This podcast reminded me of why I was a jr fan all these years, I could tell just by his body language during his races week in and week out the kind of person he was, that so many could relate to, genuine and kind at his core, flawed like most of us, most likely would have a couple of chips at the top level had it not been for situations out of his control. I miss seeing him on the track, I root for elliott now and in some ways he reminds me alot of dale but just like big E there will be only one dale jr and I am grateful for all those years of getting to watch him race. Big congrats on all your success dale!🤘
I believe his fear in failing stems from the tremendous need he felt to please his father. Sr. set the bar, and Jr. was always trying to attain that standard.
Jnr is the son of a legend, he is a legend himself, he has a few dollars in the bank ,but one thing he has which money cant buy is inner beauty, he is a special kind of human being!! I am an English guy living in Europe, and have dreamed my whole life of visiting the States and watching Nascar, I have seen everyone in F1 for the past 35 years and Le Mans 24hrs etc etc but it makes me sad that I have Never, and never will see an Earnhardt race in Nascar!
Best thing i ever heard him say is when he negotiating with Hendricks he time him "i got more money then I'll ever need i just want to race, so ill leave this to you and Kelly to talk it over"
Try not to miss the Now. I was very fortunate to work in Nascar for 4 years. I miss my racing family the most. 1997-2001. Every weekend... in that garage area is your family. One of my favorite memories is having a conversation with Dale Sr. Watkins Glen Test 2000. After practice was over.... everyone pretty much has to use the restroom. Well if you know anything about the Glen... it is so out of date. Dale and i were in this long line holding it. Well we started a conversation and we almost pissed ourselves because we were laughing. Those couple of minutes were the best. Remember today matters. Dont Miss It!
I don’t have a “driver” anymore since you retired. I have a few I like but I haven’t bought any of their merch. You were my driver through everything. You will always be driver, driving or not.
Selfishly, I am thrilled that I will get to see\hear Junior's thoughts on Racing matters for the rest of my life. I have him age-wise by 20 someodd years. Watching him and his family grow on SM and listening to his thoughts on racing...his understanding of the HISTORY of American Oval racing...will forever be a tie to my mom, dad, and grandfather and their love of racing. Mom passed in December. Dad and I continue to be fans of racing of all the things. Junior may run a 'one off' race in the future. Whether he does or doesn't, Junior will always be THE NASCAR Historian until they put me in the ground. After that, I'll ask his dad.
@@larrywt656 Pretty disgusting to see him occupying a seat in a good car, when all he has to his name is two ARCA wins and zero talent. Daddy's money trumps talent anymore, unfortunately.
If Josh Berry never gets to run another Xfinity race again, he still gets to earn a living racing late models fulltime for Dale Jr. At the end of the day, he’s still living the dream. It’s all about perspective.
@@ryanh-c7i Yeah, and my perspective as a NASCAR fan is that I want to see the cream rise to the top. That's becoming rare these days. Low talent teenagers with daddy's money shouldn't get major opportunities over the best late model race car drivers in the nation.
Every race team has a back story. The fans have no idea what it takes to put a car on the track. The amount of work and time and money it takes to put a car on the track week after week would surprise the fans. This true from NASCAR to the street stocks at your local dirt track. So people give them all the credit they are due, they deserve it.
I wish I could get Jr's attention with my simulator build. I think it is a phenomenal prototype to be able to give people a realistic Sim-Racing experience. I've taken it to a few tracks and people LOVED it. A truly immersive experience and captures your attention 100%
I get excited about Josh winning (2 races now) because he is living so many racers dreams. It's refreshing to see a guy who started by working hard and paying dues for a long time finally get his chance. Then to actually do something great with that opportunity is the cherry on top. Josh will win most popular xfinity driver in 2022 and I hope it helps him get sponsored to get into a decent cup series ride. Guy is plenty good enough to drive cup. Even if he stays in xfinity, I think thats a lot better opportunity for Josh than the late models
If it where to be Dale Jr. behind the wheel, sponsors would come a’knockin. I think he is playing it smart by staying safe right there behind that mic. Love the podcast
I’ve watched a couple of these now and I just now noticed the 01 All-Star body panel on the back wall, has to be one of my favorite schemes. I was too focused on the diecast on the tables because I got an addiction to those things and particularly Budweiser so to cheer JR on is one hell of a fun time especially back in his DEI days and that sexy 8 rod
We miss you too Boss. But you have to take care of yourself. You've given us plenty of precious priceless memories, so don't feel the need to do more for us. It's time to take care of yourself now.

Junior I miss driving too man. It's been 11 years since I sat in a race car. I finished 6th in the standings in the 4 cylinder Truck Series at Beach Ridge Motor Speedway in 2009 up here in Maine. In a truck we built from pure stock off the road 1992 Toyota pickup before they had model names. We did great considering all the other trucks that had funding and way better equipment. I think about racing all the time and the day I get back it to finally better my career best which was a 2nd on dirt in 1992 Toyota Camry. See that checkerd flag first will surely be a moment of emotion. I want to get back at it because I know I will win.
I miss you driving too,I miss war you practice listening you on your radio while practicing, listening to your radio while driving the race I learned so much from you,I miss it all it was something I looked forward to every week, but I don't miss you getting hurt and not telling anyone❣🌞
Man, i miss Mooresville! Loved it there. Ya'll were like 3 minutes from my house on shinsville rd. Coffee in the morning hearing racecars roaring at 8 am. 🍻🍻🍻
Jr your driving career may be over but you're so much more than a driver ! Being a driver alone does not define in totality who you are. That's only a part of who you are.
Dale I can really relate to how you feel about having to retire early due to a medical conditiuon. it is always something that weighs on me about how good I could have been. I raced motocross in Montana and when I finally figured out how to get over the fear of 30-40 bikes going into that first turn i started winning race after race and the worst thing happened. My best friend[( who got my mom talked into letting me race ( i was 14 at the time)], and I had just came home from a race were practicing (his parents owned a ranch so we had our own track) and i was at home changing a jet in my carb and he was at the track and about the time he was headed home from the practice track i was headed to the track and we hit head on. needless to say it ended my carrer. it was devastating. his dad the next year was going to totally sponser us to go race the callifornia circuit. He was going to buy us two bikes apiece anjd have them totally set up for us but that accident ruined it for me and Geoff didnt want to go without me going also. so that was totally a shitty way to end my carrer.
Jr, I hope you stay safe for yourself, Amy, and the girls, and stay out of a car except for one time a year. Your father I just saw a small clip ony him from a scientist and he didn't didn't pay attention to the signs as you did, then the shock happened. God sends messages I'm thankful you did when you did, I'm a nascar fan , when anything happens to any of you to me it's like I loose a member of the family. God bless you and your family.
Dale Jr. got to be one of the coolest rich men around doesnt flaunt it so down to earth stay that way Jr. not arrogant definitely miss him not driving matter of fact quit watching Nascar Races since he retired
I get it,retirement is not for sissies, lol. Maybe sometime, like in golf setup a seniors series, 4 or so races at a few major events. Nostalgia is a huge factor in our love of the sport. Doesn’t need to be cup cars or expensive vintage, just seeing y’all running and tapping, ( not necessarily banging) each other for 40 or 50 laps, sweet, might sell some extra tickets and merchandise too. Thank you and enjoy your videos.
For Pete’s sake... He can get a concussion and suffer irreversible brain damage in any genre of racing, in just one lap, so stop with the nonsense. Dale Jr had his time. It’s his daughters turn now. At least until he walks them down the aisle. After that, if he wants to potentially screw himself up just to make you folks all warm and fuzzy inside on Sunday afternoons, “knock himself out”, so to speak. But until then, leave him alone.
It's almost like when Dale left us, Rick decided he couldn't watch your dreams fall flat and did what it took to give you the shots you needed. Didn't he say that he refused to let you fail? I'm sure that's the way he felt when you were winning races in his cars.
I believe JR cant move past missing racing during retirement because it was his whole word when it came to his dad . Even outside of the televised races, they had the garage out back behind the grammas house (memaw) ... I can imagine the behind the scenes, the clanking of the tools, the chilling in the garage. .. that all has to be part of it. Doesnt wanna leave behind the world that his father is eternally centered in. I could be.wrong.
The emotion comes from being an intuitive empath dal3. You tune into others emotions as they are your own. So do I. This is a good thing . Even tho most would call it a sign of weakness, its actually the opposite. Practicing your awareness through the emotions is what makes you a likely " intuitive empath ". Or psychic abilities. I think its claircognicense? It's all good. Follow your passion
I miss you driving too, really miss you driving. But growing up there were two things I thought I wanted to do when I grew up, drive a race car, or be a truck driver. I wound up a truck driver. But like you now, I miss driving a truck but there were things about that that I didn't like also. But now I'm 66years old and disabled. So all I can do is miss it. Hang in there. Later.
It's always hard to explain whys to people who have never been in the situation you are trying to explain.the emotions wants and let's say red tape can seem overwhelming at times😢
I’m a new nascar fan, and I’ve come to understand that performance definitely doesn’t always equate to money and sponsorship, and it’s unfortunate but it’s the reality. What I don’t understand is why it’s so hard for guys who are fan favorites to find sponsors sometimes. Everyone loves Josh it seems like. You’d think a sponsor would want to jump on that opportunity, with his loads of talent sort of being just a big plus to them. Or even guys in cup. Everyone loves Matt DiBenidetto. Huge fan favorite. He’s popular. I don’t get why guys like that can’t get sponsors.
I'll be brutally honest so maybe Dale sees this and gets some perspective on why fans constantly say, "Well, just put a deal together..." and also clue some fans in on why it really isn't that easy to do... And it's not to be a smart aleck either. 99.9% of fans will never see 1/3rd of the money Dale Jr. made over his driving career let alone the whole thing. Most average fans look at that fact and say, "well if he has $100 million sitting in his bank account (for argument's sake) why not take $10 mil and stick Josh in the car, he won't even notice it being gone..." What they don't understand is personal wealth is judged by more than $$$ in an account. What Dale's worth, and what he actually has in cold hard cash are two separate things and I don't think a lot of people put two and two together on that one... with the cost associated alone in upkeep of his plane, let alone the race shop, his personal property etc... yeah. I wouldn't go tossing millions (or any amount) around of my own money to put anyone in a race car including myself (or I'd already own a street stock for my local track) #1 Rule of Racing Ownership: If you want to make a small fortune in racing, start with a big one. (Or SPEND SOMEONE ELSE'S MONEY)
A boss says 'do this now', a coach says 'let's win today'. "Put me in coach, I'm ready to drive today." No pressure. Dale will drive when ready or if needed. Let's win one more Dale.......
If I was the lucky one and somehow find myself as the shoe for a NASCAR, car owner celeb or not, there would always be one big thing I would always be greatfull for and that’s the opportunity to have had that shot. Nothing could match that.
Man, i miss Jr behind the wheel. But im so grateful he got to retire healthy and happy. We couldnt have handled another Dale Earnhardt tragedy. Almost had one in the plane crash. Cheers to Jr Nation, and make today great.

Wise man Jr. be thankful. Im so so with you.
I hope eventually Jr turns JR Motorsports into what DEI should have been/was going to be.
I believe his fear in failing stems from the tremendous need he felt to please his father. Sr. set the bar, and Jr. was always trying to attain that standard.
And Jr is unique with his own magic. He never neeed to attain it tbh, but I know the feeling.
Best thing i ever heard him say is when he negotiating with Hendricks he time him "i got more money then I'll ever need i just want to race, so ill leave this to you and Kelly to talk it over"
It was kinda shocking hearing Dale admit how much he is now missing driving. I never thought I'd hear him say it that way.
From the days of Mike's practical jokes to this is quite the journey. Impressive
Stick with Grayson and Berry!!! Both sides of the spectrum!!!!!!! Tell Davis to shut up an use some manners, stop interrupting Legends!!!!!!!
Dale Jr. you are an inherent talent of business and instinct! What a successful story!
I don’t have a “driver” anymore since you retired. I have a few I like but I haven’t bought any of their merch. You were my driver through everything. You will always be driver, driving or not.
Felt that way with Mark Martin. Been drifting ever since.
Dale Jarret was mine
Jimmie say what you want but dude could drive before he lost his breaks
Riley Herbst has Monster Energy backing his whole career while Josh Berry doesn't have enough sponsors to run an entire season.
Riley also has a hugely successful Las Vegas businessman father backing him too.
That's one of the differences between where Jr is vs where Gibbs is.
Every race team has a back story. The fans have no idea what it takes to put a car on the track. The amount of work and time and money it takes to put a car on the track week after week would surprise the fans. This true from NASCAR to the street stocks at your local dirt track. So people give them all the credit they are due, they deserve it.
True, one of the reasons I didn't want to go racing at the end, asides from being broke lol
Yes, Josh Berry is a special kinda guy...and so are you Dale. We miss you out there, too.
This was awesome ! Thx to everyone @JrMotorsports 🤘🏻🏁
DALE!! You’re an awesome guy. You keep doing so much for NASCAR AND EVERYONE IN IT!! Thank you
If it where to be Dale Jr. behind the wheel, sponsors would come a’knockin. I think he is playing it smart by staying safe right there behind that mic. Love the podcast
Dale will win another race someday in the Xfinity series. Victory lane will be incredible
Great show dale and mike. I enjoy listening to the everyday struggles of keeping a race shop running. Not easy
Raise hell and praise Dale. We damn sure miss you too, JuneBug.
The emotion is from your Daddy and you.. You race to win brother. All we can ask for is happiness, That's why we love you. Well.. I forgot. . We miss racing also!!
This is awesome being able to listen and watch this channel! Glad we can and get all these stories!! It really makes me with podcasts and videos like this were around when dale sr, Richard petty and all these legends were around! Could you imagine the story’s there would be and the conversations between legends like that! Definitely glad yall do it now!
The euphoria of memory, as a friend described it to me, speaking to past experiences and relationships
We would love to see ya run a race or two each year. We'd love to see you do more then one podcast per week. You shows are as good as your racing 😝
We all miss watching you race too man. Your safety is more important and the reason you retired everyone understands.
then shock the world and come back..you came back a few races and placed good. you still got it.
We miss you too, June Bug. Very happy for Josh!
Guess what JR? We miss you, and Jeff G and Smoke
Anit that the truth
I'm glad Tony is still racing. He just won a All Star race. He is getting faster and faster in a wing car
Amen brother
“OH” !!
They need a Seniors Series.
I Stay listenin to the Dang Dale Jr. Download!
Love Jr..... He is Truly a Chip off the Ol' Block 🤗
I miss you driving too,I miss war you practice listening you on your radio while practicing, listening to your radio while driving the race I learned so much from you,I miss it all it was something I looked forward to every week, but I don't miss you getting hurt and not telling anyone❣🌞
I wanna see you drive in the next Freedom 500!!!
Not worth the risk, but I would love to see him meet up with Cleetus
I saw you in Daytona, Dega, and saw your Dad win yr before @ fall Dega race. Thankful.
Josh Berry Is a Great race car driver and a great guy! A fellow All Pro Sim Racer!
You are an incredible person Jr! keep it up.
U rock dale jr will we see more lost Speedways
Man, i miss Mooresville! Loved it there. Ya'll were like 3 minutes from my house on shinsville rd. Coffee in the morning hearing racecars roaring at 8 am. 🍻🍻🍻
Really enjoyed. Thanks.
By far the best episode yet!
That missing racing NEVER goes away no matter how long you are away.......and no matter what level you attained
Is JR. running a race this year? Always love it when he comes back for a short track and runs good too.
I’m 54 and miss playing baseball as a kid!
I always look at Dale Jr shoes. 👞
Dale Jr. got to be one of the coolest rich men around doesnt flaunt it so down to earth stay that way Jr. not arrogant definitely miss him not driving matter of fact quit watching Nascar Races since he retired
Perpetuating my statement that Dale Jr is the coolest dude.
We miss You driving too brother.
Hey, Dale, you can live vicariously through me. Or we can race on iRacing, just a regular guy racing regular virtual cars.
JR Nation for life
I’m a new nascar fan, and I’ve come to understand that performance definitely doesn’t always equate to money and sponsorship, and it’s unfortunate but it’s the reality.
This is the most interesting channel !!
Be cool to see dale in the next freedom 500 hell ya brother
