In the American army those helicopter pilots would be Marines on a ship and the army is moved to their new work base by the Air Force and then they would be training in their apache helicopters which would be shipped by C-5 Galaxy to the base where they are training.
Lol The US Navy has helicopters, and helicopter pilots. Marines are part of the Navy. The Army uses whatever it needs to deploy, but deploying by ship is too slow for the Army Quick Reactionary Forces. In most locations where the US might be needed. (Europe, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc.) The Army has depots where tanks, attack helicooters, etc. are prestaged, ready to be drawn. All the Army has to do is send the troops. The Army, as the major ground force of the US Military, has at its disposal all the assets of all the other branches of the US Military, without being totally reliant on any of them. Despite what you think, the Army has it's own large transport aircraft. The 82nd Airborne, Special Forces, and Rangers can deploy anywhere in the world within 48 hrs. They are quite capable of deploying into a combat zone, and carving out an area for follow up forces. Many areas in this world, like Afghanistan, are landlocked. (Meaning they have no oceans on their borders.) The US Army also has light Infantry Divisions. (7th, 25th, and 2nd IDs) There are also a couple Independent Airborne brigades. Also, like the 101st Air assault, any US Army Infantry Division, mechanized or not, is quite capable of deploying without its heavy armor equipment, or helicopters. Those can always be brought up later.
@@unitedwestand5100 While in the Air Force we shipped both Army and Marine Corps personnel and their equipment, but primarily the Marines since we worked with them primarily in California and Nevada. We had the C-141's at the base I was stationed at and we worked at Marine Corps and Navy bases.
@@semco72057 ,. Good for you, but it doesnt change a word I said, or make it untrue. My father served in the US Army Air Corps at the end of WWII, and served with them as they changed their name to the US AF. He was with them in Korea. I've personally rode on many Cargo planes marked US Army, but had AF pilots. Have you ever done combat landings and takeoffs on short runways in a C130? I have. With Armor lashed on board. Fort Bragg maintains two airfields: Pope Field, where the United States Air Force stations global airlift and special operations assets as well as the Air Force Combat Control School, and Simmons Army Airfield, where Army aviation units support the needs of airborne and special operations forces on post.
@@semco72057 ,. Like the Space Force branched off the Air Force, so did the Air Force branch off the Army. The US Army us the Major Combat Land Force of the US Military. The Marines are a small land warfare unit of the Navy. They also man guns on Naval vessels, and perform boarding oarty operations and counter operations on Naval Ships. Marine Officers are Naval officers who have attended a 16 week Marine combat officer course. Army officers are West Point Graduates schooled in the history of major land combat operations. Never have Army numbered Armies like Pattons 3rd, Bradley's First, etc been commanded by a Marine Officer. Although many times, like the battle of okinawa, or the 10th Corpse in Korea, those Armies contained Marine Divisions. Even at the Battle of BellaWood in WWI the 1st Marine Div was just attached to the 2nd US Army Infantry Division, which was part of a larger US Army, and under command of an Army General.
@@semco72057 ,. The U.S. Army hasn't really flown fixed-wing combat aircraft since the Army Air Forces became the Air Force in 1947. ... Ever since, the Air Force is solely expected to provide close-air support, resupply, airborne operations, and pretty much everything else the Army might need fixed-wing aircraft for. The US Air Force is the Army Air Force. Thanks for your service. I was an Army grunt, and flew with the AF many times. We also utilized the German Railroads to move during the Cold War. We drove our own vehicles down lines of flat cars and slashed them down ourselves. Never underestimate the US Army's ability to deploy.

mabuahay
Same video posted twice under different titles. Good work.
I wish i could be on Spark members but I can't afford it, loved this kind of videos, keep it up
In the Engine room, 'the lower ranks'. How very Navy that phrase is. In the RAF that phrase would never be used as its an insult to the technical expertise of the people who do the work
Changing engine cylinder head in rough waters is like walking in a park with Filipino seaman no pun intended💪🇵🇭
HMS Ocean is no longer in the fleet right? It is sold to Brazil
Now the Sao Paulo.
@@Demosthenas Atlântico, the Sao Paulo was the Foch.
Took some photos of her a couple of years ago dockside in Rio. 👍
You’re telling me the British government is too cheap to buy these Apache pilots the four lens night vision that gives depth perception?
How bloody cheap can you be?!? These are the boys! You give em every chance you can! I do t care if it costs me another 300 or 1000 pounds a year.
They do have them there just trained not to use them in case. They do have them
This video is old, the UK sold that old ship in 2018
Awesome ship !!👽
If that Captain had an ounce of class when all the choppers took off and flew by he would've had "Flight of the Valkyries" blasting over the loudspeakers Ah-la Apocalypse Now!!
I want to see the bottom deck. That's where the emergency oars to row that tub are located. They have bench seats down there and they row when no one's looking, usually at night.
Nice and thanks
Whatever America does is Sousi the best for Dina's peace
Was Britain’s biggest ship now it serves on the Brazilian navy
This iw a channel 4 documentary, when the ship was in the Royal Navy
No matter how old this video, the Royal Navy's replacements for the current Helicopter Carriers need to be like Ocean.
Why bother when the 2 new carriers can carry all those helicopters as well as its own F-35's (when they all arrive!)
How many PUBS do they have on board?
What a bunch of lucky buggars,as a Brit that served in the US Navy i can honestly say i wish it were on a British carrier. Our food was nothing like yours, what i would have given for a full English breakfast with bangers and all instead of boring Omelets and bloody chilli mac.I would have loved to do my job as a flight deck supervisor on the Queen Elizabeth
Quote: 'Helicopters need headwind to take off'. So what happens in a war environment? Do they throw in the towel and surrender?
In a war zone they can maneuver the ship to the proper position for take off. At that time they were heading to their destination so they couldn't adjust for flight ops because they had to stay the same route.
I was so surprised the brazilians spoke excellent english
Great British Navy 👍
Wow no jokes or laughing during mess time. Happy crew means happy ship... Take head...
A big name for a small ship.
Sailing off to protect the oil !!
Thanks grate video
My heartiest congratulations and salutes to the beloved people including in the ship. May God bless you and your family and people for ever and always dear friends. everything is possible for you with GOD.
Nice Flyby 💪😍🤩
I love how the british navy keeps alcohol on board for special occations .
What, like evenings?
@@iamthecaptainofmysoul2293 yeah bruh....EVENINGS CAN BE "VERY" special.
@@leomartin1603 They are only allowed 2 cans, so they should choose something like Carlsberg Special Brew or Tennents, or if they are a connoisseur, a couple of Superskulls will do nicely.
Oh!, how the mighty British Empire has crumbled
The replacements for this and the Ark Royal is a lot larger. I am sad they took these out of service instead of refitting them though. They could have served along side the QE class CVs.
@@Demosthenas HMS Ocean was at the end of its life, it was only built to civil standards and had many faults.
Thank you Spark, for changing the title of the video, so it actually is true! I know many people including me were rude, please forgive me that. I'm sorry to the @Spark Team!
An little advice: it doesnt look good if the title says "Brasilian Flagship" and tge description says "Royal Navy Flagship" :) you maybe consider correcting that, so there are no missunderstandings.
Maybe write something like "the ex RN Flagship, which was sold to Brazil and now serves as the Flagship of the Brazilian Navy ..."
Have a great day!
Thank you for clearing this up. I was highly confused lol.
It's an old video, why are you crying? The fact that it's now brazilian shouldn't even be mentioned in the title.
Amazing..
This video is titled incorrect.
The Flagship of The Republic of Brazil is the NAM Atlantico.
It might have used to be the HMS Ocean, but it's not now, and Brazil is not part of the British Empire/commonwealth.
Their ships aren't Her Majesty's Ships.
Shirty brasilians overcompemsating again
Now it's name is "ATLÂNTICO" (cheers from Brazil)
In the American army those helicopter pilots would be Marines on a ship and the army is moved to their new work base by the Air Force and then they would be training in their apache helicopters which would be shipped by C-5 Galaxy to the base where they are training.
Lol
The US Navy has helicopters, and helicopter pilots.
Marines are part of the Navy.
The Army uses whatever it needs to deploy, but deploying by ship is too slow for the Army Quick Reactionary Forces.
In most locations where the US might be needed. (Europe, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc.)
The Army has depots where tanks, attack helicooters, etc. are prestaged, ready to be drawn.
(Meaning they have no oceans on their borders.)
The US Army also has light Infantry Divisions. (7th, 25th, and 2nd IDs)
There are also a couple Independent Airborne brigades.
Nice!
HMS Ocean was not the flagship of the Brazilian Navy when this documentary was made. The video title is misleading, the people in the video are Royal Navy officers maintaining a Royal Navy ship.
It says in the headline that this video was posted 5 hours ago. Well, the HMS Ocean was sold to Brazil over 2 years ago. The HMS Queen Elizabeth, and the HMS Prince Of Wales are almost 3x larger than the HMS Ocean is.
Because this is an old video made for TV over a decade ago?
British navy* BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES🇬🇧🙏🏻
Imagine when they refitted the old World War II battleships like the U.S.S. Missouri, before it was eventually mothballed in 1992. I'm sure it was a challenge to keep the bits that were left over from the 40's maintained...can't modernize everything!
there's probably a point where it gets easier again. you can't even pretend to get gear with the some ins and outs, you just attack it with an armload and see what you walk away with
Excellent video.
5:25 - David Brent the naval officer.
The "F" is British version of Tom Cruise :)

I wonder which ocean garbage patch these killer tomatoes wound up in.
I swear I just watched this video but under a different name lol
U know Breakfast is good when u have a Jamaican as a chef
I think every Commander on the last deployment should get a documentary about them made for them and their ship
Solution to any mechanical issue:
Turn it off then on again
