    I did an old gucci bag. Soaked it for a few minutes and used Vaseline instead of leather repair. I also used acetone to strip the inside of its peeling coating. It held and look pretty nice.

    Your bag turned out beautifully! I never knew you could put water on leather without ruining the leather. I have a white Coach bag that had gotten so dirty through use I had put it away. I made a solution of water and dishwashing liquid, wiped it down with a cloth and applied leather conditioner. It looks like new and I can use it again. Hopefully I will be able to get out this summer to use it. Thank you. It is very special to have your Mom’s bag.

    The bag looks so clean and the leather is gorgeous! My mom had this exact same bag and she ended up donating it because the leather looked so damaged. Only if she knew or I knew back then that it was somewhat reversible! Thanks for sharing this!!💕

    There's nothing like the leather of the vintage Coach bags. My 'Stewardess" was pretty dusty inside so I turned it inside out before washing it. The way Coach processed its leathers in the vintage bags is what allows us to submerge and return them to their original beauty. Not to be done with other types of leather though. The stains make it look even more perfect. Great job!

      any tips on how to clean at home mulberry leather purse? dirty outside and pretty dirty inside too

    • @MeetPenelope
      @MeetPenelope  2 года назад +1

      I would start by checking with Mulberry, first. They may have a recommendation for cleaning. Not all leathers can be submerged like the Coach. Good luck!

    I was never a fan of coach but I never realized how beautiful their vintage bags are. I always thought they were Chinese bags.
    I found one on marketplace for a price I couldn’t let go. It’s from the 80s made in USA and looks like it’s pretty clean. I’m not sure if I should go through the whole process of cleaning it or just leave it alone.

    hi, Penelope! great video, thank you for sharing your process! im hoping to follow the same w/ my vintage Coach bag, it's butterscoth yellow color and a little bit more in used-condition but w/ plenty of wear life left! do you also take the conditioner to the inside panels of the bag? i think yours is the same, but the inside panel of my bag is more of a that raw hide finish and wondering if conditioning the inside is also necessary. thank you so much! xoxo

    • @MeetPenelope

    I have a old Liz Claiborne bag. It's cowhide leather, a cross between suede and smooth leather but a little more suede. I really love it. It's the perfect size and fits everything. But I don't know how to clean it!!! It's extremely dirty. Can I use the same for it??

    • @MeetPenelope
      @MeetPenelope  Год назад

      If it were just cowhide, I'd give it a try, but since it's suede, I don't think it will work😕 You might have to go with standard suede cleaner.

    I don't know about the soaking the whole purse underwater thing. Using Dawn dishwashing soap is good, but most people just sponge it on, the soap and water on the outside of the purse. Use sanitizing wipes for the inside. There is a little thing called mold and mildew, which only takes a few hours while damp to start growing inside of the purse. Your video was interesting, but I think that I will stick with my methods.

    • @MeetPenelope
      @MeetPenelope  3 года назад

      I'm not an expert, but there are a few things you can try. They make bag deodorizer sachets with charcoal (on Amazon) that might help. Or you can make your own with baking soda, which is a great deodorizer as well. Good luck!
