  • Friday, May 3 2024, the “Thun Reliance” was launched in a festive event on site at the yard in Leer, Germany. The vessel was named by Godmother Camilla Dimberg, Head of Physical Management at Preem. Upon delivery, the Thun Reliance will enter a long-term employment with Preem. The vessel will be technically managed by MF Shipping Group and is built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit.
The “Thun Reliance” is the second in a series of eight ordered ’Resource Efficiency’ sisters. The vessels have an industry-first innovative design with adaptive propulsion to minimize energy usage, ready for shore electricity connection, battery pack, the latest hull design and the newest and most resource efficient machinery. The ordered vessels are part of Thun Tankers fleet renewal program, carefully tailor-made to reduce the climate footprint and meet the client’s future demands.
"We are proud and pleased to be able to add Thun Reliance to our growing fleet of long-term chartered tonnage. We are convinced that the vessel, with its improvements in cargo capacity and fuel consumption, as well as other emission-reducing measures, is well suited for Preem’s and our customers’ requirements and will contribute to the transformation towards a sustainable society."
Daniel Berndolf, head of the shipping department at Preem
