About Cole & Charisma:
Welcome to the official Roll with Cole & Charisma RUclips channel! Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about our experiences as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. On this channel you can catch us doing travel and adventure vlogs, challenges, our inclusion series, couple first times, music, and so much more! We started this vlog to bring people into our lives, to answer some questions about how we navigate the world, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. I like how Cole is always willing to help doing things with his wife around the house, he never back down from anything that is a challenging, good team work guys.
He use to not be like that. Charisma has given him the confidence to do stuff and has pushed him outside his comfort level at times. It has really made him grow and become way more confident in himself.

@@CactusJack252 Yeah I agree but a quadriplegic handling knifes is not a good idea when he doesn't have full and control.
There's nothing wrong with trying something new and expanding your comfort level especially when you're disabled but you still have to be realistic especially when it comes to safety.

a good ideas when measuring sticky liquids like honey and oil. Measure the oil first then use the same cup to measure the honey. This way the honey doesn't stick to the cup and need scraping out.

makes me feel like a failure & its just "me" (cervical + lumbar disabled). The presence of a signif other, or roommate is a 1,000,000 times better than being able bodied alone. Solitude kills, I just read an article on it. But how does one generate interactions if he's only able to tolerate 1-2 hrs on his feet (shopping + Dr appts)? I can get essentials leaning on the store cart, but I'd much rather be working/socializing than earning a disability check for confinement on my back in bed nearly all day. All the req'd pills are overwhelming too. So this is your stranger venting today on this post. Netflix is my signif other 🙄. Wish I could trust myself with that chicken, hope it was good!

This is encouraging, especially to other couples where one spouse is the caregiver. I love how Cole is creative in how uses utensils and Charisma is encouraging him to do some of things himself. Thanks guys for all the tips and encouragement you give, it is truly a blessing!

From one quad (35yr vet) to another: Cook/prep at a desk height level, less shoulder strain & facial trauma possibilities, more leverage. And I always cook from the side, never roll under a surface with hot spillable anything. Lap burns are a matter of when, not if. :)

I recently broke my wrist and had surgery. I am right handed and broke my right wrist. Watching this reminds me of how I have been adapting to make everything work just like Cole is. Obviously mine challenges are just temporary but I think what you guys are doing for awareness is excellent! My experience gives me a new found respect for you guys and how you have to adapt every single day. Keep up the great videos!

You too are so wonderful cooking together me and my husband have been married for 43 years July 17 2021 and we never cook together we argue the whole time we decided a long time ago let me do all the cooking it keeps the peace. My the good Lord keep blessing this family.

I'm so so glad I found your videos. Especially the ones where you explained about your muscle spasms. My 2 year old quad grandson with a c6 complete injury started having them a little worse lately in his legs and feet.

I'm a quadriplegic (with Cerebral Palsy) also and I love to see another quadriplegic living their best life! Although I think that every day is the "Quadriplegic vs. The ..." for us! 😁

The smoke could be caused by the type of oil you used. Olive oil has a lower smoke point (375 - 405 F) than other vegetable oil (400-450 F), so that may be the reason for all the smoke.
That dish looks super tasty though!
We did use olive oil 😭
If you're looking for a healthy oil with a higher smoke point then olive oil, I would suggest avocado oil!
@@coleandcharisma that's what the OP meant, olive oil has a lower smoke point, which means it starts smoking at a lower temperature than many other oils. I think the pan was heated too high for the olive oil, which is why it smoked.
@@valcomments3045 yes avocado oil and grapeseed oil are high heat oils.
Cole and Charisma I like how you are working together to create a meal, everyone brings their own talents to the table. You both are awesome people. There are more accessible options for kitchen tools and equipment, you could put a rubber mat under the bowl when Cole is stirring so Charisma doesn't have to hold it, there is other things like stirring spoons and forks to help hold the meat while Cole is trying to cut it, check it out with an occupational therapist, I know Charisma was going to school for that but maybe check with former professors or the Shepherd Center for ideas on adaptive equipment for the kitchen and check with a ADA architect or kitchen designer to make the kitchen more user-friendly for Cole.

Advice. Don't place an empty pan on induction heat source. Also make sure the type of pan is compatible with the heat source. If the pan is thin on sides and bottom, the pan will buckle (this is dangerous). Make sure you use a good quality pan.

So crazy thing. You can put a shower cap over the smoke detector. It won't set off the detector when cooking, and leaving it there doesn't impair the efficacy of the detector because it hangs rather loosely.

Rice pointer: add rice when water boils. Lower heat and cover rice. This should be done by the time your other ingredients are.
