Finally got the new release (but NOT new tool ) Revell 1/72 Torndao 2 -pack....and i got 8 issues of the old Airfix magazine from back in the day....February 1976,January 1977,February 1977,September 1977,April 1980,October 1982,April 1983 and May 1984.....all in mint condition and i got them for free.....
Hi Gary, could you please 😊ask the guys from Airfix when are they doing the Bristol Britannia 200/300 and the Vickers Viking, Valetta and Varsity? If not why not?
The 1/48 French Alize carrier aircraft is a much neglected subject and would look great displayed next to the 1/48 Gannett from Airfix as they both had anti submarine rolls.
Was talking to a lad in 1 of the model shops here in Dublin who knows the Airfix team and he told me that they told him they ARE releasing a new tool 1/72 SEAfire with British,French and Irish options on the decal sheet
That would have to be the Seafire F.Mk.III. It is essentially a Spitfire Vc but with the folding wings, hook and accelerator spools. So a new mould for the wings and the 'navalised' bits (all on the one frame) but would they need a completely new mould for the fuselage with the hook attachment points or could they use the existing Mk.Vc ones, I wonder? The French ones were the same as the British ones, the Irish ones were the same but had all the naval stuff taken off. It would be a very interesting plane for them to release, although I can hear the strains of "what, another bloody Spitfire?" already...
@garys_stuff indeed it is the LF Mk 111 variant.....not sure how much of it is truly going to be new tool but some parts would need to be....he also told me that Airfix ARE planning a new release Sepecat Jaguar in 1/72 but he is not sure if its a reissue or a new tool but it is NOT going to be released this year
@garys_stuff im one of those firmily in the "not another bloody spitfire" camp but considering it has been reetooled to make it a Seafire AND it has an Irish option on the decal sheet is the only reason i will buy it.....if of course what he told me is true and i have no reason to disbelieve him.....even if it was a Seafire LF Mk 111 and it didn't have the irish option on the decal sheet i wouldn't buy it
@garys_stuff funny thing about the Irish Seafires is as the were land based and had no need for naval features such as folding wings etc all of those were removed and replaced with Spitfire equivalent parts including the landing gear so they were essentially Spitfires although the arrestor hooks were kept in case of running off the end of the runways
His contacts sound unusually leaky for Airfix! Was this done over a jar of the black stuff I wonder? The Jaguar - well fits the criteria for a Vintage Classics release (50+ year old first release, no release for 20+ years) but I wouldn't think they would do this. Also having something I remember being the hot new-ish trike aircraft becoming Vintage is just a step too far for me. BUT a new tool Jaguar would go down extremely well. It would fit in the cold war range just like the Buccaneer did, can have multiple releases for different versions and schemes, there's a trainer as well and you've got lots of scheme options including wrap-around and Gulf War. I'd love it at both 1/72 and 1/48, again like the mighty Bucc.
Hi Gary. Thanks for MM. Hope Arma does the Hawk H-75 in 1/48 (or Clear Prop adapts theirs). I highly anticipate the psychic wonders of Mystic Mug.👻 Cheers Matt🦘
Some interesting stuff coming out. I am presently building the Airfix F86F and I am very disappointed with it. The proportions of the cockpit are all wrong and the pilot would need 6ft long arms to reach the instrument panel. Airfix copped out by providing a pilot with his hands on his knees. A rather useless pose in my opinion. The detail in the gun bay and air brakes is very soft and minimal, so I have been adding my own. Just on to the wing slats now and the fit of the leading edges is poor leaving a nasty dip in the bottom wing section. I like the aircraft though because my ex boss AM Cliff Spink used to fly an "A" model Sabre. I am not sure if it is still airworthy though.
Yah, Mystic Mug. 🎉😊 when you speak to your Airfix mate can you ask him about the issues are having importing to Australia 🇦🇺. I'm aware it's not just Airfix fault but the whole system in Australia is up the creek.
I asked him about this in Telford and he said they were working on a solution. Diplomatically he couldn’t comment more on camera or on the record. But he did say it needed to be addressed as they ship direct from India to Australia so the bottleneck is either in the ordering or with the distribution once through customs.
@@garys_stuff Thanks for that Gary. I used to work for AusPost and I suspect it's to do with the distribution in Australia. The whole system is completely stuffed here. But I'm glad to hear Airfix are doing they're best at their end.
Great 1/72 scale kits in the New Year, very exciting!
Nice new kits.
I love the box art on the Flitzer with the B-49.
Great hobby news video, Gary! 2025 is looking like a very interesting year for the hobby.
Thanks for the lovely shout out! Best wishes to Gary Mikey and Nik, thanks for an enjoyable game.

Anybody plan on attending the Airfix model show on the 18th ? I think I'll be popping along.
Just a comment for the algorithm and best wishes.
Thanks Gary for the update. It's always interesting to see what's happening in the model world 👍
Keep up the great work Gary…still awaiting you’re Atom paint review, especially now others are doing same type of acrylic paint..
