First saw this video as a kid, on mtv's alternative nation or 120 minutes - you know, back when mtv had actual music. Blew my young mind. Still does today.
Minimalistic, seductive, deep - a wonderful work of art. Alone this impish grin (3:12) when the apples ripen; what luck that the snake found its way to The Garden!
Only Blixa could pull this off - just stand there and do nothing in a MV for 5 minutes straight and still somehow mesmerize the audience into forgetting their worries. I love him!
Still can't find the words for describe this but I just say definitely one of the best music video I ever saw and heard. Really missing the replay button here.
found this band through a friend when I was using drugs (the bad kind) everyday and lead a very bleak and disturbing life. here I am 10 years later living a different life full of meaning and sober with my thoughts this band is still as profound and I connect with the music all the same.. though may appreciate it more
That scream…. And then the coy look as he starts to walk off. It makes me laugh Every time. This is absolute performance art and it is fabulous. Perfection!
Yes, I could just sit and watch this for hours. Make it loop. Add in so many more. I have missed out on so much since the 1980's. Yet tonight on You Tube. As I have been, so many times before with Neabauten. Thrilled with unexpectation. Neubauten will always be great. Cheers to you again, Industrial pioneers, The sounds of, never before. Expos , Vancouver. 1986. A great performance you did. At the beginning of the show. The audience movement. Gave us near front row seats. At the beginning of second track. Mom's and Dad's took their kids away leaving us with all the good seats after being stuck in the back. Once they realized that,,, Einsterzende Neubauten ,,, it is not traditional German music. LOL.. Yeahhh. A brilliant show it was.
wunderbar, we were in love with einsturzende neubauten music since 1980-ties, we forgot, but we're in the process of waking up and that help us a lot. Einsturzende blumenkraft.
The background violins are ripped off / copied from "Cantus in memoriam Benjamin Britten" by Arvo Pärt. Which is one of the most moving elegies ever written. Beautiful and haunting as you say. Look it up here on RUclips. A good choice for your funeral music! I would attend :)
There was one big festival in Croatia in the early 90's, or maybe in the late 80's? I just remember I were really pleasantly surprised and incuriosed by your music and your exibition, wich was like a fresh air and still I wasn't maybe enthusiasted enough to continue search better all your works, so in the past years I've just occasionaly return to your music. Now I'm glad that I finally start to discover you better and I finally can say that I'm really enthusiasted
Habe dieses Stück gestern gehört als Hintergrundmusik bei einem Tanztheater mit Lichteffekten (Kataklo) und war sofort fasziniert. Dank Google weiß ich jetzt von wem es stammt.
Almost 12 years exactly when this video came out, such a beautiful song and such a meaningful music video even if he is just standing there, he makes standing in one place for five minutes really meaningful.
His minimal activity is significant. It illustrates his prestige as opposed to mass popularity I think. When he waves off his camera crew at the end of the video it indicates the exact same concept of power vs. showmanship. It is subtle but his visual artistry in this video is thematically very consistent. Which reminds me, I suspect him of pulling the strings on the recent rash of K-Pop "enigmas".
Today here in Billings Montana at 9:27am you could find him.. it's 68* and the sun is shining.. in a bright blue sky.. it's 9:28 now I got to thinking hard about the passage of time as I hit the send arrow.. now it's 9:34 am.. 9:35.....
I love Blixa. Had only heard some of his work (such as his collaborations with Teho Teardo). Now that I know about this musical project, I wish I could subscribe to the band's channel twice.
I just discovered them this morning, so I understand how you feel. Better late than never. Most people live their entire life without finding this band and song
In one of my daily escapes during my former life as a public school teacher in charge of a class of rowdy students, I played this video for them. The reactions went from complete dismissal to comments like "I'm gonna smash that computer if you don't turn that sh^& off!!"
He can be im der garten...immer und fur immer, und am Nagorny Karabach. Wherever he is...being "a bad seed" or not... Blixa is ingenious mastermind! ~.
You will find me waiting for the spring and summer You will find me waiting for the fall You will find me waiting for the apples to ripen You will find me waiting for them to fall
This song was probably inspired by Blixa's stint as a Spanish monk circa 1945. The more I learn about him, the more I can understand and appreciate his songs.
Absolutely brilliant. Profoundly simple; simply profound. Why did I not hear this sooner? This deserves a gazillion views, and as many Likes. (86 people have damned themselves to hell, by today's count.)
wait, now i'm confused. you mean he will not be in the garden when it is pouring down with rain! but what if it is not pouring down with rain? where could we find him?
Yeah. He's directing the video. It's a subtle way of establishing that he's in charge, unlike some major celebrities who are worth half a billion dollars but really there's a gun and some cue cards behind the scenes.
Oh, when those strings cascade in. My heart breaks every time. So wonderful now as it was in 96. Timeless simplicity.
Then listen to 'Cantus in memoriam Benjamin Britten', your heart will appreciate it :)
@@KorydwennThat's one of my favourite pieces of music ever - Arvo is a modern master
Just beautiful...I saw them perform in 1990. Blew my mind....changed my life.
I'm amazed that this video was shot in one take. The utter simplicity of it is what makes it work.
I could listen to this for hours.

Il suono degli Einsturzende Neubaten non ha riscontri nel mondo,e Blixa Bargeld ha una voce inconfondibile e grande carisma.
Einstürzende Neubauten changed my life. Blixa is an industrial music god.
Not only blixa
Industrial = GPO label, Blixa is in his own genre.
This video wouldn't work if Blixa weren't simply the coolest man alive.
so true
Oh yeah
Status quo will not make crappy music nice to hear
If you don't count Walt Disney.

I love the song too. But I am not so sure if attempting do divide good and bad is such a good idea
just found out about this group, i fell in love instantly such great musicians
Same here. Just discovered them this morning and been listening to them literally all day
A warm welcome to Blixas World, welcome and sit down.

Totally agree with you.

the scream at the end gives me chills i never had
certo. E' demoniaco. Anche le parole richiamano la caduta dell'eden. After the fall.....E' satanismo
Drives my wife mad... I love it
Well you know what they say about people with big hands...
That you'll find them in the garden unless it's pouring down with rain
The garden of gethsemane?
And end songs with banshee wails
Love this. Swear it's a message to me from my neighbours cat. Sounds great with the bass up

such a simple music video, yet it perfectly sets the tone for the song. so dark and so minimalist. einstürzende neubauten remain undefeated
I've just came in from the garden to this playing, great!

Thank you for the upload. This is among the most stylish music videos of all times.
Blixa! Blues Mimes for Philosophers and Gardeners! The inflection center of "You can find me if you want me in garden ..." is pure poetry. Genius.
I want this played at my funeral.
Randomly found this song, and it became my life song

A fantastic song in general, and also to lip scream to when you feel the need.
I think this is the first time I heard the phrase “lip scream” but I feel this so much.
