I think Ronaldo should’ve retired from international football after the last World Cup. My opinion was reinforced after he started in the final group stage match against Georgia. There was no reason for a 39 year old CF to play in a glorified friendly match when 8 of the other starters were benched for rest. Especially when a do or die knockout stage is a few days away. When Ronaldo was much younger he already got his chances although there were big name senior players in the team. I think Ronaldo should’ve retired from international football after the last World Cup. My opinion was reinforced after he started in the final group stage match against Georgia. There was no reason for a 39 year old CF to play in a glorified friendly match when 8 of the other starters were benched for rest. Especially when a do or die knockout stage is a few days away. You can’t tell me it wasn’t a selfish display and the main reason was to get on the scoresheet and extend his record of consecutive tournaments with at least one group stage goal.
