And the one in charge of the dept. should have never let it get this bad..!!! you have to fight for your money to keep your dept running smoothly. Everyone is at fault, the Mayor, Fire Chief, LAFD Union Leaders and Newscum. The entire country saw this failure.

  • @Flackvest
    @Flackvest 13 часов назад +4

    Richard Riordan consolidated the shops to General Services in the late 90's. The LAFD lost control of their shops ever since. It's been a problem. A lot of the mechanics transfer to DWP, LAWA, Port of Los Angeles because they pay more. The LAFD Shops are low tier salary in comparison. The ones left do it out of pride and the love for the Department. They are hard workers creating miracles every day. We wouldn't have a fire department if it wasn't for them. But the LAFD needs better funding. Also, the fire apparatus are not built like they used to be. Sensors, mandated electronics, emissions systems, and frankly less than stellar build quality from the manufacturers contribute to this. The rigs are now hovering north of a million dollars a piece, and sometimes show up from the manufacturer already broken. And have to be sent back, or to their 3rd party dealer here in Southern California. Ambulances are above 100k. And there's the supply chain issue for parts. Pierce Manufacturing in Wisconsin has a two to four year back log for building fire apparatus for fire departments nationwide. Other manufacturers have either limited their production or gone out of business. Other busy fire departments are also having this issue with build quality. Chicago's fleet is a mess. FDNY's boneyard is comparable to ours. They also have to deal with salt corrosion. A concept that is foreign to us. The LAFD runs nearly 2000 calls a day running these rigs into the ground. Engine 57 for example is located in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. They have three ambulances assigned because they are that busy. E-57 alone can run up to 27-30 calls in a 24 hour shift. That's EMS, Rubbish Fires, Structure fires, and other responses. This issue is not something that is new. It's been going on for decades.

The LAFD is some 40+ stations short of the required staffing needed to adequately cover the city. They are severely under funded, under staffed, overworked... all which leads to maintenance, training and preparedness issues. Then you throw in an inadequate water supply, reservoirs and distribution systems into the mix... and all run by incompetent DEI hires operating at their highest levels of Incompetence. All fires start small and anything that’s wet can’t burn. The fire equipment that sits out of service at the fleet maintenance yard in LA is supposed to serve as the reserve fleet to be staffed by off duty firefighters on emergency recall alert during natural or manmade disasters like the LA fires. These Out of Service (O.O.S.) fire engines could have been strategically parked in locations like the Pacific Palisades while they were under Red Flag Fire Advisory and staffed with off duty firefighters on Emergency Recall. Gavin Newsome funds homelessness programs to the tune of $30 Billion but didn’t put $1 dollar towards ensuring adequate fire protection was in place on January 7th 2025 to prevent the largest homelessness crisis in a single day in U.S. History!

My husband says, "I'll elect any second grade teacher to office, " but we're too smart for that! ha ha ha. I love my California. Please help us. Please spend the THOUSANDS of dollars our household pays in just vehicle registration on THE ROADS!!! There are so many things WRONG with California, but I'm not leaving. I have hope...don't know why. It's not great right now.

    OK, so let me get this right. The firetrucks that were already there didn’t have water. I don’t know maybe these firetrucks are gonna bring water or come up with a new place to get water from that’s one thing and I’m looking at this video and I passed that place back in 2011 it looks like the same amount of fire trucks. From back, then I’ve never went by there and seen it empty. I think mother nature is a DEI employee
