Soon we see the 1 MILLION subs video. Abom and Tony meet up, having made go-karts for each other. It's a musical episode, their dogs/cats/bunnies frolic in the background. The Schaublin and Maho fight to be most-beloved friesmaschine, whilst Tony's family ride motorbikes through burning hoops - hoops made on a GIANT ring-roller. Harrison Ford arrives. "Hey kid, thanks for watchin' " he says, sharpening a drill bit. Nobody can use a sine bar. Tony won't let anyone leave until they can. A die-filer, visibly weeping far away, remembers the good old days. The word "subscribe" reflected in it's tears.

I’m glad to see some love for the straight razor. I’m not much for shaving in general, but when I do, I can’t stand doing it with anything but a straight razor. It just makes my skin feel so much better and I get less irritation from regrowth or skin drying out. If anyone out there has never tried it, I highly recommend you take Tony’s advice and find an old timey barber - that’s how I was introduced. My barber while I was stationed in the UK did back of the neck, sideburns, etc. with one, and I never looked back.

Totally true about straight razor shaving. The learning curve is precipitous but after a few attempts it is very satisfying to stand in a steamy bathroom with a glass of Knob Creek Kentucky Bourbon and a shaving mug and brush. Here is a tip: unless you are a just post-pubescent young man learning to shave what amount to little more than the soft down of a ripe peach (I.e., if you’re not 12 yo) shave with your normal razor first, then use the straightedge. The stubble your 4-blade disposable leaves behind is more than enough for you to learn to remove. And you will need stiptic to staunch the inevitable nicks. It’s easy to find in the pet store for people who trim their dog’s nails too short. Love the video. ToT, finest kind.

I agree on #5. The feather blades are a great value, providing good price and great performance. Some of the vintage safety razors use a twist knob to flap open the top, but they seem to gunk up frequently. The style that unscrews into three pieces (like the one you show) is definitely my favorite. You have to shave slowly and gently to avoid looking like you attempted suicide, but...it's only ten cents a shave. When it's the beard season, I only shave my neck once a week. That means its a heavy scruff to remove, and the safety razor easily does a mow job that would clog a two-blade disposable.

The irony of your Feather razor blade tip is not wasted on those of us who subscribe to TOT for insights on sharp cutting edges producing fine surface finishes. Following up your nothing-less-than courageous departure from the norm, I would like to add that in my own ongoing search for a remedy to the 3/32 stubble problem, I discovered (while working abroad) that Weleda Shaving Cream works wonders on both the comfort and finish fronts; no nicks or burns and a shave that lasts half a day instead of half a shift. You’re probably not going to find it at your local CVS, but track down a tube. The discriminating will appreciate the difference.

Good to spend the extra cash for a heavier, better handle, IMO. Especially if you tend to shake or twitch. Feather blades are the best. Also, if you get razor bumps the disposables with 5+ blades in them seem to make it worse, just one good pass with safety razor is better.

A Double Edge Safety Razors, and the Feather blades are the BEST! The Feather brand is the Sharpest DE (double edge) safety razor blades made today. No surprise they're made in Japan :-)
Put those blades with a good butterfly razor (my preference at least) and you got a winning razor combo, that Hands Down will beat ANY and ALL of these "modern" throw away razors.
There is a small learning curve to a double edge razor, and a blade that works great for one mans beard might not work as good for someone else. However, with being able to change blades to any brand you wish, it also means you can customize your razor until you get the results you want. I would advise to buy a Assorted pack of blades, then you can try many different brands of blades, until you find the perfect one for you!
Double edge and straight razors not only can give you a Much closer shave, but they will also reduce and stop razor burn, bumps, and other irritation... once you learn to use them correctly, and find the right combination of Blade and Shaving cream.
And once you learn what you're doing, and you find your favorite brand of blades, you will Never go back :-) And after the initial investment, they are FAR cheaper than "modern" throw away and replacement cartridge junk razors too.
Straight razors are cool too. Little more expense, BUT its a One Time expense, and a straight razor can last many many years. Never have to worry about replacing them really, just have to keep them sharp.
Either way, you need a good shaving cream. If you (whoever is reading this...?) are still using "shaving cream" out of a aerosol can... you are really missing out.
Instead, throw the can out, and find a GOOD lather shaving soap. Then get a lather mug and good brush. A quality lather shaving soap can make a Day and Night difference in shaving.
There are some great RUclips channels about Double Edge and Straight Razors too. As they have become nearly forgotten about by most today.
