+813lynch Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Pantera was going to do a cover of this song. after Dime died, it was never released. But Vinnie Paul is in Hellyeah, and he got the guitar part from the cover Pantera was doing and put it in this song. so yeah, if you read an article saying a song of his was going to be released, then this was probably it. If it wasn't this one, then we have yet another Dimebag song to look forward to!

I love that they used old Dimebag recordings for this... I would say the best use ever of his recordings after he left us was Nickelback's "Side Of A Bullet" which was a song about losing Dimebag... When I first heard that song no one warned me ahead of time that they used his recordings... When I heard the solo & his trademark guitar squeal i had goosebumps on my arms & almost cried... there's no mistaking his sound.

Hellyeah is an amazing band
I expected more because it's Dime but after 2 listens I have to say that the licks are incorporated nicely and it's a great gesture towards Dime's fans that they made this at all. Will definitely come back to listen some more but right now I gots to get me some Vulgar Display.

And I am very happy for him too. Everybody ends up going their separate ways in life usually. Everybody branches out to home in on their skills and allow them to evolve into something more. At first when Hellyeah came out, I just thought of the group as a hardcore version of southern rockabilly with a metal twist. Now, I just see them as typical metal scene sellouts.

After Hellyeah finished basic tracking for the record, the idea of adding a cover to Unden!able started to be tossed around. By coincidence, guitarist Christian Brady suggested the Phil Collins cut, not knowing Dimebag Darrell and Hellyeah / Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul had recorded an unreleased version of the song with Damageplan.
The Damageplan version never saw the light of day and it took Vinnie Paul three weeks to find the lost recording

I'm a big fan of Hellyeah, since day one, and I absolutely loved Blood For Blood...I'm not sure about this new album though, or at least what I've heard of it.

RIP Dime. Need to start a petition for getting a Pantera reunion show or tour using a Dime hologram like the Tupac at Coachella thing. Using old recordings of Dime playing the songs live. Was reminiscing about the greatness that was Dime and how to do a show without using some sub Dime stand in.

Well Pantera was destined to come apart ,because of the addiction between them all.
The original was more of a content victory lap from escaping a long term relationship of narcissistic abuse while getting smear campaigned. The tone of this version is more true to life of how infuriating it is. Both lack the sense of extreme pain and trauma it causes to be that thoroughly betrayed.

Rebel Meets Rebel was even strange for me because that musical bond that the guys from Pantera had. Musically it's almost inseparable in my opinion. Not saying the song is bad at all it's just difficult to adjust to.

And comments like this are nothing but an echo chamber of people who like jerking each other off for how much better their taste is than other people's when in reality it's not.
Go to the video for literally any song, no matter how good or bad you think it is and you'll see these exact same comments about this being "real music". And bonus points if you go to one that's pre 2000 because then you'll get the classic "[insert any pre-00's decade]'s music is so much better, they don't make *real music* like this anymore"
It's an overused phrase that's lost all meaning.
And for the record I actually enjoy Hellyeah and most of the members respective bands. (Especially Pantera and Mudvayne's first album L.D. 50) but I'm not going to act like it's something it's not, it's nothing more than easy listening, radio friendly, hard rock that's nice to listen to on the way to work and back and there's nothing wrong with that.

I love this cover song but also like Saint Asonias take on it as well, because it has more of the 80s feel to it. But this describes everything that I'm going through at the moment.
