yes. i consider "furry bait" to be something you would call those crappy mobile gacha games we see all the time. or those clones of certain big budget movies that occasionally come out. or the one furry character in an otherwise non-furry work.
Wow that's wild! I have to assume further development with a team would go a long way, although idk maybe kiseff feels that's not nessessary. And yeah Tuul is my favorite area too!
If I had a nickel for every time a solo furry dev put out an absolute banger retro style co-op centric game, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
games like Atlyss and Ultrakill really have been making "early access" a good name. Both Hakita and Kiseff focused on having a complete core first before finishing the whole content of the game. The core of the game throughout says the same thing and iterates on itself without becoming a completely different game. But really, Kiseff really went all out on character design. The suggestiveness is filling a joke space and... well catering to that crowd at the same time. Ignoring the jiggle physics in THOSE areas, the physics on ears and such are just adorable.
he's using his prior talents to enhance his later projects. Learning one thing enhances your next project! So if you start makin things you'll find you can make anything after a bit lol
There is a very distinct difference between "furry bait" and "furry art" which depends on intention. If it's a corporation trying to make designs to appeal to furries, then it's bait, but if it's designs made by furries, then it's not bait.
was a really fast buy for me. I'm not a furry myself, but I do like the cute and jiggly characters and how this game is so over the top in attitude. but beyond all of that, I actually LOVE the combat. Dex Bow being my first taste which only really picks up at level 5-7 when you get a non-trash bow and get a random bow skill from a chest drop(or level 10 if you can't and only get class skills). another seriously fun weapon I can't wait to try with a dedicated build is the Bell, like holy crap who thought to give the wizard a warhammer? it reminded me of Kingdoms of Amalur with the Chakram, a unique weapon out of left field that you just fall in love with the moment you learn about it because it's just fucking fun. it needs local co-op and controller support for obvious reasons, and a bit more in the way of minimap for the overworld, but it's just fun. I know I need to finish my own game and can't keep getting distracted, but why people have to release good games now of all times?
So with the bell, a friend of mine found it's possible to use block to cancel the recovery then through some combination of jumps and dashes fire off a second shot that lands in the exact same spot as the first one while it is exploding. It's a pretty crazy input to pull off with some dumb timing but it CAN be done.
@@GELTONZ block animation cancel sounds like an insane power, it's strong enough without animation cancelling for me, would be really fun to see just how absurd people with real skill can get it.
Bell also has some pretty cool movement tech, if you dash and press attack in quick sucession you get a huge boost of movement while still attacking. Makes Bell one of the more mobile weapons in the game
"Who thought to give a priest a warhammer?" I don't know when it first happened, but that has been a cleric stereotype since I've been aware of it: Either bells, maces, mace-staves or war hammers, or bells being used as maces and warhammers, they've been picked in favour of weaponized books and keys, or cross-hilted swords (which are more a paladin or inquisitor thing)
@cdgonepotatoes4219 you understand it is said in the context of an ARPG and not a classical TTRPG or a book? I don't remember the last bell weapon I've seen in a video game... and never as an archetype. Also, Mystic is not a Priest. They carry different thematic contexts, but I can see the reasoning behind the comparison.

There's no game better than one like this, that takes its inspirations and streamlines the tedium to something blisteringly fast. Like the world's quickest needle jab.
Peak game from a peak dev, and it just got an update today, too! I can't wait to see where Kiseff takes the game from here. It really makes me feel like I'm back in the old days, playing with my buddies and having a blast.
This game is so fun! I’ve been playing it for a couple of days, and I’m really enjoying it. Tho, I hope when the game gets more and more in development, it’ll give off that actual MMO RPG thing we’re your just in a massive lobby with tons of players from all over, and not just a small server with just a few people. I’ve only been playing this game by myself, but I’d like to play with more people.
I actually would prefer if the game didn't go "massively multiplayer". Maybe just have the world hub and safe zones be server-based and divided in instances that can't hold more than 36/48, while field zones are P2P with a limited lobby size able to host a maximum of two full parties. The good thing about P2P is the dev doesn't need to maintain a server structure and if the number of developers on Atlyss remain a bistable variable, not even single digits, that would be for the best. A server-hosting toolkit could be developed and given away with the game, but again it would be better if there was another guy able to dedicate himself entirely on network-related stuff instead of stealing away development time from the game itself.
It's quite LITERALLY like Goddess Of Victory Nikke. Yes it has sexy characters (don't understand WHY people just seem to hate sexy characters nowadays, part of the reason i miss the days where we could look at sexy characters and not be all "oh my god she's over sexualized, jeez your such a perv") but man the back stories and story are so good and sad. Atlyss has sexy characters (again NOTHING wrong with that. I'm glad Kiseff has the balls to add sexy aspects and slapping Angela's butt) but the gameplay is fun and hanging out with friends and randoms is great!
all "suggestiveness" is entirely optional, too !! you can turn off suggestive jiggle physics, and you can limit body proportion sizes (including for other ppl's characters) !!
A lot of "Furry bait" games aren't very good. Atlyss is actually one that is. I honestly play the game for the actual gameplay, its mid to high difficulty and the fact that it allows player skill expression, not for the suggestive Furry themes. Also, I love the whole early 2000's/Nintendo 64-esc graphic style.
I get why people are saying the game is furry, its made by a furry artist after all. But its a game with furry THEMES. Other than big asses and titties, this game has nothing to do with furries. Its just a game with anthro characters, same as Kingdom hearts, same as Ori and the blind forest, same as world of warcraft. Its not like theres an enemy that runs around and asks you to yiff them and shit, Cheng Superiority btw!
while i appreciate your sentiment, furry does not necessitate sexy animal characters yiffing, lol. This is definitely a furry game. anthropomorphic animals are furry by definition

Since the game is made by a furry artist
This was a game made by a furry for furries. Its kinda hard to be bait when they're like Kiseff's main audience.
Its actually, at this time, one dev doing all of this. For a beta this is insanely good. My favorite theme has def got to be tuul valley.
