    Many thanks for a most interesting presentation, Great to learn about the 1920's diesel - I had no idea of its existence.

    Hooray! At last Mountaineer/The Alco is underway. My favourite childhood engine from the 70's and such an evocative loco.

      well did you know a Replica of the Original mountaineer (the 0-4-0TT from 1863) is being constructed, its supposed to be named "Mountaineer III"

      @@TheSudrianTerrier653 Indeed though I am not fully convinced of the purpose? I have had the artists impression as my screen saver for at least 4 years. An expensive exercise in artificial 19 century railway ornamentation. How much use will it be and why would it be needed with so many little Hunslets on hand?! Still it will look good among its siblings and I will journey to see it!

    Great video. Sad that Dave is no longer with us and I'd like to reiterate what woodgnome said. The Greenwich and District Narrow gauge Railway Society was, and still is, a group of narrow gauge railway enthusiasts, not specifically modellers. Great to hear from old mates and long ago members woodgnome and, in particular, Howard. How are you mate? Haven't seen you since school days.

    Lovely to see a segment on 4415! I just finished my model of the lovely guy and I'm happy to see it covered here!

    Superb update, especially on JSII (can't wait to see this beatie in action).... thanks JW! Query: Are the sandpots (on all the locos) still fully functioning, , or merely decorative these days?
    Nice to hear the late lamented Greenwich Gorilla get a mention in the 4415 segment .... 👍
    Never seen the Alco's pan plate before. This loco, with it's slope sided cab, was being worked hard when I was last there, more decades ago than I care to remember. Fascinating. Glad GyP has been brought back to life too.

      Sandpots on the double engines are fully decorative

    Very nice
    Just wondering is the top end of a double fairlie the end facing Blaenau or Porthmadog?

      Top end is towards Blaenau Ffestiniog

      @Living_Life_RN Год назад

      Easy way to remember is that the top end faces the top of the hill (Blaenau) and the bottom end faces the bottom (Harbour)

      @@Living_Life_RN.... and then someone goes and books a double engine on a charter heading up the Ski Slope! 😲

    I would like to ask; when will James Spooner be running?

    An interesting video, as usual, but Dave High needs a couple of corrections;
    Firstly it was called the Greenwich and District Narrow Gauge Society at the time, railway wasn't in the title then which caused a little confusion with 9.5mm cine fans.
    Secondly describing us as a bunch of modellers is wrong and fails to acknowledge what the society and it's members actually did then. A proportion of the membership were never involved with model railways at all, but were just narrow gauge enthusiasts. We put on our boots and got on with conservation of the Chattenden and Upnor signal that went to Sittingbourne, restoration of the Royal Arsenal gunpowder van, saving of the Furzebrook china clay wagon were all big projects for the very small active membership at the time. You can also add the working parties and volunteering on TR, FR, LBNGR, Brockham museum etc. Two members ended up owning full sized locos ... plus Ted Wade's authorship of seminal works on NG railways. It was far from just being a model club.
