- "The Nutcracker" is a classical ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1892. The ballet's story is based on the fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E.T.A. Hoffmann. It has become a cherished holiday tradition worldwide and is often performed during the Christmas season.
Mikhail Pletnev, a renowned Russian pianist and conductor, created an arrangement of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's famous ballet "The Nutcracker." Pletnev's arrangement is known for its virtuosic piano passages and innovative interpretations while retaining the essence of Tchaikovsky's original composition.
In his arrangement, Pletnev captures the magical and festive atmosphere of the ballet, bringing out the rich melodies, colorful orchestration, and lively dance rhythms. He skillfully adapts the orchestral score to the piano, showcasing his technical prowess and artistic sensitivity.
Pletnev's version of "The Nutcracker" for piano offers a fresh and captivating perspective on Tchaikovsky's beloved holiday masterpiece, making it a compelling and popular choice for pianists and audiences alike.
Dedicated to Martha.

Hello! Thanks a lot for sharing, do you have the midi file where you get the synthesia file? I'd like to learn it, thank you:)
❤
Is this an arrangement? The parallel 6s in the beginning seem truncated, for instance the 4th note on the right hand is B-G, a 6th. You only play the G. Right before the top note on each of the beginning runs too. It's a 5th, G-D, but you only play the D.
In the next run, you skip the E in the 5th, then you drop the G in the parallel 6 right before the top note.
This does not seem right...
