All the nuance is lost..blood effects, shattered glass, reflections, shooting zombies in parking lot...it's a hack job..not to mention how washed out and brown everything is
Completely ignoring the original Dead Rising, the voice work in the Remake is just terrible, capcom consistently has been doing a terrible job with voice actors since Resident Evil 2 Remake. They keep hiring people with zero talent, the voices don't fit the character and the lines they say are so bad. (Yes i know the script for Dead Rising is barely touched.)
You must not have actually played the game. Most of the psychos VA was better than the original game. Franks voice is very easy to get used to. The only character VA I didn't like at all was Brad. The fact that Otis and ALL of the survivors are voiced now adds a whole new element to the game.
@@CadgerChristmasLightShow the fact that the survivors and stuff are all voiced is a welcomed addition. But the new voices are all terrible from what I've heard. I have zero interest in playing the remake at all. There's not enough to justify me buying it and playing it.
@Lonely_Soldier I haven't paid full price for a newly released game in many, many years. This game was the first time I've done that since probably DR4. But, I will happily vote with my wallet for any new deadrising game or remaster/remake. I do not regret my purchase whatsoever, and you should at least pick it up on sale if you're a big fan.
@CadgerChristmasLightShow I personally saw the trailers for the remake and shrugged and didn't really care much. I don't get very excited by remakes in general since they always mess it up somehow. Granted I will say that the Dead Rising Remake didn't change enough in a bad way but it just doesn't wow me too much. I'll probably pick it up when it's really cheap but that's extremely low priority for me. In general I think the Capcom remakes have been very mixed results and extremely overrated products.
There is so much to criticize, from the fact that they didn't even go through and look at the models that they put in the game to make sure different objects aren't just levitating even though they're part of the same singular still model, tell the fact that they use AI to replicate the art from the original and didn't even have the quality control to go back into it and edit the words so that they're actually spelled correctly or legible, to the game play being made worse with plenty of the bosses attacks just not landing, the s on the dodge far extending into you standing for like the first second and a half, enemies having very passive ai and not having collisions so you can literally just walk through crowds of them well they don't even turn to look at you, with a list that goes farther than I've stated here on problems. Legitimately, it's like they took the original game and did the least amount of effort possible to release this. No one did any quality checks before they shipped it. It feels like they just tweaked a lot of things in the code to try to make the game piss easy and no one actually attempted to play test it. What's the point of higher resolution graphics when all it does is make it very clear for me to see that they can't even spell basic words, the textures they put on a lot of the things in the environment are significantly blurry because they were made with cheap AI generation of the original images, and the basic models and whatnot were not even completed for half of the things in the game that looks like they were also generated with AI. This isn't what a significant amount of quality looks like. This game is supposed to be a remake where 90% of the actual creative work is done for you, it's just a matter of doing the same physical work that the original team did as everything wasn't nah decided and final state. Frankly, this should be a significantly easy task because you're just making something that already exists. It's the tracing of making a video game. And somehow they managed to mess it up by not even putting the minimum effort to make sure things were at a decent quality. It's a game with less impressive Gore and physics then the original, less impressive ai and enemy density, less impressive looks because well it's at a higher resolution significant amounts of the game literally do not have any detail where are blatantly done in a rather incompetent fashion, the audio is poorly balanced especially on the dialogue, most of the fights are actually broken and no longer engaging to play. None of this has to do with preferring the old over the new and what I've brang up in this. That's a different topic that has a whole different amount of merits to argue in favor of and against. This is just looking at this in comparison to the original especially when we're talking about things such as visuals that are supposed to be the same but the remake has specifically much lower quality. It looks like they took the old stuff threw it in an AI generator and just put that in the game without checking that it even did it correctly. Where are the original did a lot of things trying to push the boundaries of what was possible with the more limited tech, the new doesn't even strive to hit the same level of quality as that original with no real good reason why it would choose to become an under detailed and less impressive version of the same thing that looks better in just some screenshots. Aside from the fact that that's the easiest thing to do if you want to just do a quick cheap cash grab. This game is the same thing as the original, but undercooked, unpolished, and genuinely not even attempting to hit the same level of quality of the original had. They don't care if the enemies and bosses are just as functional as the original, they don't care if the old graphics and models are just as detailed as the original, they don't care if the audio is balanced correctly to be clear or if the lines are even delivered correctly. This might be one of the most haphazardly lazy remakes of a game I have ever seen in my life. Most people when they remake a game at least try to hit the same level of quality that the original had, and not take a step down from that because they're too lazy to do anything besides try to release this real quick for some easy money.
And i hope this sells well and we can get a remaster of DR2 and then at the VERY least a port of DR3 for Playstation. DR3 was way better than alot of people gave it credit for, and was one of the last to really have that Dead Rising DNA in it. DR4, while I played that one all the way through, just didn't feel like the Dead Rising I knew and loved.
No censorship is unacceptable. Especially removing anti-communist sentiment. Play the OG. Don't reward Crapcom for doing a shit job (outsourcing to a chinese company. Maybe thats why the line was removed and the race swap?).
Does the censorship drastically impact the game? After recently playing the original and 100% completing DRDR I can confidently say it doesn't impact the game. I'd like to hear why you think the cut content from the original other than the voice actors is so important?
this is a great video! my dad and i are fans of dead rising, as he especially played the game during the time i was literally 8 months old and he definitely was impressed by how amazing the graphics look. even though im not 100% a fan of how frank and some of the others look, the game still looks great! i do notice people dont like the small things that were changed/censored (especially the erotica to funny change) and i have to agree with some people here that it isnt worth nitpicking about because it's not a big deal to the entire game. im perfectly okay with the small changes, we still have the same game but made better! as much as i thought the og Kent scene was a decent way to portray how much of a bad guy he is, i dont mind the change because at the end of the day, he's still a psychopath regardless. we still got our same Kent whether he shows his "most sexy photo" or not. the same argument can be said for the characters that had gotten different voice actors, we still got our Frank West, besides the new voice for him aint so bad! :-) i havent gotten a chance to play DRDR sadly, but im super happy to see that there are good things about it! the og DR still has my whole heart, but i absolutely love what i am seeing from DRDR and i cant wait to play it! :-D
Thank you for sharing your memories and experience with the original Dead Rising, it's always great to hear stories like this. I agree with you too, there are plenty of people who are nit picking the game over a couple of censored scenes. If the removal of the censored scenes drastically impacted the game I would be able to understand, but it doesn't and we get the same game which is better in some areas. I hope you get round to playing DRDR at some point because it truly is a tremendous game!
Looks great. I remember having a great time playing the original. How do you feel about the zombie aggression? I see more and more players complaining about the aggressiveness being tamed, and now you can walk through locations with more ease.
After recently completing the original in anticipation for the remaster, I feel like I have a good perspective between both. The zombies in the original offer a challenge especially when escorting survivors. The zombie aggression in the remaster is very tame. As I mention in the video I was able to save all survivors in my first playthrough because I found the zombie aggression low and the survivor intelligence improved. Overall this didn’t ruin my experience with the remaster and instead I found it much more enjoyable than the original. Thank you for watching!
Eh. I’ve run afoul of the zombies many times and have lost a few survivors to hordes, particularly on day 2 when the number of zombies has increased. Sometimes the aggression isn’t there, and then all of a sudden, it’s like it ramps up.
Overall the cencorSHIT is quite petty, with this aside it is a great game. The only criticism from haters is mostly about the erotica camera and g strings. Prove me wrong!
I feel there's is fair criticism to be made about the game being easier in general. Time limits seem more forgiving, zombies are less aggressive, some weapons are far more durable (i.e. chainsaw) and I do feel for dead rising veterans it does feel a bit disappointing. Would have been nice for them to add a Hardcore mode for those who want it. The censorship stuff is somewhat annoying but id say it shouldn't be the main point of criticism
I don't get why we got this and not just an update for the original. I'm not going to play this because of all the cast changes and the physical character changes are just a waste. Their not going to beat the original at its own thing. It's like RE4 remake but way less budget and only enough changes to bother you rather than give a real remake.
Because its 2024 and not 2006. Most people who count could care less about "voice changes", its really time to stop listening to the people that constantly cry about everything. The original game was not a masterpiece nether was the series, but this keeps the enough of the "original feel" while getting rid of alot of the jank and garbage outdated choices that were bad in 2006.
I appreciate your opinion and thank you for taking the time to share. I'd suggest that if you feel like that then maybe you could pick it up on sale. CAPCOM does a lot of good sales especially on Steam and I can see this going super cheap in a few months. DRDR offers an enjoyable experience but as you’ve said I do wish they kept some of the cast from the original.
I understand, man. I felt this way initially with Resident Evil 2 (2019) when I heard more about it leading up to the release after it's announcement years before that. But if you're willing, I highly suggest trying out the Deluxe Remaster dude. Some of the voice changes take some getting used to like Cliff, but I didn't mind it and I love everyone else's voice, especially Jessie. Like the video says, this game is SO faithful to the original, visually beautiful, and it is made easier. Cast changing for voice acting is definitely sad, I wish we were more like Japan with their actors. I just can't believe the first Dead Rising was remade, though! I never thought that would happen. I was so happy to hear.
@@cardman378 being upset about replacing Tj is understandable, I love his performance. Erotica being removed honestly doesn't bother me since ngl I never really bothered taking pictures in the original since the PP reward was pretty abysmal. only really took pictures for Kents quest and if I found a PP sticker
I’m really enjoying this remaster it seriously is good and looks great! Dead rising 2 was my all time favorite so hopefully this does good so DR2 has a shot!
Everyone is complaining about the censorship. Yet it has sold over 1million copies. Glitches are annoying, and Crowbcat is a nitpicker. You can't make everyone happy, and it seems most diehards are still a fan, and play both versions.
Exactly. The censorship does not drastically impact the game. It doesn't make the story, gameplay and the world worse. There are some people who like to jump on the hate train for the sake of being part of those negative conversations. If people provided more context behind why they don't like the censorship I'd be happy to hear their opinion and respect that but there aren't many people who are doing that.
@@BaileyPoints 100%. People who aren't fan of Dead Rising jumped into the remake just to complain about censorship in gaming. Recently, finding out about AI upscaling used sucks, that is my biggest complaint,.
@@SeriousDragonify Crowbcat, has been found in the past, to only highlight the downsides rather than the highlights of games. I do agree there are issues with DRDR, but most voice actors (Brad could be better) did well, I think the facial animations are pretty good, I like some of the changes gameplay wise. He purposely mislead people with his RE4 video. I understand wanting a fair breakdown of the changes and issues, but when someone can't be bias I don't trust them.
@@SeriousDragonify Having 1mil subs doesn't mean what you post is factual or not bias. And god no, Crackdown 3 was terrible lol. I just think it's worth noting that Crowbcat has a slant and favours being negative rather than positive towards new games/remakes
CAPCOM have already mentioned that they wish to hear feedback from the players who have experienced DRDR and if the overall reviews are positive they will consider giving Dead Rising 2 the deluxe remaster treatment.
After crowbcat video this sort of defense for this censored mess is quite laughable, i might play it one day when it's dirt cheap but after seeing what they did, last thing i want was a censored DR2 which is was one of the first games i got for PS3
I’d choose this version over the OG any day. I believed in this game when it got announced. Nothing ever broke my excitement for it. None of the crybabies who hated on this game before it even released, or any of the changes. And the wait paid off as I’m about to be done with my 3rd playthrough and go into play throughnumber 4
Aren't you mad that they used AI to generate the models in the background which is why the detailed written objects that could be read in the original now have fuse together words like a cheap AI tool did it and nobody went in and cleaned it? Or did you not notice the details like that that are just unpolished and unfinished? I could care less about the different creative decisions, because the simple fact that plenty of the things in this game are not done correctly or polished at all because they wanted to use some cheap software to not pay anyone to actually work on this remake, and it shipped in a playable yet low quality state.
I hate dead rising I could never get on with it because of the opressive timer that just ruins the entire game, neve undestood what people liked about it.
It may not help understanding, but I personally liked the pressure it created. I'm all about story and 'atmosphere' - and it added to the story as 'these survivors need help' or 'these things need to be done now' and missing that opportunity had consequences, like in reality. (Time runs out for some things, etc.) I had played Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask before that when I was younger (whose 3 day system influenced Dead Rising, I believe) and felt it definitely adds to the horror/urgency/tension of the game.
@@Solaris_iv Theres so much to do & look at but you just dont have the time to do it,D2 was the same with the Zombrex. @@Carlin2810 I totally understand that! I believe Dead Rising is made for multiple throughways to allow you to level up and to give you freedom to explore. They give you some down time before each mission, but sometimes people opt to not pursue the main storyline at first, and it doesn't stop you from playing - it gives you the freedom to explore for the remaining time (like mentioned in the vid) If you're ever thinking about giving it a shot to see how you feel, I definitely recommend it!

The censorship destroys creativity, you do know how good you had it in the original.
All the nuance is lost..blood effects, shattered glass, reflections, shooting zombies in parking lot...it's a hack job..not to mention how washed out and brown everything is
Everything you mentioned is all there in DRDR. I'm confused by your comment.
The title.. At what point were you/we wrong? For the most part, all you did in this video was describe the original game.
How much of the video did you watch? 😂
Just bought the original version for ten dollars on Steam
Bargain.
Game would be 100% better if you didnt constantly get stun locked everytime you get shot, Ive died so many times from being stun locked
Game is fucking dope!
I play this. It’s an improvement on the original. Sure there are changes (censorship) but the world is a different place to how it was in 2006.
No censorship is unacceptable. Especially removing anti-communist sentiment. Play the OG. Don't reward Crapcom for doing a shit job (outsourcing to a chinese company. Maybe thats why the line was removed and the race swap?).
The “censorship” does nothing to affect the enjoyment of the game. Personal game of the year.
I couldn't of said it better myself.
Does the censorship drastically impact the game? After recently playing the original and 100% completing DRDR I can confidently say it doesn't impact the game. I'd like to hear why you think the cut content from the original other than the voice actors is so important?
Luckily for us the Dead Rising Steam PC version is a perfect port.
I hope dead rising 2 does have the same treatment too in the remastered as re2 did
Fingers crossed! I hope we get to play Chuck Greene too, In my opinion Frank felt out of place in DR2 OTR
Here's hoping!
Nah the voice over on the remake is horrible compared to original 22:23
this is a great video!
my dad and i are fans of dead rising, as he especially played the game during the time i was literally 8 months old and he definitely was impressed by how amazing the graphics look. even though im not 100% a fan of how frank and some of the others look, the game still looks great!
i do notice people dont like the small things that were changed/censored (especially the erotica to funny change) and i have to agree with some people here that it isnt worth nitpicking about because it's not a big deal to the entire game. im perfectly okay with the small changes, we still have the same game but made better! as much as i thought the og Kent scene was a decent way to portray how much of a bad guy he is, i dont mind the change because at the end of the day, he's still a psychopath regardless. we still got our same Kent whether he shows his "most sexy photo" or not. the same argument can be said for the characters that had gotten different voice actors, we still got our Frank West, besides the new voice for him aint so bad! :-)
i havent gotten a chance to play DRDR sadly, but im super happy to see that there are good things about it! the og DR still has my whole heart, but i absolutely love what i am seeing from DRDR and i cant wait to play it!
Sometimes the aggression isn’t there, and then all of a sudden, it’s like it ramps up.
why rockstar doesnt hired capcom team to remastered their bully?
Hopefully after the Max Payne remakes Rockstar Games decide to give Remedy GTA IV for a remaster or remake.
This game is not made for Capcom is outsouce for a chinese develope.
Overall the cencorSHIT is quite petty, with this aside it is a great game. The only criticism from haters is mostly about the erotica camera and g strings. Prove me wrong!
This is 100% facts.
26:18 a zombie glitch on the floor
Great spot!
Weird mindset.
I was so happy to hear.
thank you for explaining what content was cut. very good review that doesn't glaze over the game.
They cut Erotica and TJ from the game. CAPCOM are cooked. 💀
@@FrankWack17He literally hidden my statements like a b.
He's violating free speech.
What a snowflake.
Great video as ever Bailey, the game looks really cool
Glad you enjoyed the video Luke. Thank you for supporting as always!
What’s your accent supposed to be? Sounds scouse
I'm scouse!
I'm really hoping that this game does well enough for Capcom to consider remastering DR2 and DR3 as well.
Capcom said Desd Rising 2 Deluxe Remaster is possible
No
CAPCOM have already mentioned that they wish to hear feedback from the players who have experienced DRDR and if the overall reviews are positive they will consider giving Dead Rising 2 the deluxe remaster treatment.
They changed erotic to funny, no thanks. Not interested in games changed for the "modern audience"
After crowbcat video this sort of defense for this censored mess is quite laughable, i might play it one day when it's dirt cheap but after seeing what they did, last thing i want was a censored DR2 which is was one of the first games i got for PS3
You'll never please gamers
Not in todays world.
You're woke then
Aren't you mad that they used AI to generate the models in the background which is why the detailed written objects that could be read in the original now have fuse together words like a cheap AI tool did it and nobody went in and cleaned it?
(Time runs out for some things, etc.)
I had played Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask before that when I was younger (whose 3 day system influenced Dead Rising, I believe) and felt it definitely adds to the horror/urgency/tension of the game.
@@Solaris_iv Theres so much to do & look at but you just dont have the time to do it,D2 was the same with the Zombrex.
They give you all these shops to explore with loads of stupid things you can use to kill zombies like hitting golf balls at them or a frisby or stupid hats with horns whatever but youre always under the yolk of that opressive timer instead of just being able to mess around in the world.
@@Carlin2810 I totally understand that! I believe Dead Rising is made for multiple throughways to allow you to level up and to give you freedom to explore. They give you some down time before each mission, but sometimes people opt to not pursue the main storyline at first, and it doesn't stop you from playing - it gives you the freedom to explore for the remaining time (like mentioned in the vid)
If you're ever thinking about giving it a shot to see how you feel, I definitely recommend it!
I was really excited when they announced that there was going to be a Dead Rising remaster but I was then hesitant when I saw all the new changes Capcom had made to the game i.e cut content. You've done a really good job at covering every aspect of this game, bravo. I have now decided to pick up the game on Xbox and play it for myself. Thank you good sir. 🫡
I decided to put out my review after I 100% completed the game and experienced everything it had to offer. I'm happy to hear that you've decided to pick up the game after watching my review.
Jas Patrick did a fantastic job capturing Terence J. Rotolo performance 🥺🩵🖤
I'm sure over time fans will come to Love and accept you Jas as this Frank West
Not be so overly hateful and cynical towards you just because some people can't accept someone else new to voice
Frank West they can't see that you clearly tried your best to sound like TJ for them.
