- How To Draw Objects Vanishing into the distance using one point perspective. Foreshortening and perspective for a row of objects vanishing into the distance can be achieved using some simple basic guide lines, a horizon line and a ruler. But this tutorial will also focus on the geometry and understanding behind measuring the distance between regular objects as they diminish.

this is crazy underrated
I just started drawing and my mind is blowed up by this trick. Can’t wait to see the 2 or 3 point perspective, but it’s getting late and I should probably sleep. Thank you for giving all your advice for free and I will watch a lot of tutorials. I came here to learn how to draw anime characters, but I’m here starting from point zero. It will surely be a fun run!
Do I hear Skyrim music in the background?
Great video, by the way, Mikey.
yes this epic song
I could've sworn this was from Oblivion, or maybe they share some tracks?
Yeah, lol it was distracting somewhat but once I confirmed it was Skyrim I was relaxed xD. Then the Drumbeat PTSD FUS RO DAH kicked in... Nice relaxing song till a dragon roar gets in the way....
For anyone who's interested in looking into more of the technical perspective stuff:
The "view point" is the place you the viewer would be standing at if you were inside the scene.
It is called a *station point* .
The *horizon line* is the line your eyes are at.
The line Mikey drew, where the top down view changes into the perspective view, is called an *image/picture plane* .
The process of turning the top down view into perspective view is called *projection* .
The line on which the buildings stand on is called the *ground line* .
An object's edge that is closest to the viewer, touching the ground line, can be used to determine the object's height more accurately, but it's hard to explain how without drawing it :)
The same method works with 2 points perspective:
The vanishing points are positioned on the horizon line for each object (if objects are parallel they can share vanishing points) by drawing lines from the station point, to the horizon line, that are parallel to the object's edges in the top down view.
Where those lines meet the horizon line, those will be your vanishing points.
2 points perspective is a misleading term.
You will have as many vanishing lines as your object has planes (that don't face you head on).
All parallel lines that are not on a plane facing the viewer directly (perpendicular) must meet on the horizon, at a vanishing point.
So a hexagonal building, will have 3 faces showing with 2, or 3, vanishing points, depending on the angle you observe it from.
In other art spheres, the station point is where the viewer is supposed to stand to experience a piece of art.
The more you know!
Max Izrin thanks for clarifying in the comments! ^^
Max Izrin thanks
What o_o
What is this method's name?
@@aljsnzjsjxnkxkxka8862 It's perspective drawing.
Not really a method, more of a set of rules and relations that drawn 3D objects must fulfil in order to not appear warped or twisted.
A series of rules first established by Leonardo De Vinci, if I'm not mistaken.
Hey Mikey. How do you get your hands on the Skyrim ost or is it free to use?

Thanks, sir. Best video around here. Everyone talked about one point perspective but didn't use the math to point out every buildings. Once again, thanks.
You are one of my art teacher , I hope you have a great day and keep up the great work
Very helpful, this is the first perspective tutorial I've come across that explained how to figure out how far the buildings should continue.
Musics from Skyrim ... it's perfect
Why is that I learn more from you in those 10+ minutes long videos you make, than from my art teacher during those four years of "art" lessons"?
art teacher in school want ya to discover your own method of doing thing, but students always rely on the other they forgot how to do it by themselves or they simply think their teacher is bad at teaching they dont even bother thinking of their own method
Problem is: The art teacher wasn't teaching art. She was teaching art history instead, because the curriculum wasn't clear about it, and it wasn't a main subject.
:)
Because most art teachers are hipster posers, and/or they try to teach 9999999 different things. Specialization is where it is at. I like anime/manga style.
@@NymPLUS Discovering your own method as a student is pointless without a solid grasp of fundamentals, which is often what students look to their teachers for. If you can't understand and provide that while someone on RUclips can, then you are a bad teacher.
Perfect timing I'm working on something that needs perspective
I didn't grasp the big picture in the beginning, but once I kept working through it with you, it all made sense. Thank you! Very helpful video
... He lost me at the second part
As usual, awesome and usefull tutorial.
Thank you.
4:16 strangely when i see this exemple, i think to the armory scene in matrix first movie.
Ps: you also get extra thanks for Skyrim ost .
Best raw beginners tutorial. Good quality camera display, great choice of skyrim music.... goes right through the important fundamentals.... I hope you teach more tutorials !!
Thank you, Mikey ! Your tutorials are extremely helpful and brings me a closer to the art I want to draw. Thank you!
Thank you for making this. Most of the perspective tutorials I see don't explain it as well as you do
nice pick on the Skyrim music.
It's so cool!! I really need to start practicing this kinda thing ;^;
Tutorials series are amazing keep the good work 👍
Man that is trippy
Thanks mikey for you video, but what method you use in this tutorial? I want to know more in depth about it, but i don't know the name
I love how you used Skyrim music lol it's a game that helps me relax and let go and I feel that helps me a lot when drawing as well. The two blend just perfect for me so thank you :)
This is super helpful thanks man . I really like ur way of teaching it's great
i have to say this wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it was going to be at the beginning when it was just pencil lines i was confused on what was going where but once the inking and marker was added it was so much clearer thanks mikey :)
Great!
13th ;-; and hi mikey thanks for your helpful tutorials and please sing again in timelapses your singing has unkown powers :D
what what what? this what I've been waiting for.. thanks good Sir Mikey. Looking forward to 2p, 3p
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Is that ambient skyrim music in the background?
is the sound in the background skyrim music?
Hey Mikey, I find your drawing videos really amazing and I would really love to see a video about an image, a face for example, mirrored at a water surface because I am very uncertain how to do this :D
Thank you very much for this class =)
Omg I already feel like an actual artist
Is that Skyrim I hear? Fantastic tutorial!
I was like ''wtf when did I reinstall Skyrim?''
More complicated than it needs to be.
genial garcias .
thats a cool way to do it.
What about if you want to do it from a Single-point Perspective, from the left or right?
So far, this is the only frustrating & confusing class I of yours which I have watched.
You started us viewing from a "Y-Axis", then told us to imagine it from the "Z-axis" which seemed to me to be a "Y" with some matrix guy looking from a cliff at 90 degrees or something.
Please, what is this music?
always liked those kinds of mechanical pencils, girl i had a crush on in school always used the, nice lesson & thanks for the memory !
handy tutorial, but why the scary background music???
If anyone is confused, don't worry, he made a mistake, you should search for "perspective projection" to learn the way to do this properly. The error he made isn't too bad, but it's that the picture plane doesn't intersect the ground line (it could be said that another mistake is that he drew two ground lines, when it should only be one). The reason it still looks good is because the shapes are after translation from their original position. In the perspective view the first buildings are NOT touching the ground line (it can be seen because the actual ground line is the extra ground line he drew, that's why at that line the diagonals become straight vertical lines), but in the top view, in the picture plane the buildings ARE touching the ground line. Because of this translation, the buildings don't need to be aligned in the perspective and top views, and because of this, maybe we could say this is not an error, but an imprecise way of doing it, which still works despite being imprecise. The precise way of doing it requires that the ground line is the same in the perspective and top views.
I finally did it. Fortunately, I do knowledge how to Vanishing Point Perspective. Thank you for Teacher.
Are you going to make a tutorial about 4 points perspective ? (i tried to use it on a very large view and a "lens deformation" and it worked, but a tutorial about it will be useful to improve others guys and myself I think)
HTF do you use uniball eye
Hey! Mikey. Please make a tutorial video on DIGITAL DRAWING .....
thanks i needed this
Nice song choice hahahah
In how much colors do this cheap pencil come???
I can't pay attention because of the frekin Elder Scrolls music ^^"

Skyrim OSt on the BG, is that even legal mate? Will this get demonetize because of that?
doth mine ears deceive me or is that the soothing melody of sweet skyrim background music? mikey knows my weaknesses...
This helps a lot :D
Hello mikey i would like to help in my assignments pleasee. My doctor gave me a plan and he said you have to do this plan at one vanishing point which is at the left as a 3d
Wow , i make some progress today , u are a exelent teacher , thank you very very much !
Cool tutorial as always^^.
Since you do tutorials to nearly everything. There is something I didn't found. Fishy eye perspectiv (at least the camera lense is named something like that)
If you found time I would be happy if you do a tutorial for it.
Is there anything after the drawing fundamentals? I've searched on youtube and the internet and i can't find anything about what comes next

This is amazing! I wonder why Mikey isn’t an artist
Thanks for this video mikey! I wanted to ask, i know your an anime artist but is there a possibility you can do a tutorial for realistic eyes? You explain very well and that honestly helps me understand more. Thank you!
This came in handy! I have an art project that deals with this ;-; yay
Hey uh can u teach me how to draw six point preview
Interesting. Learnt something new today, thanks!

That Skyrim music is amazing... Love it haha
oblivion soundtrack?
I hear that skyrim music...
Music reminds me of skyrim
Thank you for this beginner tutorials, it inspire me to start drawing.
Thats cool #learningfrommikey
Do 4- and 5-point perspective tutorials please :)
Those aren't that hard really.
You use the top down view to position vanishing points on the horizon (assuming your object needs them), and you follow the regular rules of all parallel lines on a plane go in the direction of the corresponding vanishing point.
Wait, I'm not sure if you were kidding or not.
Because people mostly stay with 1,2, and 3, point perspectives, very few people go beyond, to the point that some people think that's not even a thing!
WTF Amazing!
best video!!!!
i did the first like
flat earth lol
Thank you Mikey! 🙂
