Building a Bamboo Puppy Playpen DIY | Labradoodle X GSP Hybrid Pointerdoodles

The puppies are growing fast and starting to explore more. We had to build them a bamboo playpen to contain their increasing energy and adventurousness.
We used the saltwater bamboo treatment method for the slats (strips of bamboo). By soaking them in the ocean, starches are able to leech out of the bamboo material and salts can enter, making it less desirable for pests like the powder beetle aka bukbuk.
Simply by weaving the slats together in an alternating fashion, fences can quickly be made. These were just pushed together to for the puppy playpen, part of their puppy palace.
Bryan Benitez McClelland is a Filipino-American environmental consultant, ecotourism developer, social entrepreneur, and educator. While working on his Masters degree in Environmental Resource Management at the University of Pennsylvania, he became involved with Gawad Kalinga (GK), a community development program based in the Philippines. After helping GK kickstart their green building program, called Green Kalinga, he founded Bamb EcoLogical Technology, Inc. in order to have a platform for his socio-ecological enterprise projects. He works with community members of a GK village in Victoria, Tarlac called Bambuilders. Bambike, a premium bamboo bicycle line is the flagship product of the company. Bambike Ecotours leads guided bamboo bicycle tours that share the ecological significance and cultural heritage of the Philippines. McClelland also worked as the Director of Sustainability at Enderun Colleges. His team established a pioneer and award-winning undergraduate program in sustainability focused on social entrepreneurship, food systems and ecotourism development. Most recently, he launched Philippine Artisan Trade and Batala Bar which serve as a platform for social enterprises and local handcrafted products.
