Sometimes the bad things that happen in our life put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us

A friend of mine was an occupational therapist in a country that had recently been at war. When the victims of bombs and landmines had recovered sufficiently to commence rehabilitation, she found herself treating people who six months previously had been the enemy. She had lost members of her own family during the war from terrible acts, and when confronted with this situation she had to think long and hard. She decided that the war had to end somewhere and healing of spirit as well as body had to be worked on. Her empathy truly guided her into acts of enormous compassion.

This was a great insightful and compassionate talk on understanding why people with mental health problems end up in prison and on how best to support them. It starts with empathy… Really valuable to listen to your experiences.

Empathy does enable the individual at the other end feels that somebody somehow cares and it lifts the load and opens up the conversation to sensitively guide away from negative thoughts disorder to a positive one that "there can be light at the end of the tunnel" to embrace life and stay focussed

Empathy is very hard to truly define. It’s easy to say it’s the ability to feel another’s emotions but in retrospect it’s more like catching them. The only way you’d truly know another’s feelings is if you were them; empaths are just really good at understanding emotions behind the invisible wall put up to hide from the public eye; we can be wrong and there are ways we can be mindful and save ourselves from the indefinite emotional overloads but for all intensive purposes we can see raw emotions, rooted emotions. From there an empath may respond with skills they developed for other means to either soften the emotional load off, clear mental obstacles, repair bonds or form new ones, and or understand/learn new skills to better their abilities.
Reasoning and circumstances for empaths also vary, some due it to cope with the overload, others because they want to see someone heal, some want to understand themselves so they learn emotional ques to later look for in themselves.
To be honest I think empathy is more of lifestyle than a skill….

You don't need to empathize or comprehend why another being exists, it's just in our best interests to respect that it does...

Empathy should be unlimited if a person is redeemable. Doesn't matter what they did in the past, if they regret those actions and want to be better, then they are redeemable. They deserve empathy.

Empathy is a complex emotion and can vary in intensity and duration depending on the individual and the situation. It can range from feeling a brief moment of understanding to experiencing deep and long-lasting empathy towards someone. The extent of empathy can also depend on factors such as one's personal experiences, cultural background, and emotional capacity. Ultimately, the limits of empathy are subjective and can vary greatly from person to person.

Empathy is NOT hard to define.
Empathy is the ability to feel want another is experiencing.
It is a level of Enlightenment, of experiencing oneness to different degrees.
One of empathy can out their consciousness inside of another and experience for themselves the pains, suffering of the other in order to offer them help.
A true Empath responds to those by offering EXACTLY what it is they need to do to move away from that suffering, that misery.
    That is very simple.
    thank you

You’re describing the attributes of an empath. Someone could not be a empath but can have empathy on occasions. That’s why it’s hard to define.
Im definitely not an empath but I can be empathetic at times.

Empaths don’t exist…. Having human EMPATHY is a skill developed and had by all who aren’t psychopaths. You literally need to develop empathy towards humans otherwise you become a danger to society who doesn’t care about anyone else.
