The contempt law in Ireland is absurd. No judge should have the power to jail a person for the rest of his life for contempt. Many jurisdictions have jury trials for contempt of court. Meanwhile in many violent assault cases with grevious injury, the perp waltzes out of court with a suspended sentence leaving the victim distraught in the court room. As a Catholic, I considder this persecution of the Burke family to be appalling. As for the origin of the story, the use of transgender pronouns, I would not feel as strongly as the Burke`s because I would be less certain of what is right. Jesus told us to love one another. Very often, that is easier said than done but at least it is a simple enough instruction to understand. Is Enoch Burke acting out of love? If so, is he certain he is doing what God wants him to do? Would he do more good by giving everything he has to the poor? Again, not an easy thing to do but at least the poor would get it and not the state and giving to the poor is a simple and definate instruction Jesus gave. There is no ambiguity there. The things Jesus did not give explicit instructions on are not important. If they were, Jesus would have given us the instruction in a way that is simple and not open to interpretation.

When one does anything to the weak, you do it to the Lord. When the babies are murdered who God created them in the womb, and how will we answer on judgment day. It is better to speak up now and lose our lives for the kingdom than to allow this evil to perveil. If anyone thinks calling boys girls are anything, they decide what is the point of the country. If we can't protect the innocent we deserve judgment and I only hope the people will stop fearing and speak up and call it out for what it is of the devil and demons. At this stage, I can’t help but wonder if someone should have called for a psychiatric evaluation for the poor lad early on-if only to save him from himself. Even a judge asked at one point whether he was being controlled, which suggests to me that the judge might have had his own suspicions.
Now, if this is all about deeply held religious beliefs and gender identity issues, as many suggest, it still doesn’t explain why other siblings seem to be involved in unrelated dramas. They seem to share a knack for courtroom theatrics-physically wrestling with Gardaí, defying judges, being dragged out of courts, and racking up fines kicking the arse of €200,000 making national headlines in the process.
From afar, it’s hard to see any form of strategy here, coherent or otherwise , now maybe there is, I don't know , I am not anywhere even near as well educated or smart as anyone in the Burke family, but I do know, If I’d tried even half of this, my own family would’ve had me carted off in a white van long ago.

Hi Terry, I'm 68 and struggle to (fully) understand transgenderism, but I also understand the right of all people especially young people to be treated with respect and dignity. If young people are not respected then we are laying poor foundation for the future. You can refer to a group of people in the plural as them or they but not an individual. So I believe the Dept. should revisit this situation?
You is both plural and singular and non gender, and should not be contentious?
We have separation of Legislator and Judiciary, this is vital to a proper democracy, the Courts apply the law as legislated. Enoch Burke was jailed I believe for trespass? He is in my opinion, attempting to use the courts for political purposes which is not their function or in my opinion appropriate. If he believes the law is not fit for purpose then if he should consider how to campaign for change in a manor most law abiding people would.

    • @terrygorry
      @terrygorry  2 дня назад +18

We are in the same boat then. I struggle to understand lots of things to do with sexuality and young people today.
But I think, along with the Court of Appeal, that a teacher who is acting in 'loco parentis' to his pupils has a high duty of care.
I also think an employee shoud follow the reasonable direction of the employer.
I also think that anyone is entitled to enjoy their private property free of trespassers, and they have a constitutional right to do so.
I agree with the broad thrust of your comment and believe hubris has a role to play in this employment dispute.
For that is all that it is.

There are things my employer does that I don't agree with but so long as they keep paying me, I'll toe the party line. If Enoch doesn't like the guidelines from the school/Dept Education, then no one was stopping him leaving and perhaps setting up his own school? The Burkes appear to love the limelight. I first noticed them when Ammi had a falling out with her then employer Arthur Cox and that ended up in the WRC I believe, where Ammi also had a go at the WRC Adjudicator. In no way whatsoever was he sent to prison for his religious beliefs or because he refused to identify or refer to a child as “They”. I will stick my neck out here and say that possibly half the country, myself included, agrees with his stance and his comments in this sorry saga. The manner in which he is going about it is the problem. In the early stages of this case, a judge told him he may well have a case in his favour. I believe there is a legal procedure and path to pursue such a case. However, Enoch Burke and his family are having none of it. Come hell or high water they are going to deal with this case the way they want to. A very informative video Terry . Thank you.

EB 'completely inappropriate behaviour'??? it's not JUST a result of his beliefs, which are i might add protected under the Irish consitution, and EU law, no one has to accept transgenderism, it's entirely up to people to decide for themselves. NO ONE CAN BE SACKED for saying no, your mistaken, no one anywhere can MANDATE YOUR SPEECH, it's simple. whether you accept transgenderism or not, the kid in question was not even his pupil, he was never likely to meet him, his parents didn't know about the issue till it went to a courtroom either. He's being paid because he's no case to answer to, the longer it goes on, the more fines he faces but in the end it will back fire, and the tax payer will have to pay him millions, after that there's the other Burke's cases which will go the same way, and again the tax payer will end up paying millions in compensation. All thanks to a few ideologue tyrants who think they can mandate everyone's speech.

It goes with freedom of expression, lately there has been attempts by government to curtail both here in Ireland, with our neutrality no longer safe, our government are taking us on a path that the 1916 men and women fought to keep us from. I saw what happened in Coolock to innocent protestors, from a window up high, what i witnessed is nothing short of a disgrace to the Irish flag, what's happening to the WHOLE BURKE FAMILY is also a disgrace to democracy alone. the Bolsheviks would be proud, except we're not under Putin's rule.

@@FrankNSense-t8t - We all know if Mr Burke was a Muslim and imprisoned
      - all of ' LIBERAL ' minded Ireland - would be incensed and massive political
pressure would have been put in place for his immediate release from Prison .
However - he is deemed a Right Wing Christian crackpot and the very opposite has occured . So called ' Liberal ' Ireland quietly revels in his imprisonment .
Its all part of the ' Woke ' agenda - which we as Irish people have embraced
over the last 10 years. Over the coming generation this Woke SH*TE will have a

Please tell me in Ireland are the Judiciary above the Law of the Land or the Irish Constitution ?
My example for saying this is Cliftongate ( a shindig, golf outing, meal etc.) held in Clifton during Covid which was raided by the Garda who latter issued summonses to SOME attendees, when these came before the court of the land these were struck down by a Judge.
It is my understanding that recently you explained at great length the complexities of a normal individual being able to get Justice……Hand V’s McGregor case….and that the cost of getting justice in layman’s language is prohibitive for the commoner Unless the case proceeded on a “No foul No fee bases” which normally would only be embarked upon IF those involved were confident of winning and which in this instance were correct, not withstanding the probability of an appeal. From your commentaries on legal proceedings it’s difficult to decipher whether you or the Judiciary care about the Truth
Which reading the comments the normal person doesn’t have any difficulty in understanding

According to Scripture it is not possible to support satan, even to speak his name, and to say the name of Jesus at the same time. Then Christ Jesus confirmed that Peter would deny Him before the cock crowed three times. So although the Judge may think that he, and he alone, has the power and the authority to hold an Office without showing predjudice or bias, it was actually founded by God and its Authority is based on God's Principles. And by enforcing laws which he himself has made up, that by doing so his bias, his predjudice and his support of the enemy of our soul cannot be concealed!

Article 44 Irish Constitution: "Freedom of conscience and the free profession and practice of religion are, subject to public order and morality, guaranteed to every citizen". The agents of the Irish state (Gardai, Judiciary etc) have interfered with Enoch Burke's right to his own freedom of concience, free profession and free practice of his Christian belief. Enoch cannot comply with woke ideology because it is repugnant to his (supposedly protected) religious concience and for him, referring to a person by anything other than their biological at birth pronouns is an anathema. Here's the thing: If Burke does not have constitutional protection the you don't either. Are you happy with a tyrannical Government that does not respevct the Irish Constitution?
Do you think that if the matter had related to a jew or muslim being required by the Irish state to eat pork rather than a Christian standing up for his religious beliefs that CAB should swoop in and take theior assets also? By your comment you de-facto urinate on the graves of the men and women that fought and died so that the average joe and Jane bloggs in Ireland would have constitutionally protected rights after 600 years of rule by tyranical dictat. Well done chump. People like you make me sooooo proud to be Irish

LMAO there's a whole load of verses in the Bible that will clearly demonstrate the right of the Court and the wrong of the banshees!
The Judge is there named in the paperwork - but if you go after them and harrass them - then it's yourself and your own nature that's on show - not his!
Just incase you don't believe me - despite your claim of being a Bible basher - here it is in black and white for ye! :)
Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

All of this has nothing to do with Jesus. It’s the Old Testament the Burkes cling to. Enoch ‘s mother and father have done a great disservice to their children, they’ve created inflexible & blinkered young people who cannot tolerate difference and get on and function in a secular society.
