The people offering "suggestions" have written some of the goofiest comments I've ever seen on a car repair video. This guy clearly knows what hes doing! Thanks for sharing your work and taking the time to film and upload everything 👍
Thank you 😊
Prob one of the best if not the best DIY projects I've seen!
Thank you!
Nice job Mike, clear and concise. I can’t believe some of the comments. I appreciate the time you took to put this together!!!
Thank you so much! This means a lot to me.
Just a tip to anyone else watching this video, make sure you properly clean/sand down the hub. Any corrosion or buildup in that area will cause an uneven surface between hub and rotor causing premature runout. Great video though!
He cleaned it in the video. I didnt realize how lame porsche owners are until I saw the comments. You never see honda or toyota owners trying to incorrectly correct everyone.
Relax my man, breathe. It’s a great video! I personally would have taken a wire cup brush to the hub and completely removed all surface rust/corrosion, that’s all! Save your unnecessary life lessons. Have a great day bud!
Your production quality is top, among the best I have seen when it comes to DIY videos. Nice work!
Thank very much!
Thank you so much for sharing. Lots of love and respect from here in Iran 🇮🇷
Thank you for watching!
Excellent! I'll be adding this to my "Porsche Tech Tips" playlist 👍
This is by far one of the best Brembo brake disc/pad replacement!! Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you for watching!
This was pretty awesome!!! Great job all around. Thanks for sharing.
357 Mag Guy 2015 Thank you for watching )
best video on replacing Cayenne brakes I've seen yet,,,thanks
Thank you!
Great video. Will be doing my pads soon. I've Done 928S4 brembos many times. Cayennes look even easier to do.
Carl Hender Thank you!
Great video! ! Thanks for posting!!
Thank you for watching :)
Great video, steps are clear.
Thank you for this video
Thank you for watching!
detailed video with high quality
+Jon Xenos thank you!
Very neat and detailed video. Great production and Technical quality . Thank you for sharing it.
Ashish Kohli Thanks for the nice feedback )
No one mentioned disengagement of the self-leveling switch for the suspension🧐
Appreciate the calm music as I am beating the crap outta the center bolt that holds the pads in. PB Blaster, proper sized drift, and a 3 lb hand sledge can't budge it
Sorry to hear that. Try to spray it with WD40 and leave it for couple hours. This is should help.
You make it nice and easy to do it yourself thanks
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the detailed look at doing this myself, I have these calipers on my 2001 Audi TT race car.
Then you for watching!
I really want to thank you for the awesome video you have provided. I just purchased new 350mm rotors with pads, sensors, and hardware for the front and 330mm for the rears with all of the above including the drum pads. I was going to take it to a shop to install, but after seen how easy it is with this video, I can't wait to do it myself. Thank you again. I wish you had done the rear too for a complete F & R instructions.
Thank you for watching! I hope everything goes smoothly with your project!
thank for your video is helpful and save money i learn how to do it myself on my 06 porsche cayenne just bought.
Thank you for watching! 😉
Terrific job! This guy saved himself 4k by doing this 👍
Thank you! The parts cost me around $450
@@mikes.garage my q7 uses the same rotors and pads I did my front pads for $160 dealer wanted $800 😄😄
@@BlackMamba08 $160 this is the cheapest rotors with brake pads. I noticed they can squeal after wet wether, but works great!
Very good job!
Thank you for watching 🙂
Im looking 18z pads installation, its here… thanks bro
Thank you for watching!
best video so far
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Thank you for this I’m in the process on doing mines today. This video really makes it so much better. You rock brother
+Pastor Daniel Simmons Thank you for watching! Have fun with it ) Apply a lot of WD40 on pin, it will make your job easy.
Mike's Garage thanks again sir
Thanks BUD
inside the barrel sweet!
Nice video
Thank you for watching!
Very helpful and well done!
Thank you!
What a fantastic video with great camera work. Thanks! I did have one question, did you open the brake fluid reservoir when you depressed the caliper pistons?
+bldrroddy No, you don't need to open reservoir as it has breather chanal on the cap. Thank you for watching )
Thank you
Thank you for watching 😉
Bravo merci.
Perfect
Nice!
👍🏻
Don’t forget to clean the rotor with brake cleaner because most manufacturers put an oil film on them to prevent rust
Hello please show me one video with the water pomp for Porsche Cayenne S i want to change the water pomp i want same opinion thank you
You do know the fasteners are all metric, not imperial, yes? I really like that ratcheting breaker bar.
Yes, it all metrics.
Cool
Great production quality! A couple suggestions: Metric sockets, not SAE. And all of these fasteners have torque specs, please find them and use them. If you don't have a torque wrench, most chain part stores will loan one out for free.
Thank you for suggestions!
You dorks and your torque specs😂
@@pyramidion5911 All the cool kids have loose caliper bolts
my brake pads are good and just need to replace the rotors. can I replace the rotors without removing the brake pads? IS the possible to remove the caliper without removing the brake pads?
Great dyi! for anyone doing this at home I would invest in a torque wrench for the caliper bolts. Those are most important to set to the correct spec. Not worth guessing on.
Thank you! I have torque wrench already.
A brake job isnt worth breaking out the torque wrench
Great Video! Is it the same process with the 2013 Cayenne Base? Thanks!
Thank you! It is almost the same process for your Porsche.
Not a bad job for a typical backyard mechanic. Covers the basics. Want to make that brake job a back yard job or a Porsche Dealer Quality job for only pennies more? Clean (wire brush or light sand paper) all of your used parts first including the pin holes and threads on bolts and threaded caliper. Used a huge amount of brake flush on ALL parts new and old except brake sensors. spray all parts with compressed air to get to the caked on dirt stuck in cracks and crevices. Prying the pads back is a waste of time, crack the bleeder much easier to push the pads back and then after you are done with all the brakes flush out the brake fluid for even better braking. This is a Porsche! Torque Wrench!!!! Torque all of the brake parts and the rims when putting back together!!!! Prevents down the road issues damage likes warping rotors, imroper metal clearence and failure... etc... Again, good basics, just add and few easy steps!!!
Thank you for your review! This is my old video, I use torque ranch a long time already but not always show this in my videos. I usually use brake cleaner to clean all the parts. I didn't show it on this video but I had cleaned all the parts with brake cleaner. Also this videos for people who want to fix his car by himself, if they will bleed the brakes it can couse air in the system and more problem for regular person. That is why this vide is basic.
Money saved
This is a great video. I have the same model as well. It's 330mm rotors in the rear correct? Also, I noticed you applied something to the rotor torx bolt, was that locktite?
Never mind, I just realized it was brake lubricant.
Thank you! I don't remember what size of rotors was at the back, probably 330mm. I applied some brake grease on torx bolt for holding brake rotor.
my brake pads are good and I just need to replace the rotors. Do I need to remove the brake pads? Or can I leave them on the caliper and remove the entire caliper to remove the rotor?
Srivalli Telikepalli you can take caliper with brake pads together. Just depress them before removing.
Good to know you reuse your brake hardware kit. I was about to purchase buy all new again but at $60 for oem if it’s good for reuse then why not.
I think this is depends on how bad is your hardware, sometimes it better just to replace it.
@@mikes.garage I was just saying it because yours was a bit rusted but still looked functionally good to use again. Mine would be used only once as well when I go to replace this week. I see people throw out perfectly good ones and replace with new on videos, I know it’s what the car manufacturers recommend but it’s sometimes not necessary expenses. Brakes are not to be played with though I agree.
so you use a new brakes sensor or old? thanks !
I used new sensor as old one started to worn out.
do new pads come with a new sensor? or do i need to get that separate?
+QMan1234red you need to get that separate, the price is around $10
Great job man , quick question how many wear sensors does this car have all around. Is it two or four? & what’s the difference on the V8B & the V8D
Thank you! There is 4 wear sensors one for each wheel. I don't know the difference between those two engine, sorry.
appreciate it sir, I think ones a base v8 and the other is the gts but I’m not 100% sure thanks regardless!
@@Spicyricek20A I know this Porsche has:
3.2L V6 M02.2Y
4.5L V8 "S" M48.00
4.5L V8 Turbo M48.50
4.5L V8 Turbo "S" M48.50
This is what I know.
Mike's Garage great to know will remember that, thanks again. Huge help.
Can I ask what size extension was used to tap out the push pin?
That is 1/4" extension
Good Vid Mike but how the hell do you get stubborn pins out?? Ive been trying for 2hrs and they won’t budge 😡😡. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated👍🏻
stuart silverlock Try to spray it with WD40 before you start to remove it. Also you can buy new pins if yours are in a bad shape. Everything else you can see in the video.
Thanks dude. You really assisted me with your video. The only things I would have to add:
1. Purchase a Metric Impact Socket Set (cheap 1/2 inch drive 10mm-24mm set costs around $35.00)
2. Spray a little di-electric oil/grease into the brake sensor connection.
3. Check for any slow leak origins (windshield fluid, engine oil, tranny fluid 😳, brake fluid, power steering fluid).
4. Average Torque specs.
5. Inspect ball-joints, and consider wheel bearing replacement.
6. Check tyre sidewalls (both sides), tread-wear (camber/caster), tread depth, tyre pressure.
Thanks again!
Thank you for watching!
Did this clown really recommend to look for washer fluid leaking 🤦♂️
Do you have to replace the Brake Sensors??? Is it a must replace for functionality or just to cut the light off? I have a 2006 S model and it’s basically an off-road vehicle?
This sensor in order to know when the pads are worn out and remove the light on the control panel. If you do not care then you can not change it, everything should work in any case. Also you can just cut the wires from old sensor and connect them together, in this case the light will go away.
Mike's Garage hey fantastic tip and I have 16” wheels on my cayenne S with BFGoodrich ATs on it so I will definitely do this as far as cut the wires and just run the new pads and rotors. Love the cayenne for the off road capabilities and love the looks I get when I mud the Porsche at the pit! 😂
Have fun 😁
Open master cylinder cap before the job?
Ray Wong You can if you want but this is not necessarily.
Mike's Garage good to know. Since I'm doing this tomorrow. Want to make sure if I need to open the cap. Thanks again
Good luck with it ;)
So the wires on the pads, are those new wires/sensor? And how do they look being attached and detached
Yes, this is new new brake pads sensors at the end of the video.
Mike's Garage Do they come with the pads? I’ll be getting a stick shift Cayenne GTS here in a few days or so and have been looking at videos on how to repair them so I don’t spend $300 on labor at some mechanic shop.
@@unique-daann6098 No, you need to buy them separately.
Mike's Garage thank you I found a whole kit with rotors, pads and the wires.
Is this the same for an 05 cayenne?
Giancarlo Mendoza Yes, should be the same )
What was the mileage for this brakes/car?
Oleg K it was 196000km, but I'm not sure if it was first time )
It seems like that
Seems like there may be a better way to move the caliper other than bending the brake lines.
Oh really.. does it seem that way
Absolutely, Try removing the clips that secure the brake hoses. Will allow more than enough flex in the rubber line.@@pyramidion5911
nice and clear. but what are torque values for every of screws?
Sorry, I don't have the torque values any more for the Porsche, as I sold it with the repair manual. And yes I should include it in a video.
This one is quite rusty like everything is it too old?
This is 2004.
What year is this?
2006
Funny you use a 1/2 in socket when everything on a porsche is metric. lol
You didn't use OEM Parts. TRW Pads and Zimmermann Rotors are aftermarket.
This is what Porsche installed at factory. Maybe brake pads was Brembo.
@@mikes.garage Porsche never installed "Zimmermann" Rotors at factory! They came with Bosch, Brembo or ATE!
However you want 😉
tight bolt with breaker bar? are u serious ?
and what would you use for such work?
Mike's Garage torque wrench baby and torque spec is about 200lbft or 270Nm.
270Nm this is medium size torque wrench not a baby. I used good size breaker bar to do the job and after I did check it with torque wrench and it was almost tightened enough.
Imperial sockets??? No
Unfortunately I that moment I don't have metric socket.
I don’t even own a porchse and im like wtf
maybe t15 torx
shiozuka osamu nop, torx 50
@@mikes.garage I used t45 torx. Mine is 330mm as I have the V6 so slightly smaller brakes
Nice Video. When you compare the discs ruclips.net/video/MLnGqc1JNr0/видео.htmlm13s it looks like you have life left in your disk. At the pace that those things have the reputation to eat thru, why not let it eat thru?
+myvideosrockthehouse Thank you! Just brake pads need to be replaced before the snow and I replaced the discs the same time.
You forgot to remove the grease on the break rotors....
This is coated brake discs, they doesn't greased 😉
Great video. Thank you. Next time don’t use that annoying music.
John Beck Thank you for watching! No music at all?
Yea the music made me mute the video. Great informative video.
bad music
Please tell me artist names these 3 songs = good stuff ! great video of your skills
Music is listed in my description 🙂 thank you for watching!
Good video, but the music made my ears bleed.
Thank you anyways ;)
When you are due for brakes and no warranty on that! Sell it and get rid of it. The price to keep it going will end up being more that what is worth!
Fucking music. Why?
No music in new videos 😉
