When people try to say that Korra never matures or changes, I just...don't...get it. We've never seen her try to look for a diplomatic solution like this. Obviously, she wants Kuvira and her army out of Zaofu, but is trying to maintain a sense of harmony by proposing a more peaceful resolution than just going in guns blazing.
@@francocinquegranigatti9576Yes. All she knows is she saved her father when Zaheer tossed him off a cliff, was stabilizing the Earth Kingdom while she was gone, and is now taking over. She doesn't know any details, so she has to assess the situation and understand what she's dealing with.
I think Korra was also negotiating based on her prior and limited experience with Kuvira. Remember, as far as Korra really knows, this is the woman who fought the Red Lotus with her *AND* saved her dad. Props to her for at least trying to avoid a fight, knowing her weakened state while she is in the process of recovering still and how she's matured. Obviously its a bad plan but she wasn't really playing with a full deck of info.
I feel like it makes sense Korra would have a sense of compassion and understanding with Kuvira when she mentions to Korra that she “had to make some tough decisions” in order to help stop the chaos that was ensuing. Korra had to deal with criticism regarding her decision to leave the Spirit Portals open. The president of Republic City kicked her out of the city because he was annoyed with Korra’s decisions, even though she thought she was trying to make a positive change in the world. She thought maybe Kuvira was in a similar boat. She just realized in the last episode that one of her problems is that she has been disconnected from the world and from people who love her. She hasn’t seen or had the realization how Kuvira is also out of balance and taking her ideologies too far, like past enemies.
Kuvira doesn't have voodoo, but she has to be good at manipulating people and getting them to go along with her, or else she wouldn't get very far as a conquering tyrant. Sure, she's used fear and desperation to get people like the governor of Yai (from the beginning of the season) to submit to her rule, but it seems like she can be charismatic when she wants to.
God, Varrick is just such a great character, I love that he's a rich dude who's not just a genius because he has everyone doing the work for him, he's actually, genuinely smart.
Korra was right about always resorting to fighting a first response going bad. Literally her very first fight scene ever showed this. The journey is learning when fighting is necessary
Just a theory: Way back in season 2, when Bolin met Varrick, he told Varrick he "wasn't floating in the air" and Varrick loved that because no one has ever been a straight shooter with him. This episode, when Bolin was trying to get Varricks attention, Varrick said "oh no! The head voices are back!!" Because Varrick respects Bolin so much as being a "straight shooter" for him, Varrick has manifested Bolins voice as his conscience!! Which is super cute 😊
Now that we are here AND you guys are reacting to the live-action, I wanted to point out, if someone hasn't already, that the actor who plays Fire Lord Ozai in the live-action also voices Hiroshi Sato, aka Asami's dad, in Korra.
4:38 One could say the prison food has either agreed or disagreed with Hiroshi. 😅 3:28, 6:38, 8:01 Just leaving these here in case @oban6051 still wants to say that Kuvira "did nothing wrong". 🙄
Kuvira may be wrong but damn do I dislike Su's attitude. She constantly preached about how much the Earth Kingdom needed to move into the future but when a chance presented to actually help she turned it down. Then she got pissy when Kuvira did something to help. Like, what did Su expect to happen? That if she did nothing then the Earth Kingdom would become stable and peaceful on its own? It's perfectly fine for Su not to feel responsible for the Kingdom. But then she can't get upset and act all concerned about the nation afterwards. God even when she is right she infuriates me because she is so hypocritical. She even fell into Kuvira's trap. Making herself seem like a backstabber when Kuvira said she would be peaceful when Korra came.
You should understand why korrra wanted to fight and talk since you have seen what you had been through maybe you understand when you see the next episode from her fight with kuvria
Timeout. People bitched and complained about Korra being a hothead and not thinking, going in guns ablazing, and then she actually starts thinking and tries to be diplomatic, PEOPLE STILL COMPLAIN!!!!!! Also that last fight wasn't just some fight, she was poisoned, almost freaking killed, and was in physical and mental recovery for 3 YEARS!!!!!! This show also shows how fake people overall are about mental health because you have a character and show depicting it, but people are it's not a big deal.
Her problem was WHEN to pick a fight. Korra didn’t never accepted a council. Really just her friends who supported her decisions. But she never truly seemed guidance from her elders. She was always guns first. And now when she needs to be guns first she is hesitant and fearful. For good reasons. But she has always had poor judgment and decisions.
Another major difference between her and Aang, was her story was shown to her more. She faced more problems. Aang faced maybe two? Killing the Fire Lord and bringing balance in a already thrown off world. Korra needed to police people and keep balance. Her job was definitely harder. It wasn’t like Aangs his mission was clear. Hers was very situational.
With the scene with Kuvira threatening Varrick, does that suggest a reason the earth empire uniforms have metal on the shoulder pads is that it makes it easier for Kuvira to choke them?
No. Kubota has no voodoo. Korra is just STILL heavily traumatized by her near death and is now second guessing her gut feelings. Instead of growing and learning, she's simply ignoring who she is. She has zero confidence and it's not allowing her to utilize her full potential. Although without the past lives, that potential isn't really all that impressive. Now imagine for just one second that all her past lives were still present, even after she was almost killed by Zaheer. THEY would have helped Korra not only remove the metal poison, but move past her trauma. And with all her past lives, the Avatar State wouldn't be a bad joke. People like Kuvira wouldn't DARE her to use it like she does here. Kuvira knows that Even "Avatar" Korra is still JUST Korra; and Kuvira is a better Bender/fighter than Korra and she KNOWS it.
@@pistazieneis415 First: don't ever call me "boy." Who the hell do you think you're talking to?? Second No shit!! It boosts their power, but WITHOUT the past lives, It's JUST Korra. Aang wasn't JUST Aang. He was also Roku; and Kyoshi; and Kuruk; and Yangchen; and EVERY other avatar that came before him. In any situation where Aaang could fail the others would step in and help. That's how that works. You DO know that right?? Ozai wasn't JUST fighting "some little boy." Once the avatar State kicked in He had to fight EVERY other avatar that came before Aang as well. THAT is why the avatar's voice sounds like a chorus of MANY voices. Or was that over your head??
The parallels between Batar Jr. and Percy Weasley are astonishing really. Batar is pompous arrogant and self entitled, just like Percy. His sense of self worth is only overshadowed by his egotistical ignorance. He's so completely convinced that he's doing the right thing that even when he acts counter to what's right, it's still - on his mind - the right thing. Just like how Percy was so Pro Establishment, that he believed every little bit of propaganda that the Ministry spat out. And all because he himself was having his ego stroked by being given assignments by the Minister himself. That's why Batar is like that. Clearly, Su hasn't put him in his place enough times as a child. lol. He's overcompensating because he's the only non-bender child now that opal became an Airbender a few years ago. So now he NEEDS to feel special. Being seen uniting the Earth Kingdom is the exact ego stroking he craves.
There used to be an old animation technique called rotoscoping where animators would trace over filmed footage. Maybe they uses something similar where CGI is gets textured in an animation style?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again my biggest frustration with the avatar world is how hesitant the avatars are at taking people out who need to be taken out let’s not forget that Roku hesitating to take out Sozin caused the 100 year war, Ang was naturally hesitant to take out anybody because of his pacifist Airbender ways and Korra despite her hotheadedness was more interested in beating people up than taking people out
Personally, when Hiroshi said "I just want to say one thing and I'll never intact you again.", I'd be walking out even as he started speaking. I wouldn't care in the slightest WHAT he had to say. I'm not there for that. The fact that his letters aren't opened should give him some hint. I'd say my piece and walk out while he's in mid sentence.
But that's the problem, that's your personal feelings. The difference between you and Asami is that she actually does want her dad back in her life. It doesn't matter what you would've done because you're not Asami and you don't want what she wants or think like she does.

No. I say sit there and stew in your feelings. You deserve it.
Thinking back on it now, I actually HAVE done that. I was having a disagreement with my mom and said my piece and when she tried to explain I just walked away. Staying to listen would only help her piece of mind and that wasn't my responsibility. So I didn't care.
