- About 18 months ago I purchased a comic collection for under $300. Over the last 18 months, that $300 has turned into over $14,000! Let’s check out the current comic inventory in this comic business!

This is my favorite series of comic videos on the ‘tube. I would like to once again recommend naming your “side business” as Semi-Automatic Comics. The name’s right there. It writes itself!

I did a similar thing but with vintage and used electric guitars. It was quite successful as I have amassed a collection of over 60 guitars and amps (current value $32K) that all stemmed from an original $50 starting purchase. Love your videos, thanks!

You've done a great job in showing how systematically you build up the value of an inventory. All too often, people make false assumptions that with a few cheap purchases, it's possible to have a high value inventory. It takes time and patience along with consistent flips to get where you are with this. Kudos!

I was at a con many years ago where they were giving away AMS Annual 2 for ten dollars each! Those were the days, late 1980s.

Amazing since it is so hard to sell comics at fmv at todays comic market. I encounter many buyers want 20 to 50% below fmv.
I started with 8k during the first year of the comic boom. My collection today is worth roughly 30k now. 300 to 14k is way more impressive
Very nice ROI. The problem I have is that I want to always keep a good amount of the books I pick up....I'd have a ton of value added to my collection without a ton of cash to show for it.

I'm shocked that you could pick up 3 of those books for $300, I know you wouldn't want to give up your secret sources but maybe you can give us some general ideas of how we could find collections. Even turning $300 into $1200 would be appealing to most folks I bet!

Does the youtube algorithm take into account what's in the comment to create engagement? Or can I just type "Engagement" or "Great video" to help boost the video? I never have anything worthwhile to say but I want to help boost the videos lol. Just wondering if they do a filtering to stop bot comment spam from boosting a video.
There are some people that just write single words to help engagement. I have to think anything helps.

I feel for the person who had the collection and you only gave them 300 dollars. Damn,man, You should have been honest with him about the real value of his collection.
I was. You can go back and watch my original video when I purchased it. I talk all about it. I didn’t make $14,000 off of that collection. This was from buying and selling a lot of books over the last 18 months.
