This song is 30 years old and still sounds good. It aged well
Aged well like you, oh so fine ✌️😍
You're definitely a internet troll but we all knew this is the jam....
I was 15yrs old when this joint came out..and still loving it after all these years
@@artrovertedconcepts92
Damn... simpin' in the comments section. 🙄
You just reminded me how old I am!!!😕😂
Who still watching / listening to this classic? ✋🏽
Right here . I'm fifty years old and hip hop was amazing in my growing years 💯💯💯💯

@@007Thebwoy 🔥🙌🏽🔥
Even in 2024, this joint STILL slaps!! 😤💯🔥👊🏾
Jamar ripped it. He was always an underrated lyricist. And Sadat X had that funky, elastic cadence.
👍🏽
Na they both killed it
This is one of my favorite LJ verses. I don't know if I'd call him underrated though. Unless possibly you mean Brand Nubian in general being underrated, especially today.
Turd Jamal throws like a bitch 😅
jamar was the worst lyricist in the group.
You here that from the 90's and beyond. A fuckin classic.
Standing the test of time; still a banger!
Every time I hear this I think of Martin training to fight Tommy Hearns!!
😂😂😂Me Too!😂😂😂
😂
Forrealz
Yep!!!😂
Lol yes
Beat produced by Diamond D. Give the man his credit.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Diamond D the best kept secret
Fire
Them horns was sick.
The "Rocky" horns r everything. Signifying the "Beatdown"!!! Wow I love my era..... So dope!!!!💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
holy shit. i never realized those horns were from "Rocky". ALL THESE YEARS!!! WOW
Yep, what a great time to be a teenager
Sadat a legend. Underrated group. This song was huge when it came out
what year did this come out? 92?
Yes it was
Diamond D went Crazy on this track !!!
When rap was rap.
Respect!
Old school is the best
Nah,it was Hip-hop back then
Yeah, I use to think this was rap & today it's something different but the truth much ain't changed except for style which then & now outraged the old heads. More importantly modern Hip Hop will always be for the kids whereas us old heads will always romanticize our era cus this was the times when we're were still young & fly. Essentially you've allowed yourself to become the very ppl which criticized rap when we were young. That said I still think this is golden era of Hip Hop.
Absolutely, listen to the horns, love that old school.
Back when Rap was basic...
Sadat X killed it!!!
He went awf
...both of them killed it!
This track is magical, love Brand Nubian.
The trumpet that carried itself through all the years of American rap in 1994.
HIP HOP IN ITS PUREST FORM!!
Damn rite
Terry Turner
Yes sir!!!
💯
No sagging cursin
I miss the 90s my era straight bangers 🔥🔥🔥🔥
So many levels of musicianship-
Intelligent lyrics, powerful delivery,
Phat beats and righteous samples... hip hop gold right here
The way Sadat said "One Day" is gots to be one of the best openers in hip hop
Dirty Rotten
Sadat is the soul of NYC in this video. That fist punch is legendary.
Sadat X was so slept on.
VZA he had that unique voice
Dubby V in a way his voice always reminded me of Xtacy from Whodini
Check the song big mouth
Tyrese O ok I’m on it
Dubby V cool. Then tell me if you can hear it a lil bit.
To everyone saying they were underrated, nope. To hip hop heads in that era they were incredible then and their legacy still is. This is a top ten hip hop beat of all time. I wore the twelve inch out.
When East Coast was East Coast.
Facts
It's still east... the place didn't change. Just the people did. And that's everywhere... even on the west.
Before gentrification
if I was a boxer that song would have been my song entrance . These brothers are underrated.
should use the remix instead
Probably in your subconscious because it sounds like they sampled Rocky
Peter Pan Literally thinking the same thing. Like you read my mind!
If u listen closely the sam0led Rocky
Yeah, they got a little too far into some controversial religion and politics later on which didn't help but they had some of the best bars of their time. "I always do the selling if I've gotta do the swelling." Brilliant.
I remember a lot of people counted out Nubian when Puba left. Man did they prove a lot of people wrong. This song still rocks like it just came out..
I remember that I counted them out when Puba left. But this song hit hard. I preferred Sadat X to Puba ever since.
Absolutely Spot on 👍✅
I remember
I had the entire album on cassette and bumped it in my car all year 92.
"…I could rock a jam, make the world drop ham oh yes…" ~Sadat X
I still rock this song. When I first heard it I was 17 in Jamaica Queens,am 47 and still love my New York Rap. Peace out to all ya'll in the big Apple. Love you all.
same here kid!!!! i was 18 in hollis queens now im almost 48...GREAT TIMES FAMZ
Pumping same shit in Nigeria back then...
Montgomery ala. Theme song👊💫👊💥💤💤💤💪
I was 13 at that time in the same area...I lived across the street from Baisley Park..
This beat will live for ever ..one of the greatest of all time
black prodigy since the age of twenty 🎤🎧🎵
80's and 90's. Real hip hop
If u rocked this classic when it came out and if u still do, YOU'RE THE REASON WHY THIS VID. STILL HERE. ✊🏿
One aspect of this masterpiece that always caught my ears was the trumpet in this and the sound that came after the 🎺. To me, it was the essence of East Coast Hip Hop in the 90’s. Mad love and respect to the artist of this decade💯
Roderick Ray The trumpet was actually added to the single / edited version. Although it lost something with the censorship, the horns definitely added something to it.
The flow on this is fucking timeless. This could be a top 10 hit today.
Scott Ricketts Hmm. This is peculiar. I had an urge out of the blue to hear this song, so I played it on Spotify. At that exact same moment I got an alert on my phone that you just commented. Interesting coincidence
After the what now?
Roderick Ray BIG FACTS.
Martín Lawrence training for a boxing match vs The get hit man Hearns 😂😂😂
Haha 😂.. Right, and Cole repeatedly spraying Martin with that water bottle
Lol 😂 yesss!
The CBC Champ! Recognize!
Franchii Gallegos 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Add this to the August 5, 2023 playlist. Montgomery Riverboat Beatdown.
Sadat x flow is so ahead of its time that I've been trying to catch up all these years. 😂😂😂
Lord Jamar ,Sadat X ,and Grand Puba are the terrific trio of Brand Nubian. one love
Karon Barwick ☮️ 2 that God bodies
Puba ain't on this track
Puba Left these dudes
Puba and Alamo rolled out bruh
@@d.i.g.i.t.a.l.9268 I was referring to their early hits
Sadat X..... That voice is one of the most recognized voices in HipHop.... That squeaky sound in his voice reminds me of a baby bird begging for worms while dropping bars to the beat and delivery is classic.... This is one of my favorites by them....Yes when HipHop and Rap had content and the lyrics had you tuning in and not just the beat...
His voice is really unrecognizable. Another voice that is also unrecognizable is the voice of Q-Tip!!! Unique
@@schorsch7527 qtip voice is recognized
Sadat still make music lmao you’d know if you weren’t a fake hip hop head 🤷🏻♂️
@@schorsch7527 you realize you just said both of them have boring voices nobody would recognize right?
all im picturing is Martin on the Speed Bag and Cole spraying him in the face with water LOL 😂😂💯
😂😂😂 same thing
Me and a group of my friends played this in our car like this was our anthem!! Lol we weren’t hard at all but this song made us think we were….good times
😂, friend
lol😂😅
Those 90's random trumpets tho 🤣🤣😂 it was hot then
😂😂😂😂
Random?
YES
You mean when production mattered????
Its a fucked up sound, perfect for a fucked up situation
But there are less thaz feels that

This is a damn shame! They should be millionaires. One of the greatest groups EVER!!!
"Lord Jamar will live lonnnggggg" I know he said it 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣Jamar talking about Marshall on Vlad brought me back to this classic shit
Me to I just saw it. Lord know what he was doing, he knew people would look this song up🤣🤣🤣
Because I give strong blows to the head of my foes.

Hell me me too 😂
I was a little kid bumping this right in the 90s and still bumping this in 2018
1994 right.
Gang gang
SADAT X IS A LYRICAL BEAST! * DEFINITELY SLEPT ON!
Went to school w Lord Jamar, dude was always in deep thought, like way ahead of the game. We talking junior HS at Isaac Young. Dude deserves all he’s worked hard for.
I think these guys are the most underrated rap group.they re damn good. their songs always rest with me.
One of the greatest hip-hop rap groups hands down. I put them up there with digable planets, de la soul, a tribe called quest, gang starr, man the list goes on.
This shit STILL KNOCK 🔊 🔈🔊
Facts
This track, brings back the memories - so damn good, too bad they don't make them like this these days.

I remember when this came out - this was ROCKIN in the Bronx everywhere you turned. And the instrumental was used in a million different R&B blends as well. CLASSIC SH1T right here!!!
BX !!!
I remember when they said once Puba left they wouldn't make it and Sadat and Jamar made this all time hip hop classic. I was so proud of this joint. Timeless.
I recorded this off the radio in '93 and played it repeatedly as a kid. A true classic!
A TIMELESS CLASSIC!!!!!
Real era miss growing up yhe 90s
'90s hip-hop at its finest!!
How many of yawl come back to hear How Lord jamar flowed back then...lol i use to bump this often frfr much respect to these TRUE pioneers of hip hop💯💯💯
Dope ass 90’s HIPHOP!! Salute to Brand Nubian!!💯‼️👑💪🏾
No Grand Puba and Brand Nubian Still Delivered! Had This On Cassette Single And The Remix Was Fire Too!
This what lm talking bout.
Straight gangster with FIST JABS
to a sucker jaw. No guns. LOVE IT
The simplicity is what makes Hip Hop and a nice break never hurts either
It was the golden age for a reason, when the clean versions of tracks were just as bumpin as the album version
Greeno Yesss there are parts of the censored version I like even more than the explicit version! You don’t feel like you missing out with the censored version. Today the censored versions be sounding dumb. Like in the uncensored version of Big Ole Freak when Meg says:
“I'm a big ole freak, I love to talk my shit
And you must be a pussy boy, if you get offended”
But in the censored version she says:
“And you must be a *friendly* boy if you get offended”
Wtf lol it makes me cringe every time.
This is Vlad's ringtone for Lord Jamar! Lol
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao
American Made Lol 😂 I’m not gonna be doing this wit y’all and these comments.

2020 and still beating down punks!
This is one of the coolest hip hop songs of all time. Classic banger.
Lord Jamar hasnt aged a day, still looks exactly the same in 2018
Well except now he doesn't have have hair
true he did look 50 when he was 25
Clean living
Jamar would have been one of those punks on the floor.
Gayest comment ever.Period
On my list of all-time greatest hip-hop tracks ever.
Met Sadat X He is a True down to Earth Brother. Much Respect To X.
🔥2024🔥I was in high school when this came out. Classic
I remember when they played this on Martin. This song is from their in god we trust album.
I always thought they said "Hearns about to get beat down".
Withdreday I love brand Nubian they always had a playful and militant style about them. I guess that is what made them unique.
😆😅🤣😂😄
They should have played THIS version in Martin.
Lol 😂 yep and I was laughing at this back then when they played this song on Martin.
Y can't we go back to this type of rap 😢😢
Because rappers of this moment don't have the soul of cats back then.
You why because the rap and music from back then actually had a meaning and message. This 💩 today is some of the cause of our youth of today losing their damn mind. Try playing some of this music to them and watch implode SHMFH
Well we were able to experience this type. We are meant to evolve. Evolution doesn’t equate to greatness but it put things we appreciate into perspective.
Brand Nubian might me one of the best names ever.
Much respect to Puba, but Brand Nubian could definitely hold their own without him. This song is straight fire.
True
I kinda had that same worry, as soon as that tape went off with Allah U Akbar, all doubts vanished into thin air.
If you want to know what real hiphop sounds like this is a perfect example
Youngns please take notes....to the lyrics, rhyme, rhythm and flow. This is HIP HOP this is RAP✊🏾
"old men die and the world keeps spinning". Young people are to busy having fun and honestly they don´t give a shit about taking notes about a fuking rap son(thankfuly¡). Wish i were Young agin.
That young stuff sucks
Had this cassette on constant replay back n the day🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In 2023 Punks Still Jump Up to get Beat Down!

That horn tho

Martin Lawrence vs. Tommy "Hitman" Hearns!
THAT WAS THE REMIX!!!
The 90's was everything ! ❤
For those who may have doubted BN after GP went solo, this is what you get. Peace to Diamond D for freaking that Lou Donaldson’s “It’s Your Thing” sample and just when you thought that was the salt in the wound loops the hell out of the horns on “Gonna Fly Now” from “Rocky”.....absolute genius
I’m not gonna lie but this is my first time seeing Lord Jamar rapping. Mad respect to the God!
Graham Zulu facts! Salute to the God!
I bet u knew him from vladtv before realizing he an old school vet!
Its a generation thing! This was 🔥
Listen to the whole CD....
Listen to Love me or Leave me alone , Jamar goes in
Ahhh, the glory days of hip hop
This is a funky ass beat.
That's how I felt when a neighborhood bully tried....key word tried to test me.... I been prepared for him to try me..... let's say I gave him everything he was looking for,he didn't have to look no where else 😂😂😂
Hell yeah lol get some ! I can relate lmao 💪🏼 punks jump up! 👊🏼🤜🏼👇🏼
Straight like that Mr. Bill!! LOL 😂
He got nothing but abuse.
Met Sadat X standing in a bank line in the Bronx back in the late 90's. Cool brotha!
Highly underrated song and group!!!
"Punks Jump Up, to Get Beat down" 💯
INDEED
The beat bangs in 2018-2019! 🎷 horns
You know, I often flip-flop when it comes to my favorite Brand Nubian record, but right here - right now, Imma have to rock w/ this one. I'm going off of feelings and time. Them brothas was gettin' down on that microphone. And, that beat plays in my head all the time. 1993, my favorite year for music, overall. Lord Jamar acknowledged me in one of his live streams so that means we really are family. I love him.
LaChele you fine as hell ... LaChele
LaChele 94 was actually the better year
@@enigmaticmusic6242 bullshit 93 was better overall. But this song is 92.
93 or 94 comes down to illmatic vs 36 Chambers. I like illmatic more.
@@jasonmckillip5936 Nah you have to look a wide range of albums not just 1 or two. The amount of quality albums in 1993 was incredible. 88 and 93 take the cake.

This shit never get old . I can pump this all year long.
