that looks amazing man. I'm getting ready to do a kit LP w/ my dad, but I am doing all black hardware w/ EMG solderless everything. Can't wait. I hope it turns out as nice as yours... I'm learning a lot from watching these video's thanks for sharing
Tip: Coat the bindings with a single coat of clear lacquer or polyurethane, one day before applying the stain. The stain will just wipe off of the bindings.
Tip 3: Never use the electric components that come with a kit guitar... They will reduce the value of the guitar to under what you spent to make it. Spend another $250 on tuning machines, pots and pickups, and you will add $500 to the value of your kit guitar.
Oh… the song goes through the WHOLE video. Why are you torturing us like this?! You build a guitar that looks amazing… but make us listen to nails on the chalk board while you build it. 😕
I don’t glue the neck until after I put on the finish, as I gloss the body and headstock and satin the neck..not to mention any glue squeezing will just easily wipe away.
I like finishing the back of mine the same as the front, yes the color will be a bit off on the side’s because of a different wool, but I personally like it better that way.
Great job! You have a real touch with the binding too. I have purchased 2 Tele style kits from guitar kit world, one flame maple and one quilt maple. I don’t like pick guards but both of these came with the pick guards pre installed-so right away I had screw holes in my maple top. Very disappointed with that.
That is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen. Great job and real good video. Was that guitar kit from DIY electric guitar? And we’re you happy with the finished piece?
Gun oil is perfect. Or just sand the neck again with 80p grit before you buff it. That is why I don’t glue the neck until final finish coating is completed.
Copper tape is awesome… anyone who skips this step needs to go back and do it again if they want the cleanest sounding electric guitar. I do this even on store bought guitars…
I agree, but for these LP guitars there is no sense to apply the copper tape in the Humbucker cavity since a humbucker is already shielded and besides you would get a more dull tone if you do so. I do believe that if you apply this in the pots cavity it will help to get that 60hz hum away for at least 70% I talk by experience, not by parrot behaviour lol
Even an experienced person will have a depth mark on the drill bit! Never trust your eye. EVER!! I personally use an awl to mark my drill points and then remove the pickups and drill with a bit I marked with tape to be 100% positive I NEVER DRILL TO DEEP!
I sat here and watched you for a half hour putting that copper shielding to then watch you put those crappy tuners and those little dime size pots in that guitar dude you are a guitar HACK
Now I see!he never gave this guitar a finish, only a sealer coat.. it must now look horrible by the time I saw his video! No protection at all. Just enough to raise the grain, but did even sand it after.. He missed the opportunity to make it a masterpiece!
Thats the honest truth, we can definitely improve that aspect of things. This was pretty much the first or second Video we made and we have a lot of learning to do.
I understand you're a professional RUclipsr and you're really great at stating the obvious facts, thank you for clarifying that nothing besides staining was done in the whole hour long video very meaningful comment and Im sure people can learn a lot from it. Building doesn't always mean building from scratch, you can also build things when there is work done before you start "Building it" Im sure 99% of the people are aware that I was assembling a DIY kit, hence there is nothing hard about doing these kits and quite frankly that's the whole point of it.

13:06 thx for the earrape mate 🙏
Sorry lol next video should be better
If I get one of those, I’m gonna turn into a black beauty Les Paul custom with the gold hardware 😎
Way cool! I found a cool Epiphone and have been slowly modding it. Thank you for including how to Stain it. I’ll look into those stains.
is that a quilted maple top ? Did you raise the grain ? Also looks like ebony fretboard ?
Good job buddy smart to put a primer coat under the stain. Nice video. I saved it for later use. 😊😊🎸🎸
That color is amazing
Thank you!
I couldnt stress this enough. Tape, tape, tape & more tape.
Nice man, the finish looks killer! I'm contemplating getting one of these kits as well and cutting out an access heel at the neck.

@@timhallas4275 im gunna assume, its the same for a cat, but big thanks bro cos i wouldve forgotten to lock them out 😂😂
Good idea
@@timhallas4275 I’m old, I have to protect it from my own hair… I surely don’t need a dog or worse a cats help… lol
Nice Job . I want one lol
I cant find this exact kit from your link. Which one did you order?
Shame it didn't have a maple cap than veneer. Nice build there.
Was the shape of the headstock at that time identical to the one on the homepage? Today it looks not like the „open Book“ headstock.

Yes this song is horrible.

Me either. I fill the pic guard holes before finishing if they are pre drilled… because under the pic guard is a dust magnet..
I see so many of my first wood finishing mistakes before the old guys showed me how I was so often working 1 step forward and two steps back..
Sounds great! Really? An hour and 20 minutes and no demo?
Great point! Will definitely keep that in mind for the next video! Lol
How did you make sure the edge of the guitar wasn't painted red and the edge was smooth?
I made a groove on a wooden block and used 1000 grit sand paper to take off the stain
Awesome!
I personally think the gold wud of made that finish pop, still looks killer tho👍
That is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen. Great job and real good video. Was that guitar kit from DIY electric guitar? And we’re you happy with the finished piece?
I am doing almost this exact kit, but purple and blue, so I will use gold, but different hardware…
I think sir it would look more premium if you install gold hardwares
just wandering is there a matte finish or satin you can use on the neck as a sealer?
Gun oil is perfect. Or just sand the neck again with 80p grit before you buff it. That is why I don’t glue the neck until final finish coating is completed.
They look like real mother of pearl inlays, are they?

Upload more videos please! Nothing in a year.
Going to upload one tomorrow, hopefully I’m back to stay!
А есть такой на wieldberis?🥹
How much did you pay?
Don’t understand why you added the electronics before doing the finish? The last thing I want is my finish getting in my pots or pickups.
Why do you put the copper tape in the cavities?
To insulate from 60Hz hum (interference) from things like lights, cellphones etc.
Do you take comissions
That might be the worst song ever. I had to mute it. 😖
Whould of looked better if you painted and not stained the back
Now I see!he never gave this guitar a finish, only a sealer coat.. it must now look horrible by the time I saw his video! No protection at all. Just enough to raise the grain, but did even sand it after.. He missed the opportunity to make it a masterpiece!
Still looks exactly the same as it did when it was new, can post a picture if you’d like
Creo que debe mejorar el trabajo con la cámara, como director de fotografía vale hongo.
Would be more enjoyable without the dreadful Music !😮
Noted! Lol
DIY ... ?
Good job even better without that awful loud music come to relax had to mute in end such a shame
Will keep that in mind for the next video, thank you for the input
