Nice to see a metal platter on this unit. Love the enthusiam you show when unboxing items. Went through my stored audio items yesterday and found some separates i had forgotten i had- happy days! Greetings from the UK.
I recently bought this turntable, I only paid $150 for it brand new. I must say I have had absolutely no problems with this turntable. The strobe light for the pitch control work perfectly and the tone arm damping mechanism works great. I don't know if he just received a bad unit or it was damaged but my works awesome. I love it.
I noticed this turntable and wondered if it was any good. Thanks for reviewing it so I don't have to! I think even that $79 Walmart Onn turntable is higher quality than this.
Yes, it's jonque. It will probably be feedback city if you run it through an amp at a decent volume and I think the sound will be tinny and thin as well. To me, it's kinda like a characture of a turntable. Interesting market placement though, almost predatory in nature. It photographs well, so initially it will fool a lot of people. You'll probably see it discounted before long.
Fun, funner, funnest. What could be better. One thing to note, the Technics SL1200 was designed to be a home audiophile turntable. When DJ'S discovered how bulletproof they were, that's when they became known as DJ tables.
@@tyronesmith9267 the new ones don’t have usb? And the mark 7 is a tank. I heard the only complaint of the pilot light. But the MK7 the GAE I heard they’re sound and feel beautiful
I prefer to set the tonearm weight using a scale and adjusting the wheel until I reach the desired recommended weight. Heck, for that price, I would just get the AT 120. Well, I've already got one.
Don't people look for second hand anymore. Get your self a blast from the past. I got a pioneer PL-445 direct fully auto for £50 it's a great turntable. I use it all the time.
The thing with vintage however is that if the unit was not very well taken care of, it could have issues when you go to use it. That’s the big worry I have. Maybe if I go to Japan I’ll get a nice vintage turntable from Hard Off or something like that because they largely take EXCELLENT care of everything in Japan.
I appreciate the fact that you purchase these products to review them. At first when I saw this I was going to purchase this, but after seeing this video I think I will pass. For $40 more I think the Audio Technica lp120 would be better.
I too would love to buy something like that. Also thank you for your honesty (brutal though it might be at times) in reviewing these record players/turntables.
I wish I could visit Colorado because in your videos the scenery looks spectacular. Not only that, but in Eaton I want to see Lee Maxwell's Washing Machine Museum. I've always loved washing machines. When I was just a little shaver, my Grandad used to take me to the laundromat. The smell of bleach and Tide my head spin. Always, you and yours have a good Thanksgiving.
Hmm...at $65 turntable priced at $239? For $39 LESS you can get a Fluance RT-80. A far superior turntable compared to this piece of junk (sorry to be so blunt). For $10 more, you can get a Fluance RT-81! Otherwise great review!
Definitely disappointing. It looked so promising at first. And yes, having a custom printed 45 adapter would be fun to have! Could it also come as thin as the spider style adapters to put on a changer for those that have them?
Actually I just bought one of these and I've had no problems with it whatsoever. Every problem that he came across I had the opposite everything worked fine on mine. I love it!
Stop floating the tone arm. Put the stylus on the scale. Adjust till you get to the proper weight, then adjust the front of the counterweight untl it matches what the scale says.
Just got one yesterday. Was having problems with speed so I looked for help video and found this. It was only $100 (went up to $139 today) on Amazon so guess they found out it was over priced. It's probably OK for me if I can get the speed sorted out. I did get a quick response from Customer Service. The other thing I don't like is the on/off switch on the back. All my gear is in a rack so it will probably have to stay on all the time. Wish I had watched this video first! My old old old turntable died so needed replacement. I was actually quite shocked at some of the prices these days. Thanks
I own 3 record players: a Realistic LAB-430 DD purchased in 1985, a Technics SL-200 DD, and an SL-BD35 with FGservo. All of them in perfect working condition.
I agree, that really is far too much money for what it is. At full price it's quite close to turntables like the entry level Project Debut and Rega Planar (at least in the UK), and actually more expensive than the Project Primary E. And although these don't have the bling or the preamp, they do give solid, reliable performance.
After watching many of your videos of these turntables I would always recommend getting a used vintage one instead. At least instead of these really bad ones like this. If you think about it, over $200 is wayyyy too much for something like this. A week ago I myself got a nearly mint Sony direct drive from 1980 for a $100 with a new needle. Its built much much better than this and also works much more reliable, with a real strobe etc. Sound quality wise would probably compete with something in the $500 range today.
It's indeed rather strange seeing the "small-small-large-small" strobe dot configuration on a low-end belt driven-turntable seeing most cheaper units use the "small-large-small-large". You don't typically find the former configuration on decks until you get up to the higher end direct drive TT's like the Audio Technica LP-140XP and the Technics 1200
I've never seen the pitch guide next to the strobe light up. I wouldn't call them fake light. I own techics 1210s and Reloop RP7000s and they are just the same. Just a Printed guide.
Let's be honest, this is not a good turntable, especially at that price point. The first thing i noticed was the poor alignment of the strobe light housing with the plinth. That aside, it's also situated in a rather unusual place as they're normally placed at the front on the left side.
One of the reasons that the spindle doesn't spin free like on older tables is tighter tolerances is the bearing. But when you put weight to it, will spin free.
6/25/22. I just got this from Amazon. Drop damper is fine. Strobe lights work well. Had a bit of a tough time with counter weight but it's good. $139,99 every day at Anazon. They may have been priced wrong a year ago, and may have tweaked some issues. Smooth rotation, sounds great. It is worth $139.99. But no more. Don't listen to much vinyl but I am a Beatle collector so it's fun paying and finding LPS, 45s, and EPs.
Good review, I am wit you on this one. As it sits, it's a $75.00 turntable. At $240.00 the price is way too high. It also seem like the cartridge is a little uneven. That is the inner corner front seems slightly higher that thee outer front corner. I dunno, maybe it's an optical illusion. Interesting video and your verbal explanation was very detailed. 😎👍
This is really disappointing. I'm glad you reviewed this, if I have any friends or family looking for a new entry level turntable, I'll definitely steer them to the Atlp60!
This is ok for a beginner or casual vinyl listener but few bugs gotta be worked out you can adjust the speed there are a couple of holes on the bottom of it where you can set the speed to correct pitch that way you don't have to bother with the pitch control I saw on xraytonyb channel he was having the same problems as well as the head shell being off set and counter Balance being a little off they came down on the price which is good it should have never been that high in the first place I know they are mass producing these units but at least make sure that basic functions are working correctly you didn't have this problem years with speed inaccuracy maybe on the cheap units but not the high price ones
I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed that the adapter ended up fitting so tight on the spindle. I tried to design it so it would slip easily onto the spindle without it being 'sloppy' loose. The bad news is that some record player spindles are slightly larger than others, and there are slight differences in tolerances at the 3D printing service as well. I decided slightly small is better than slightly large, because it's always easy to make the hole a bit larger. I suggest taking a drill bit close to the size of the hole, and WITH YOUR HAND using it to ream out the hole slightly until it slips easily over the spindle. It should not take much work, so go slowly and check your progress until it's satisfactory. I'm sure this turntable could be improved with a few tweaks and modifications, but off the shelf, $239 is too much to ask. I'd be hesitant even if it was $100 cheaper.
Thanks again for doing this for me! This turntable is not a good example to judge the size of that hole by LOL. Overall it seems to fit rather nicely and may need a minor sanding on the inside but no big deal. These are awesome! You are an absolute legend for doing this work for us!
@@Recordology On a turntable that has a proper spindle, I'm not too worried about a snug fit. But less expensive 'tables, like those Skywin mechanisms that have a 'fixed' (non-rotating) spindle, it may be a problem.
Those strobe markings are certainly interesting. As other commenters have said, these ones are usually reserved for higher-end models which would give you pitch adjustment markings for all 3 (or even 4 in the case of the AT LP-1240) speeds. A bummer this one is not that good, I really enjoy seeing these beginner units.

Rather than investing in a nice aluminum 45 adapter, turntable makers-------make an adapter that is pre-fitted into the turntable that you can lift up/and turn/thus placing your 45 down onto it. Oh BTW this is not a novel idea;-)...most turntables were made with this feature back in the 1950/60's!!!
The top of the 'strobe light' looks like it turns, does it, if so what does it do? Perhaps there's a speed adjustment on the motor also, so the speed/pitch is a bit more accurate as there seemed to be a bit of a difference between the 45 & 33. Just some thoughts on this. Oh and perhaps the company needs to notice that they have put dampening listed on the box. That tone arm is not very soft at all, it seems to be very bad. Where is the dampening and why is it like an avalanche? You lowered it slowly and it still dropped like a stone!
phono preamp also does RIAA frequency compensation. in short, when a vinyl record is created, they record the bass with low volume and the treble with high volume. and this is then corrected with frequency compensation in your phono preamp en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_equalization
Very interesting these plastic timetables, I agree with you $79 would be about right, and even then I would avoid it. I'm guessing the speed inaccuracy can be adjusted internally, also the big dot is the main speed, and the smaller dots just those percentage changes when you use the pitch control.
The main thing I like about that DIGITNOW turntable aside from the ability to use any audio cables one likes or adding other cartridges, is the feet which look like they would have pretty good vibration isolation, but otherwise, I'd be weary of any gimmicky labelling, the lack of dampening fluid, the "decorative" strobe dots that aren't accurate, etc. Companies like DIGITNOW need to wake up and not attempt to fleece the consumer. Canada's Fluance doesn't fleece the consumer. Pro-ject doesn't fleece the consumer and neither does Audio-Technica, so if DIGITNOW wants to be competitive, it needs to improve the quality a bit, drop the price a bit, and build a better reputation of reliability.
Ugh. You can pick up any number of excellent vintage tables for that price or less. I'm still using my Philips 212 but I have a very nice Stanton that I paid around the same price for (also came with Audacity), and it's a very nice, heavy turntable with a strobe that works

Just looked at a Techniques SL1000, and it has the same exact strobe markings on its platter as well as the speed legend that is printed on the plinth.
Nice video! I like these 'on location' intros... that waterfall area you're in there is gorgeous! However, that turntable is not! ;-) At even $139.00 it would need it's Q/C improving - that lack of arm damping is very poor.... The strobe looks to be badly designed; although it is not always easy to see on video. At it's current price point, it really should also include that simple automatic start/stop/arm return function that tables like the LP60X and LP3 feature at their respectively much lower price points! I would have though this DigitNow would have been a competitor to the AT-LP3, but no, it falls way behind! The LP3 is better built - metal arm/arm bearings, has the auto functions, a working damped tonearm lifter, the AT3600 is correctly pre-aligned, and is aprox $70.00 cheaper!
I received this one as a present a couple of weeks ago. Instructions are probably the worst thing in the world for someone like me who isn't an expert on turntables. First thing i notice is that the pitch was way off. Playing a bit with the belt I managed to have the pitch perfect at 0 position. But! I move the turntable to a new furniture and now the pitch is exactly as off as in this video! Anyone know what can I do??
*** I am not defending a fisherprice toy attempt. Since this uses AC power and has the possibility to be used in 240 volt 50 hz locations, and it uses a belt like the ATlp60 clones. All those provide clues that the possibility is real, that these can be calibrated to the wrong line frequency for the wrong country. Yes Amazon does blindly ship items with differing voltages. As for the original price, every company wants to get as much money as they can, before demand dies out from similar looking models.
Technics 1200 TT's these were STAPLES in radio stations-don't know how many of them I have set up and installed. You could buy them thru ANY electronics place or broadcast supplier-Broadcasters General Store and Broadcast Supply West comes to mind. And they sold for less then $500.Now that the "audiophools" have gotten the TT they grossely inflated the prices.
Nope. I wouldn't buy one . Save up a few more pennies and get an Audio Technica, Fluance or a decent second-hand turntable instead. That thing is total rubbish and not worth it.

Does the spinning stop aromatically at the end of the record?
I don’t believe so
Cartridge overhang looks off your right!!
It's too far to the front the screws should be in the middle
My records are spinning too fast on this record player and I can’t figure out why
21:50 they also photoshopped a record label onto the bare platter with no record or mat on top of it lmao
I love your positive attitude but my goodness the thought of a kid paying that much for this !!!!!!!!
I missed this kind of unboxings of turntables! Sadly this particular turntable is bad to say the least.
I give it a 4 out of 10.
The minimum requirement for ripping a vinyl record must be at least 16 bit PCM without compression
31:17 I was waiting for you to change the speed ...
I'd say around $90 to $150:00.
Mid range value.
Nope. I wouldn't buy one . Save up a few more pennies and get an Audio Technica, Fluance or a decent second-hand turntable instead. That thing is total rubbish and not worth it.
$239 !!! For a speed innacurate plastic crap? Wow, search elsewhere...
may as well buy an LP120x at that price
The rule is that turntables should vibrate as little as possible
Rip-off price!
14:16 Look at that spindle! It's bent and it wabbles with the platter, I could get a fluance and pay less than this...
Great review as always but yeah for the price this turntable is a ripoff
Funny seeing all these comments shitting on this cause this is my primary turntable
audio technica LP3 would be a lot better and cheaper
Would love to have a recordology 45 adapter. Watcha take for her.
You should also have one made out of aluminum.
Looks like gemini tt4000 but in grey
This is the as same gemini tt1200 just a different color that's all
Djs don't use Records these days , there powered via laptops these days
Since you mentioned Audacity in this video, here's a PSA: Do NOT download the latest version of Audacity. It's spyware now. Not a joke
It's sound is its only redeeming feature. The price point should be $65 to $90; it's not worth any more.
$239!!!!!??? 🤣😂😅😆🤣😂😅
It looks cheap. Interesting video as always though!
You always have a smile, but you must get tired of reviewing such rubbish.
Not at all! The show is all about the entry level!
