This is the one for me. Going beyond 800 nits for brightness seems pointless if you can't also pair this with industry-leading contrast. The only time bright TV's are of any use is when retailers are trying to sell them on the shop floor
One word of advice if I may? If you buy an oled, the second you fire it up, load RUclips and run one of the uniformity test patterns in the 2%-50% grayscales. If I hadn't bought my oled at Costco, I would have ended up with a potato. The verticle (and horizontal) banding was tragic. I didn't really have time during the holidays to use the unit until I would have been out of just about every return window of every other retailer, and LG would have been zero help. I just boxed it back up and returned it for another sample that turned out to be much, much better. Not perfect, but probably 95% better than the original. Just make sure you test it well while you are in your return window. Do not leave it until you have to deal with LG...
@@tommyjongen of course Tom! Search RUclips for "oled grayscale test pattern" and run them on your display you are currently using. It will show saturated grays from 5% to usually above 50%, and that is precisely where OLEDs have verticle and horizontal banding issues. Now, of course you may not see anything on your current display, but you will see what I mean. As soon as you get home with your new OLED, load the RUclips app from webOS operating system on the tv and search the same test pattern. If it has terrible verticle or horizontal streaking, take it back immediately and get another one. I bought mine at Costco, and had no issue taking it back, but LG wanted to string me along and claim that the set was fine. It wasn't. Anything in the greys or saturated color content looked horrible. The test patterns make it extremely easy to pin down the issue. RUclips has a few great videos on oled verticle banding. Search them and get aqainted with the issue. If you avoid the bad panels, there is nothing that can compare. I love my C8, but there are issues to be careful about.
