Shaun is a true and authentic musician. He isn’t ripping Kurt off, he’s paying respect to his hero and very beautifully keeping the type of music alive. Obviously Kurt is king, but Shaun has every right to have honed his sound the way he has. Shaun keeps the hope of good current music alive!
It's hard to explain, there are clear differences between their voices so when you hear them you say "Oh I know that's Kurt" or "Oh, I know that's Shaun". Kurt has a higher pitched voice and Shaun can't close his throat the way Kurt can. Then of course you have that impossible to mimic thing where Kurt is singing and he does a high note, his voice goes up an octave it's almost like a yodel. Shaun couldn't do that if he tried, no one can. (Lol if someone proves me wrong on that I won't mind)

You can tell the difference between their voices when you hear Shaun's signature "whehohn" sound that he makes a lot when singing certain words. It can be heard around 0:32 for example. Otherwise they sound very similar lol
