@@dakillah6018 Because they dont specialize in knives etc. They are a big corp and they will use the cs name for sales. Why do you think they bought it? They didn't purchase the company to ensure higher quality knives etc. They purchase it for the fans and customers. Lets look at this walking cane. No screw on head???? O ring compression fit handle??? One day in the hot sun with your weight on it its done. Im not going to even address the lil black plastic tip on the whip. I own a few of the older swords like the cutlass etc and they are far better quality than whats online rn even if you purchased the same one it wont match the quality. Look these companies are here to make money and go global. The American push is over and Lynn is one of the last sellouts. He should have passed down in his family. Even though he owned the name none of his product brought jobs to the homeland. He always had them made over seas. Now you have a company that is going to move some stuff around and make a profit. Thats why i said what i said. Improve it and charge more or id say the company will flop in less than a decade. I know im done with them. Im not the only man who knows this.

Man, if there ever is a knives hall-of fame, Lynn Thomson will surelly be one of the first added.
His contributions to the functional knife and sword world cannot be overstated.
In a world where knives are manufactured as expensive and often impractical man-jewelry, this man has brought to us thought-out practical products for years, and even married the collector and practical worlds of swords, honoring historic blades at a reasonable price. Dude could easily retire, he's achieved more than enough. But he keeps working: that's true passion for the craft.
He's the man! Knife royalty for sure.

I remember seeing Lynn at the Cold Steel parking lot sales, walking the line of people waiting to get in, shaking hands, having conversation, he is a really nice guy who loved his company and his customers. The other thing that really impressed me about Lynn is that he NEVER advocated using a knife to slash someones face, he always taught people to exert enough pain to get your attacker to stop trying to hurt you, and for you to have enough time to retreat. The part about slashing someones face, I heard him say this, you never want to scar someone for life like that because even though they are doing something bad now, you don't want to impose something like that on them forever. They could change their ways in the future, and you don't want to leave them with a scar like that. Such a good hearted guy. I don't know why he sold the company, its never been revealed, but I hope the best for Lynn and hope he is doing well and enjoying life.

I made a similar item. Bought a Carbon fiber golf club from a charity shop for £5. Removed the handle, took a walking stick handle I already had, and epoxied a 10mm thick steel cable into it. Shoved a rubber ferrule on the end of the stick, and the cable fits nicely inside the carbon fiber shaft. I covered the join between the stick and handle with a short section of inner tube. I think I'll steal the idea of the O rings and use them instead.

OG Lin, ad 2 accessories, a pepper spray, in the handle with 2 replaceable canisters, and an option to add an arrow head to the tip of whip. To do some real slashing damage.
I built a whip like that myself, but I used a lug at the end, frayed the tip open, and let the point soak in salt water for a week, giving me the rusted wire tip that cuts and infects all the way to the bank.
Yes if adrenaline pumps, they still attack, that's why I recommend the pepper spray and slash point. That way, you incapacitate the person. They have a bloody sticky wound.

Maybe I’m wrong but it looks to me to be too long in length. Seems somewhat unwieldy. There’s a good chance of whacking bystanders while drawing the thing and it’s momentum after the strike would slow it down on its return.
Suppose you miss? There would be a lot of time for the would-be assailant to attack while the thing is on its return.
I feel it would be more effective, faster, more precise and more easily manageable if it were half the length. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I definitely prefer my united cutlery self Defense cane. It’s permitted on planes and imo quicker for a first strike!

Very good point - the CS African Walking Stick is a couple of inches to long for me and the carry knob does not lend itself to a secure carry due to its large size as well.

When you're getting beat up, its too late to draw the whip. My suggestion is, as soon as there's a dispute, draw it and seing for the hills 😂😂😂

Yes, get charged with aggravated felonious assault. It's not self defense if you make the first move. At least wait til they're actually coming at you and you have cause to fear for your safety.

Lynn: fixed the CANE WHIP RATTLE WHEN WALKING ISSUE. Cut a few 1 inch pieces of memory foam. Pushed them in cane with whip. No more rattle. Does not affect whip use but keeps it in stealth mode when using it as a cane.
