@@shelbyjadan I think it’s unethical to film these people, primarily because they’re still young and being actively encouraged to participate in these things, but if they were older (eg, late 20s or in 30s) and choosing to behave like this in front of a camera crew for television then I’d say they were pretty much signing up for the same sort of thing. Like, if you’re agreeing to be filmed having a lap dance or fall over drunk in the streets it’s probably better to be in the context of a reality TV show where you’re being set up than a documentary. Also, I’m not sure a small documentary is necessarily going to be less popular than a relatively small reality TV show, but idk what they were told. Apparently they knew exactly what was going to happen beforehand, which makes sense legally and consent-wise and why people would agree to behave this way and how the show knew they could get the parents of those who participated to go along with things. Most reality TV is fake. This is apparently no exception. They chose to behave that way in front of their parents _and_ for those who later watch the show.
