Paul wrote this song about his relationship drama at the time. It's a pretty personal song, so I reckon none of us can fully understand it. I love the background vocals as well!
I’ve always loved this song. The entire album is phenomenal. In fact, their whole catalogue is stunning! You got it right when you say “There’s no such thing as a bad Beatles song”. Great background vocals in this one. 🌺✌️
I would argue that "Maxwell's Silver hammer" IS a bad song. However, at that point, nobody cared enough to tell Paul it was a dud. That pattern carried on right through his solo carrier, sadly. (BTW - McCartney's Beatles work is mostly sensational IMHO)
as a diehard beatles fan, these sorts of videos make me feel really happy and fuzzy inside, as they remind me of the first time when i heard those songs
I was born in 67 so I missed the boat the first time around, but became a fan in the 70s. My parents had some of their albums. Later on I bought more some on LP and CD'S ..Long live the Fab 4 !!!
Jayy- Thanks for reacting to this great Paul McCartney song. Its been a while since I have heard this one but it always was one of my fav Beatle songs.
At this stage , the words were more trivial than the bent philosophy that showed up later . Still , for a second , they do touch on something pretty real . You can get pretty obsessed with somebody you cant have . John is singing the ridiculously catchy background part .
I LOVE to see the Beatles music being experienced by other folks. To watch them and see that look that you recognize...they are hearing some of the greatest mysic of all time. With that said, and with all due respect, I don't think you should get too hung up in the lyrics. The Beatles themselves have always said that the lyrics shouldn't be taken too literally. They paint a hazy picture and let you fill in some of the colors. Sometimes the words mean exactly what they say, but even then, you can interpret them as you wish.
Lol, Paul was going through some things. His (young actress) girlfriend worked in traveling theatre groups and wasn’t always available to see him when they came off the road. “We have lost the time that was so hard to find.”
Right off the bat, you've got to dig what Ringo is doing. Any other drummer would be keeping simple time but not him! The whole album was a signpost to a new direction for the group. Brilliant!
I dont think i have managed to catch a video with 0 on all stats since like 2014 haha. But i cant help but jump in and see someone discover one of the under appreciated great classics
I think the situation is explained at the beginning: "When I called you up, your line's engaged. I have had enough, so act your age. We have lost the time that was so hard to find. I will lose my mind, if you won't see me" - that should explain it!
I know you’d love ❤️ to watch the Beatles documentary called ‘Beatles Anthology’ it’s several hours long but it’s very detailed and includes their final recordings with George.
Lol, I am a HUGE Beatles fan but I’ll be the first to admit that they’ve made some songs like ‘Wild Honey Pie’ and ‘Revolution #9} that may or may not have been written while suffering from a hangover or the influence of some colorful medication! 🤣🤣🤣 In regards to your question, “what did you do that made her not want to see you....?” If you listen to the lyrics from ‘Run For Your Life” off the same Rubber Soul album, you may get a REALLY good idea why she doesn’t want to see him! It’s a not so veiled “warning.” 😱 Before someone points out this song was sung by Paul while the latter is sung by John, it’s off the same album and from what I understand, Paul was no saint either. He just had a prettier face. Lol 🤷♀️ Here’s the link... you be the judge.... ruclips.net/video/yzHXtxcIkg4/видео.html
Always people shitting on Wild Honey Pie and Revolution 9. Those are not the Beatles songs that suck. They’re noise songs and they’re cool. The songs that suck are the corny nursery rhyme horse shit that Paul needed to impose on every album from revolver on.
You have to react to Oh Darling. Paul’s voice is iconic in this song. He practiced this song until he could get real high and hold the note. It’s a awesome song!! Check it iut
Aw wow I've rejoined at a great time, this is one of my very favourite Beatles tunes for the melody alone. You don't get melodies anymore. Melodies still exist with underground northern soul/Motown type of artists but they're passed over for top 40 attention seekers with rubbish perfumes or something to flog. Good shout with the "oooh la la La's" btw 😉
Jane and Paul had a lot of problems. She was an actress pursuing her career. Which is completely understandable. But Paul wanted a wife and children. Of course, I don't know them personally and I sure as heck wasn't there. But, by all reports they simply couldn't meet each other's needs. Paul wanted her by his side. She would be packing up to do an acting gig. They fought about it a lot. Which was unfair to Jane. Maybe Paul loved her but he wasn't in love with her. He had always been prolific sexually. Not good for a relationship. But Jane was aware of what he was doing. So she was staying with him with full knowledge of his actions. Still, it was just as frustrating to Paul as it was to Jane and Paul put his feelings into his songs. This was one when they'd fought again. Once they broke up, he met Linda. They fell in love and he adopted her six year old daughter, and he and Linda had 3 more children of their own. They were together 29 years until she died of breast cancer. But she was by his side in good times and bad. After the Beatles broke up, Paul fell into a depression. He drank heavily and wouldn't get out of bed. But she was there for him; something Jane wouldn't have been able to do. Linda coaxed him back into the studio and he began to make music again. Interestingly, even with his past history of seeing multiple women at the same time before he got married, (except with Linda) he was the only one of the band that was completely monogamous. He took his vows seriously.
The Beatles wrote and recorded songs that would have been career-making hits for any other performer, and just buried them on albums because they had THAT many bangers.
Paul had huge relationship drama with Jane. The other beatles all went to live in the suburbs and Paul decided to live with his girlfriend's upper class family in London. She was a famous actress, a couple of years younger than him. Her parents were upper class. They were very liberal in terms of sex. Did he love her? maybe? he was totally in love with her family, his mother was a social climber and she died when he was 14. He desperately wanted a mother to look after him and do his laundry. Jane was his free pass to the very fancy artistic scene. He cheated on her constantly, one longterm girlfriend, plus God only knows how many groupies, etc. Jane turned a blind eye most of the time. Finally caught him in bed with a third rate other girlfriend, after they were engaged. It seems she was unaware of the longterm other girlfriend.
I agree with almost everything you said. But one correction. Paul's mother was not a social climber. She was a midwife. Paul was raised in a middle class family who worked very hard. And, yes, she did die when he was 14. From cancer.
What a giant drop of ear candy. From the harmony in the vocals to the fantastic percussion to the insane bass line. Just chills the whole way through.
The harmony vocals in this song are just insane. I REALLY dig this middle-phase Beatles music.
Paul wrote this song about his relationship drama at the time. It's a pretty personal song, so I reckon none of us can fully understand it. I love the background vocals as well!
Haven't thought about this song in years. It's another great Beatles' song!

Beatles clear. Goated band.
AWESOME SONG! How good are they?!? WOW!! Thanks!
The Beatles are simply the best and I love your reactions. ❤
One of my all time favourite Beatles songs. Good choice.
Anne Murray covered You Won't See Me in 1975 and hit #1 on the pop chart. Well worth reviewing!
Jayy- Thanks for reacting to this great Paul McCartney song. Its been a while since I have heard this one but it always was one of my fav Beatle songs.
one of the songs that makes Rubber Soul my desert island album
The Beatles are a gift to the world and life without The Beatles, it would be a sad world.
One of Paul’s best and that’s saying a lot. Enjoyed your reaction.

The duality of White album.
My favorite Beatles album.
My favorite Beatles Lp is Revolver

So genius how you won’t see me had a different meaning at the beginning to the end.
One of my favourite songs from Rubber Soul
Great reaction.. If I didn't know better you drifted for a few seconds there 😁👌
Good song good reaction
Try listening to this whole album
It’s so great, meshes together
It’s my favourite Beatles album.
It's a good one this! Did you do For No One yet? It's a beauty. Thanks Lady!!
Im impressed, at least you really listen to the lyrics... most reviewers dont. And comment on the backround vocals.. nice job .

Paul is singing about his breakup with girlfriend Jane Asher.

the harmonies were probably there because at the time pet sounds had been released and they had to compete at the time
Brian Wilson said that he was so blown away by Rubber Soul that he was forced to up his game and write and record Pet Sounds.
What did anyone do?

the beatles never really wrote explicitly personally emotional songs. there is always an elusiveness to their lyrial compositions.
The Beatles wrote and recorded songs that would have been career-making hits for any other performer, and just buried them on albums because they had THAT many bangers.
Never any comments about the music
Jayy, you should check out Bryan Ferry's cover of this one.
This is a good song but surprisingly I like the Anne Murray cover better, probably because it’s the first version I heard
she wont answer the phone so he cannot speak to her , and obviously has no idea why.
You have a good point. What did you do! But I guess.....
No bad Beatles songs very very few regular songs

Didn't Jane's brother Peter have a few hits as a member of Peter & Gordon ?

Javy, Why don't you do a reaction video with my favorite Motown song You Really Got A Hold On Me ( The Miracles) ?
Love the harmonies! The scuttle but is that Paul had an affair that upset his steady girlfriend.
Listen to the song nowhere man. Same album!! That’s a good song
paul was having trouble with his gf at the time. so he wrote this and jane asher his gf at the time. .

Fantastic
An album filler that other groups would have put out as a single.
It's a short song, not enough time to explain details.
