zelda aren't just taking down Malladus and saving Hyrule, they're utterly exterminating Demise's curse and creating a healed, bright world in their wake. It's the last battle not just of Spirit Tracks, but an _entire timeline,_ so the "LET'S DO THIS!" feel of the music _completely_ fits. And to have _the_ single best-developed Link/Zelda relationship of the series be the ones to deliver the final blow together? I couldn't imagine a better way to vanquish evil forever. In a way I hope we never get another game in the Adult Timeline, because Spirit Tracks ends it on such a nice note.

    • @nathanielburkett9400
      @nathanielburkett9400 2 года назад +16

      @@ashanark5782 Add to that, Malladus as the final boss just _feels_ like the curse’s last, dying gasp attempting to drag the Hero and the Princess down with itself.
      He has no connection, or even resemblance to Demise, or Ganon, or Vaati. He’s a completely unrelated demon driven to defeat ages ago by spirits and prophets utterly unrelated to the Golden Goddesses. It feels like the curse is _settling_ for him, that it doesn’t have any other options. There’s no history with the Triforce or its wielders, nothing _personal_ driving the conflict onwards.
      There may come a time in the future, one in which the curse, the Calamity, comes calling once more, a time in which it’s recovered the strength it needs to spur on another evil. But in this era of New Hyrule, freed from the expectations and ghosts of the past, I think the Hero won a victory he never has before.

      @@nathanielburkett9400 it almost does kinda feel like the curse is on the verge of breaking, doesn't it? All it took was the... total annihilation of the... old... world...

    • @nathanielburkett9400
      @nathanielburkett9400 Год назад +5

      @@literallyanangrymoose7717 It was established in the end of Wind Waker, yes. The Adult Timeline, the world the Hero of Time left behind, somehow didn’t get their new Link in time to catch Ganondorf escaping his prison and causing an age of darkness once more.
      The Hero’s Spirit must’ve needed some time to recover after the timeline got split in three, since a new hero only popped up well after the Golden Goddesses flooded the continent. Come to think of it, Twilight and Link to the Past had quite a time gap of their own after OoT.
      Point being, there was nothing to be done for the old world. Without a Link, the only think the Golden Goddesses seem to have been able to do was pull an Atlantis, and reinstating the old world order wasn’t going to happen ethically, even had Ganondorf not got his hands on the Triforce. The old world is gone, and it was time to move on.
      New Hyrule, new people, new gods, and new monsters. Same old curse though, up to a point at least. Demise is bullshit, that was a dying curse, he was _exhausted,_ and it’s still strong enough to survive the rise and fall of consecutive civilizations.

    I will always remember spirit track for his final boss theme. Everytime I hear it I have chills. What make this theme great is how the first and second phase theme are more darker, but when you arrive here it's almost if the game told you "You can do it, let's join our forces together to save the world". For once the vilain in the game is not just "I'm evil I want to conquer the world and be king" he actually want to destroy the world by using an actual demon. Even sometime we are limited due to the track, it is an underrated game that I will always love with my heart.

    I just LOVE the amount of love and care this game has gotten recently. Phantom Hourglass was my first ever Zelda game, it introduced me to the series. And this was my second game. And I think it gets way more hate then it deserves. The Controls really arent that difficult. The songs are amazing(though a lot of these games have great music) And Zelda actually does things in this game. She feels like a genuine person.
    And some puzzles are really creative. Like the "press the seal" in PH, where you have to close the ds and reopen it. And the Multiplayer mini games are great too.
