What he said about Kobe def went over a lot of peoples mind. Kobe’s game being based of that pivot meant he always had literally every option at his disposal.
I’ve always said this about Kyrie. Kyrie doesn’t have a “go-to” move, no signature size up move, his game is literally based on what the defense is doing. Just counter moves. Whatever the defense is trying to make him do, he has a counter. And he does it so effortlessly, fluid and on the fly. Like such an incredible basketball savant, crazy IQ and muscle memory.

I totally agree. Kobe was a Cerebral Man on and off the Court. He was about Thought, planning, and study about Basketball and everything else. An intellectual.
Man when you get to a point where you legit don't care who is in front of you and you know you're killing him every which way you want... dawg... I promise you there are 0 people who wanna go at Kyrie. 0.
This defensive segment is filled with so much knowledge!!! Its crazy how Iman broke down the rhythm & play styles of players, especially how Kyrie plays defense while being on offense . Would love to pick his brain on that side of the ball
Very smart defender . U have to study your opponent to get an advantage. The next great defender in the league like that is Marcus smart. But he just a knockle head sometimes lol
the best part about the Kobe story is that Shump didn't even get to battle the best versions of Kobe since he came into the league in 2011 AFTER Kobe was done winning his 5(!) chips lol
@@ronniejones6421 It’s beyond that though it’s the counter following that part after he evaluates your positioning and the bumps/contact plus the contact *he’s* going to initiate Plus your tendencies as a defender and your body/athletic limitations like Gil always talks about whether your body is stronger or weaker on a certain side etc
Yea I don’t want to nerd out about it too much but I’ve been studying his game for a while now. Dude is a magician at protecting the ball. Watching his workouts where he gets triple teamed and has to continue his dribble and make a read and/or finish gives us a little insight. But if you watch him closely nearly all of his dribble moves are done to keep the ball away from the defender, not too shift them like a lot of guys. Guarding him is like being in an argument that you can’t win.
"Defense on offense", i love watching kyries mastery. I used to described it as "Freestyle", as if he approched the defense like a Blank canvas and he painted it which his "pencils" which most people would say is his hands but is actually the synchronimity of his feet to the way he bounces the ball just to get to where he wants to get, he just happens to have to dribble the ball lol. With all the elite offensive players in the league, why aren't NBA teams calling Shumpert to be a defensive assistant coach.... He's been dropping these types of gems for years.
I’m amazed at how many people didn’t know Shumpert knew this much about the game…y’all not watching the game inside of the game which is why KD and Draymond always say that 90% of fans don’t actually know basketball
Nah I’m starting to realize this too. A lot of fans don’t KNOW basketball. Like you get an entirely different understanding for the game when you’ve actually played and done the stuff they’re talking about and you see what they’re saying play out in real time.
The stories about Kobe are insane, and he was just as obsessed about his ability on defense while exerting all that energy on offense… mamba was one of one
Incredible mind games, the intricacies of Chess Basketball. Decyphering the rhythm of your opponent and attacking in the pocket. A whole new respect for Kyrie. Sounds like he knew how to adapt to anyone's defence and looked forward to it.
Iman needs his own show where’s he’s breaking down the elites of the game. He’s so detailed and gives the fan a perspective that you wouldn’t have unless you’ve played. Also, he’s funny af 😂
I love the actual breakdown of the game, it's like music to my ears. I feel like most fans don't understand the true chest match that goes on during a game.
Where was iman when I needed him in my basketball career? He gave out so much information on how to become a real lock down defender on top-notch scorers. It literally was like reading a book. Or listening to an audio book. With a perfect visual of my opponent
This man was always a defensive wizard and guy who could play anywhere I wish he stayed on the kings a bit longer he was getting to show his offensive skill

Like there's this little study of neymar jr take it with a grain of salt or not that says during his dribbles his brain activity isn't so much. Iman needs to be a regular on Gil’s Arena immediately
He brought more value than Brandon Jennings has in all his appearances combined
@@godsfavoritt771 Brandon too cool for school but it works. everyone has to know their role.
Iman has his own platform.
No 🧢
Too much common sense
Playing defense while on offense is the most perfect explanation of Kyrie's game
Terrifying
he has no weaknesses in his ball handling which allows him to do that. even many guards can't do that.
Basically Iman is saying, Kyrie has unlimited counter moves that he can access without thought almost like breathing
precisely, makes sense when you watch him play
Basically ultra instinct
Basically Ultra Deep Bag😂
Kyrie literally said he’s gonna throw every move until you just give up basically 😂
Terrifying
What he said about Kobe def went over a lot of peoples mind. Kobe’s game being based of that pivot meant he always had literally every option at his disposal.
That's what makes Brunson so lethal despite not being uber athletic or big. That pivot is nasty and can be devastating as a defender
He grew up in the triangle offense. The pivot is instrumental in that offense and created a way to read defenses and he mastered it.
Melo worked out the pivot. Once the put that ball behind his head, it was over. He's going where he wants
@@NoCapJayy Yea that’s true Melo did too
@NoCapJayy facts and you were at his mercy. Even Kobe once said Melo was 1 of the hardest to guard when he was in his bag.

His go-to move is every move since he's elite at everything! So EVERYTHING is his go-to move! 🤣🤣
In&Out cross behind the back combo is his signature sizeup
So why tf he cnt win 😭😭
