If it weren't for Kazuki Takahashi, Yu-Gi-Oh wouldn't have come to existence. The man truly left a massive impact on the world. Yu-Gi-Oh! is one of many things that made up my childhood.

In episode 224 when Atem is walking into the Afterlife and giving us that thumbs up, we will now and forever see that as Kazuki walking off into the sunset to enjoy his afterlife.
I'd also like to add one more to what Jounouchi/Joey said.
"I hate to break it to ya, but you're not going anywhere. Cause everything you've given us stays right here in our hearts."

Yugioh helped me with critical thinking too. It made me a friend. The monster "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" even taught me that when the world is crumbling around you (like destruction effects) you can come back shining even brighter. That was my first "real" deck and turned destruction and despair back on the opponent. It made me realize that I could weather the challenges ahead be they school, house hunting, or chronic illness and not let the world break me. The phoenix mythology and symbology became the foundation of how I lived my life. I wouldn't have that without Takahashi's work. May the Egyptian gods see his journey is a safe one.

When I was a child, I always wanted to duel the creator of Yugioh. Kazuki was my goal. I fell in love with his story. In love with the card game. A person to surpass was the creator himself. I had always improved my deck. Had fun when I pleased with this game. My favorite card, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand was always with me. I still had that childish goal to duel the creator of Yugioh...only to recently find out that this man who had guided me in most of my childhood had passed away. Rest in peace you king of games.

When I read that Kazuki Takahashi had passed away I was shocked and sad. For me I grew up with Yu Gi Oh and it has always had a special place in my heart as I have learned so much from it. It was one of the few anime which was shown in the TV in my home country, when I was a kid along with Naruto. Those 2 anime/manga taught me a lot about many things such as friendship and other things. Thank you Mr. Takahashi for making such and amazing manga as Yu Gi Oh is.
My prayers and deepest condolence goes to his family. May your soul rest in peace - The true King of Games Kazuki Takahashi ❤

Until earlier this year it had been over a decade since the last time I had played Yu-Gi-Oh, and only after thinking back about it did I realize how much of an impact it had on my life.

Beautiful eulogy; his passing not only made me pick back up my Fiend deck (GOAT Format) and study and make it become the greatest it could ever be but it has given me the inspiration and dedication to continue working on the franchises I have created. Seeing how he's touched the world and how much of a difference one person's ideas can make, it would be wrong of me to not do the same. Rest in peace, Kazuki. Rest in peace.

A beautiful tribute. If it wasn't for Takahashi I wouldn't have the deep appreciation for trading card games as a whole I have today. The complexity of cards interacting with one another in strong, unique, and even just downright absurd ways is such a joy to see. And the sheer variety of decks possible is astounding that you really do get to see into a person's heart with how their choice of cards.
I stopped playing Yu-Gi-Oh heavily near the start of the Xyz era, and only really got lightly back into it a few years ago. My go-to decks back then were Gladiator Beasts and Dragunities. Not because they were powerful decks even though they absolutely were in their time, but because their playstyles resonated with me. I've moved onto Magic as my main card game since then, but I will always cherish the memories that wouldn't have been possible if Takahashi hadn't made this prolific franchise way back in 1998. Both old and new memories.
Rest In Peace, Kazuki Takahashi. You will be sorely missed.

I remember us huddled around the rule book trying to understand it. I sense lost touch with that friend but i cherish these memories so i guess I'll say thank you

I came across this tribute a bit late. However, it's very noteworthy that you bring up attributing knowing your wife through Yu-Gi-Oh as a few years I lost my Duel Links account and couldn't accept losing all those hundreds of hours of progress. I turned to a Duel Links account on Facebook to see if anyone would be willing and kind enough to let me buy their account. The post was taken down quickly but one man saw it in time and was willing. After we sorted out the details a bit he opened up a bit about what the money I paid him was for and it was an investment for the ring he planned to propose to his fiancé with. I'm so glad as small and petty a role I may have had in that couples lives that I could help better their lives in just a small way.
Thank you Takahashi San, for everything. Uniting people World's apart and making my childhood a bit brighter and continuing to shine ever so brightly even now.
