I was too young when the original GB came out. I would’ve loved to experienced that in the theater back then. Consequently, I’ve seen it in theaters since but it’s a digital version which takes away the experience of watching it in film. Hard to believe it’s been 40 years but it’s been a part of the American pop culture scene for that time! After watching the new film, it’s apparent even further it’s impossible to capture the lighting in a bottle the original had. 40 years ago, studios weren’t at least to our knowledge wasn’t making mandates on checking on all the diversity, and thinking a universe of films, and to make it kid friendly. GB, was made by a group of talented people and it wasn’t intended for just kids, but we gravitated towards it.

Despite my mixed feelings about the film, it was great to see movies like this when they came out and audiences were less jaded and also had no idea what was going to happen, like "He slimed me." The audience roared.

@@RetroView66 great point! This could apply to the horror genre ie: the exorcist 1973. Audiences wasn’t prepared for what was to come. And now 50 years later; it is harder now to gain the audience’s attention. Especially when most have seen it over many times over…

im based in Europe but i saw it at a very young age in the theatre...i remember i was blown away about the special effects especially those scenes with slimer in the hotel ..it had evrything ..fun, adventure, danger, ghosts and the paranormal world..Back in these times (70, 80s) going the movie theatre was a magic event , you were literally stepping into a other world...when the movie was finished and you were stepping outside in the daily light again, it took some minutes before you really get into the reality of daily life again..i miss those magic times of cinema

It did feel like entering a new world everytime. Even films like GB I remember stepping out after the show into the Friday night to play games at the arcade and go shopping at Tower Records and...

Great video. Shocking there wasn't even a basic Blu-ray of The Razor's Edge.

I had to add a correction to the channel description as THE RAZOR'S EDGE came out in a very nice blu-ray disc in 2022! Still needs a better remaster (from 70mm!) but this looks the best I've ever seen it.

@@RetroView66 Yeah that's where I was -- but some vendors sell a DVD, but have the title mistakenly as Bluray -- the choices are: Prime Video, DVD, VHS Tape. Guess I'll just try it and find out! Heh.
