Very well said regarding Leeds returning to the premier League, Leeds just need to get re-established as a Top flight & get us back into The top 20 clubs in the world. On our 2nd season back financially & based on fans etc we were bigger than Everton Leicester Newcastle & West ham.. Before relegation in 04 we certainly were.

40 year old Leeds fan here. Leeds have literally being falling apart my whole adult life... There is definately something about the DNA of the club....
Other clubs do it too. Sunderland came third on 90 points in 1997/98 (the only other club to do this in the second tier), and they had the lead three times in the play off final that ended 4-4 after extra time, only to lose 7-6 on penalties. Burnley missed an open goal from four yards to win it in the final minute of tonight's game.
@@chriscoates503 I remember the Coca Cola Cup final against Villa as well .... Every final we have been in my entire life, we have played rubbish ... Not to mention the play off semi finals we have bottled and the disappointments of semi finals in Europe ..
Great neutral analysis but I think your assessment on Brendon Aaronson is harsh. He came back into the fold with a lot of Leeds fans unhappy about his return after he chose to go out on loan to Germany following relegation. But his redemption arc has been quite spectacular in my opinion. He has showed a lot of endeavour and has turned in some real great performances this season and at the moment has cemented his place in the starting 11. He has provided both goals and assists and seems to have got a lot more physical than he was in the Premier League. Also Ao Tanaka is sooo much more than an ok replacement. He is proving to be an astonishingly good signing and for around 3.5 million euros too. 👍⚪️🟡🔵
Fine margins and sliding doors.. At one point in Bielsa’s second season villa and Leeds were neighbours in the table. Villa got Emery in, Leeds eventually got Marsch. Villa now in Champion’s League, Leeds trying to get out of championship. Bielsa was a genius and a diamond of a human being, but his genius was flawed, left it too late to succeed him and brought in wrong appointment after wrong appointment. Some questionable recruitment, some bad luck, some choking when it came to the crunch. Far too soon to be talking about promotion. We have the best squad by far but then seem to struggle with the simplest thing of putting the ball in the back of the net. Too many missed opportunities and dropped points could be costly in May.
The margins weren't that fine. Radrizzani simply didn't have the money to compete in the top half of the Premier League, and the moment the recruiting didn't go perfectly, Leeds were in trouble. Orta pulled off an amazing coup by recruiting Bielsa, and he doesn't get enough credit for that, but his propensity for taking big risks eventually let the club down. When Villa won promotion to the Premier League, they were bought by a consortium with two billionaire owners and an investment group. It's those deep pockets that have really helped Villa compete at the top level. The 49ers will have deep enough pockets this time around, and it does sound like they have the commitment it will take to transform Elland Road and Leeds into the club that can compete in Europe, though obviously it's not going to be easy. Farke has already spoken of how much money Leeds will have to spend in the season after promotion (£150 million minimum) because he knows from bitter experience what happens if you spend a lot less. And given how well the new recruits are panning out, there's reason to believe the club will invest wisely with enough money when the time comes.
I think Norwich fans will tell you that the reason Farke failed in the Premier League was because the owners spent no money when they went up. It was almost as if Norwich were hoping to build a pot of money as a yo-yo club with the parachute payments, so eventually they could make the player investment they needed.
@@Dylann6420 Leeds have been developing players for years. The academy is one of the best in the country and has been for decades. Of the current side Meslier, Struijk, Joseph, Debayo, Chambers and Crew all have come through the academy even if some were bought as kids. Gray now at Spurs came through the academy. Before that we had Phillips, Davis, Milner, Woodgate, Smith, Kewell, Kelly, Harte, Lennon all through the academy. We had Finley Gorman who recently joined Man City for a seven figure fee at 15. But because you cannot offer a contract until a player is 17 they can get poached by other clubs. Leeds have always developed their own players so yes they realised a long time ago how to run a modern club. So you aren't even close if you think Norwich are the only Championship club doing things the correct way.
@@Dylann6420 Leeds have been using data to its fullest extent ever since Bielsa arrived did you not see his analysis of Derby after spy-gate? Leeds like every other club have to conform with PSR and having relegation from the Premier League Leeds had no option but to sell players so that they could comply to those rules. You can't simply go out and spend the money you received. Because of the extensive world wide scouting network Leeds have in place they were able to get Tanaka for £2.95 million, Ramazani for £10 million, Schmidt for £2.5 million. So we replaced one player with three and had a fair chunk of change left over.
@@Dylann6420 And that's what Leeds have been doing. They have completely overhauled recruitment, which used to be a one-man band called Victor Orta, and is now a quality professional team that's already paying dividends on both sides of the ledger. The club is in a much better position financially after last summer's transfer window. They have also invested in data analytics and overhauled their medical and fitness teams. Leeds are a very different club today than when Radrizzani took over, and aside from the desperate need for a modern 50k+ seater stadium, for which plans are already being drawn up to start building next year, they are very well placed to make their second return to the Premier League last longer than the previous one.
