@Cliff Why? I used to play my Dad's favorite Merle Haggard songs while he sat on back porch as Mom cooked dinner! We sang a lot together! Miss my Dad so much! Everything is fixable!
Thanks for posting........a tribute to his greatness . I saw him in 1992 in Mpls. Brilliant!!! i cried and called my friends who were there with me that night after Merle died. My Dad loved him and knew what a force this man was in enriching our lives.
I was singing these songs way before I even knew what drinking was about! When I finally got to get to the "bar room", those were some of the best songs to sing and dance too.... Thank you Mr. Haggard!

This old smoke filled bar is something I’m not used to But I gave up my home to see you satisfied And I just called to let you know where I’ll be livin’ It’s not much, but I feel welcomed here inside And I’ve got swingin’ doors, a jukebox, and a barstool And my new home has a flashing neon sign Stop by and see me anytime you want to ‘Cos I’m always here at home til closin’ time I’ve got everything I need to drive me crazy And I’ve got everything it takes to lose my mind And in here, the atmosphere’s just right for heartaches And thanks to you, I’m always here til closin’ time And I’ve got swingin’ doors, a jukebox, and a barstool And my new home has a flashing neon sign Stop by and see me anytime you want to ‘Cos I’m always here at home til closin’ time I’m always here at home til closin’ time
It's definitely none of the Strangers. I asked a former one and he wasn't sure who it was. It's from an old movie: Hillbillys In A Haunted House , so it may be someone the production company used and not a known musician.
I love old country music

LOL! The audience shot at 1:47 is hilarious! They look like they're at a funeral or watching Twilight Zone!
FUNERAL WHAT.
Must have been tough to sing to such unresponsive people or was that the etiquette in those days? Anyway Merle absolutely perfect as always.
