10:35 Grendel was one of the few books I liked from school. We read that after Beowulf and I liked it better. I thought the perspective shift was cool. Sweet lantern light too.... Can you epoxy the clip on?
Magnetic Hook from the marketing pics is so it can be placed standing on its tail like a candle. I like that. If the magnet was strong enough to stick to surfaces I'd like that even more. Maybe a twist lock to get the hook on/off as needed. If it's a weak magnet maybe skip it altogether.
Great honest review as always. As a rescue or edc light it's useless for me but as a tent light I can see value. I like to read at night when I go out. For a tent light it's perfect, even the weak detachable magnet is fine. It makes it easy to grab if you just need to search for something in your tent or to take it with you for a quick call of nature in the middle of the night.
This wouldbe good hanging from a ridgeline while laying in the hammock, and then you can plug in your phone and watch porn while in the woods. I mean, you can watch whatever you want, so might as well be porn. They could market this towards women more if they added a vibration function. The design reminds me of that vibrator wand women use that plugs into the wall. I would have got this for my old lady for Christmas if it had that feature. Not only could she send out an SOS, but she could also charge the phone she's watching porn on with the vibrator she's using while waiting for help to arrive. Come on Thrunite, get it together!
With respect... I think your missing the point that it is not a flashlight to clip to your pack, it is a lantern to hang from inside your tent or pull the clip off and stand on a table. I agree it should not be so easy to turn on accidently, almost every battery powered light should not be easily turned on by accident. Huge props to Thrunite for the battery bank option, I wish edc flashlights would have this option. It seems a no brainer feature to have on an edc light, of course it would not make sense on a tiny keychain light with too small of battery capacity. A part solution is to modify it for your preference. Something like epoxy the clip cap to the body and then wrap gorilla tape around the cap and body form added security and to store some tape if you need it later. You still would have to deal with it accidently turned on. I plan to buy one but I will just keep it disassembled in a ziplock bag in my pack and use a flashlight if i need to have quick light.
That looks to be more of a tent/canopy down light than a survival light. The detachable clip is so you can detach or reattach the light without having to unclip it. Oh and most importantly, I wholeheartedly agree with the quick click on function. That could easily click on in your pocket or in your bag. Long click for on off and quick click for cycling through the modes makes more sense. Holding the button down to cycle through modes must be annoying. Lastly, it should have a lockout function to prevent accidental battery drainage.
Those are good issues to point out. Maybe to add a button cover - like the covers on pepper spray - will keep the button from pressing by the minimal bump. Many small changes that can make it a better product. Hopefully they will see this and consider those changes.
i wish someone would just make a basic double aa flashlight outside the tactical realm. I want something thats 100 lumens with two settings white light, redlight and priotize battery life while being realible.....i hate the current trend of super bright lights that lasts 1 hour
I'm with you there. Seems like the goal is to have a flashlight that will light the dark side of the moon. My Nitecore Tube recently died. It had a 1 lumen setting; plenty good to see to keep from stumbling. Higher setting if you needed it. The companies all put 3 modes, 4 modes, then list the highest one, but leave you ignorant of what the lowest setting is. That irritates me.
Thrunite is on the right track here, but really needs refinement, and never should have left the drawing board in this form. Even with the charging capabilities, it would only be considered a redundancy at best. Still, the recharging function is it's redemption. Well done Thrunite, but you could have done better. Maybe add a little bulk, and throw a FM/weather radio function on there.
You know, I've always wanted to make a serious EDC flashlight that looks like a shrunken head...But I'd settle for the V2 of this if they took your advice on improvements😂 Looks like it's got potential

I’ve watched two of your videos. Good, practical reviews. You don’t beat around the bush with unnecessary gab and digressions. Nice style. Good job.
thank you, glad you enjoy our content

it is a great little light to carry in your pack, i jsut hated the name they gave it because i see it as very innacurate
Maybe a magnet but then a cam so you give it a twist and it locks On the carabiner hook.
good idea

Have you read the Dresden Files?
no doesnt ring a bell
There a replacement out yet or better option?
I know they released a new version but I haven't looked into it

most definitely. cant wait for them to improve this design
Mine is already acting up after just a few months of use
I am looking for the weight of only the "lightbulb" part. I would greatly appreciate for help to find out how many grams that part weigh?
Appreciate the intel

Great point!

definitely rocking this in my edc pack and eagerly await an improved version
Weld the clip, or tape it, problem solved B)
