I worked in an arcade and can confirm I would take any opportunity to chase someone because its more fun than not chasing someone. One time I caught a guy and didn't know what to do so I just said "guess you know you're banned?" And then walked back as slowly as possible
You know he needs money when he uploads more than once in a week
Funny thing is I got called into my managers office at my old job cause apparently me saying I would "Try and catch a shoplyfter" if I was watching them about to run out is a bad thing, didn't give me a reason for it being bad so you are 100% right to saying you would do nothing.
That's cause the store has insurance for theft. Not worth risking your life for a company. Manager didn't want the hassle of paperwork and explaining how their worker got injured.
Or even if the criminal is the one that gets injured. Imagine you grabbing at him, he stumbles and hits his head and dies in a freak accident. You've now killed a person over petty theft. Or they get injured and sue you. Not worth it.

It's not that they "cba". When you work in retail you're told not to chase shoplifters because you have no way of knowing if they're armed or dangerous. The company aren't liable if something happens to you when you chase someone off the premises.

Apparently if my mums stories are to be believed, when I was a around 4 or 5 i walked around the the local shop and pinched an ice lolly, went home sat back down in front of the telly and ate my stolen loot. Not sure how true this is to be honest but the baby thief reminded me of this.

That vape clip reminded me of a buddy who did the same thing before vapes were existent. They had display of the different chewing tobacco when he was 16. Kid from our highschool chased him a block caught up with him so Jeff picked him up and body slammed him into the concrete threw some chew pucks at him and ran off.. Jeff died of sucidie 10 years latter
