Very interesting, can see parallels with Buddhism. Is there any book that gives an overview of this topic and/or Hindu philosophy/theology that you could recommend ? Beginner friendly ideally 😉
Thank you! Advaita Vedanta [it is the oldest tradition of Non-duality actually] is a vast philosophy in itself and has tons of scriptures under its umbrella. Buddhism has many similarities with Advaita Vedanta, as you rightly pointed out. In fact these two philosophies flourished side by side in India. For more details and basic understanding of Advaita Vedanta, you can read "Prakarna Granthas" like - Drg Drsya Viveka, Vivekachudamani, Atma-Bodh, Tattva-Bodh, Aparokshanubhuti etc. - they're introductory books of Advaita Vedanta and will strengthen one's foundation and basic understanding. Nevertheless, Advaita Vedanta doesn't appeal to the majority of the people [they find it abstract, dry, non-relatable or difficult] because it's too logically oriented and unfortunately in the real world, very few people have THAT level of refined logic to grasp its deep and subtle wisdom. Infact before actually studying and practicing Advaita Vedanta, traditionally, one must cultivate the 4-fold qualities [atleast to a significant level] as explained in this older video of mine - ruclips.net/video/YsIPZ_PW-iE/видео.html Kindly do go through this as well. These qualities will make it much easier to grasp, understand and actually directly experience the Non-duality and Pure Consciousness that Advaita Vedanta talks about. 😇
