Long story short, there are the Voidsent and Lightsent. Basically Darkness and Light. Both are opposite of each but equal. In the world of the 1st, monsters are overwhelmed by Lightsent creatures who were formally people. That melting face was the transformation from people to the Lightsent. Where all these Light comes from is part of the story to be revealed. And also shed some light into metaphysics of FF14 regarding Umbral and Astral states.
You ever gonna try and get some of the Garo gear from PvP? (Been doing it and it's soul draining) Just gotta finish the white Knight and start on the gold knight though!
