You seem like you care about the patient. Thank you for that. I haven’t found a doctor who cares in so long. I have a family history of gallbladder problems and I had to chase my doctor down for a month to get my results just to be told “You have a small polyp check back in a year.” My mother nearly died from hers. I have no idea the size, shape anything.
If it is less than a centimetre with no gallstones, it is almost certainly a benign polyp, made of cholesterol and has no consequences but follow up ultrasound is recomended
Very informative, thank you. A couple of questions. What is the likely cause of pain just under the left ribcage after eating fatty food? Is it related to bile? Are bile salts helpful? Is my bile duct likely being clogged after eating due to the polyp (measurements below)? A recent (one month ago) USS shows two non-mobile polyps or adherent calculi, 4mm at the neck and 3mm in the gallbladder body. It says the bile duct measures 4.1mm, normal with no intrahepatic duct dilatation. Everything else on the scan was normal, though the pancreas tail was obscured by bowel gas. I have been noticing problems with digesting fat, and also fruits, for approximately three years. I haven't eaten dairy for many decades as it is poorly digested. I was able to eat coconut milk in foods until the last few years, and now experience discomfort, and sometimes when I have an almond milk hot chocolate, my bowels cramp about 30 minutes later and I need to rush to the toilet with extreme evacuation.
Dear Doctor, this was very informative and helped me to understand my diagnosis as my GP said he really didn't know much about it. I have a single polyp that was found during an ultrasound for something else, no stones. The polyp was measures at 7 mm in Jan of 2020. In April of 2021 the polyp was measured at 8 mm. My doctor recommended removal of the gallbladder which I questioned and we will have another ultrasound in six months. I have no other symptoms and is it just the size of the polyp that dictates the removal of the gallbladder. The polyp is shaped like a teardrop and although it has grown, is 10 mm the definite size to recommend surgery...I am in my mid seventies and would prefer watchful waiting instead of a surgery that I may .not need
Doctor. My recent US showed three gallbladder polyps, largest 5mm and also a nodular density 6mm x 7mm at the fundus. How does the nodule differ from a polyp? The gallbladder was moderately distended. I am symptomatic with discomfort, nausea & occasional vomiting. Recommendation is for re-scan in 6 months. Is this appropriate or should I seek further treatment? Female, 61 years
Hello Sir, Very nice video. Kindly clarify my below query Age - 29 Men, i have been diagnosed with GB polyp since last 5 years 2021 scan observation - small sessile polyps ~2 with largest one measuring 6.6 mm 2022 scan observation - small sessile polyps ~5 with largest one measuring 6.4mm I dont have any notable symptoms frequently facing dull passing pain some times on lower right abdomen
Dear Doctor,Thank you for the very importative video, I just want to ask because found that I have a Gall Bladder Polyp measured 9mm,, Doctors told me for Cholecystectomy as soon as possible..I just want to confirm it is really need to remove also na entire gallbladder,,not the Polyps only..no stones only Polyps I have..Thank you if you will respond my question..
@Clinical Education Academy Thank you soo much, Dr. Abbas. Your lecture is so I informative, rich, and uncannily timely given my recent findings: Two echogenic immobile structures seen attached to total gallbladder wall, largest one measures 6 mm and the smaller one measures 4 mm on nondependent wall, likely gallbladder polyps. No gallstones are seen. No gallbladder wall thickening, pericholecystic edema or hyperemia is seen. The technologist reported a negative sonographic Murphy's sign. - Given this and what I’ve understood you’ve said, I consider I could keep observing the polyps instead of undergoing an immediate cholecystectomy, would you also agree, Doctor? Local surgeon wants to just “get rid of the organ.” I also have a fatty liver but improving. My Age: 58. Still a young pup, I say :) and wanting to be around for a long time to come. Your insights would be worth gold. Hearty thanks in advance. -Marie
You certainly could just do ultrasounds follow up, if you have symptoms, though, it is reasonable to remove the gallbladder, it is usually straightforward
Hello doctor i have 3 adenomyomas in my gallbladder, the largest one is 6.5mm . Last year , they found only one and it was 5 mm. After one year they became 3. I have no lithiasis . What do you suggest about adenomyoma?

Hello Sir. Thus is sourav from India. My age 29. I don't have any gallbladder stone but , I have a single gallbladder polyp in the neck of GB and its size is 7.6mm in june 2021. In February 2020 it was 6.9mm. And in August 2019 it was 6.7mm. I don't have any symptoms but sometimes I feel a sharp pain in that area though it is very rare. What should I do now? Is it anyhow related to the bilirubin level of blood? Thank you.🙏
I also have a polyp in my gallbladder which was found when investigating digestive and IBS symptoms I have. I also have high levels of bilirubin in my blood. I think high levels of bilirubin in the blood stream are caused when the liver is unable to secrete it into the gallbladder, usually due to biliary issues or blockage. This could mean the polyp is causing some obstruction maybe? I'm not a medical professional but that is my understanding from my research. I am currently awaiting a referral appointment with a specialist but I hope there will be some solution to this problem.
Hello sir. I had an abdominal ultrasound in July last year due to right quadrant abdominal pain, and 1-2mm of gallbladder polys was found. My doctor suggested that I should have my gallbladder removed, but I said no, since I was not have having pain any more. He is still insisting that I should have it removed. I asked for a follow up test and he recommended a CT scan of the abdomen which was unremarkable. Please, I need your help. Do you think I should remove my gallbladder because of 1-2mm of gallbladder polys? I am confused, I don’t know what to do. I am still asymptomatic. What do you think doc?
I had pain below my right ribs and right side of belly bottom.. I just had abdomen ultrasound and found that i have a 1.17cm gallbladder polyp. The results doesn't say i have gallstones. Should i get my gallbladder removed or wait 3 months and have ultrasound again?
Sir I have a gallbladder polyps 6mm size my doctor advice me to follow up ultrasound for next 6 months. Is there a possibility that it will disappear? Is there a medecine or something to do? For advice doc.
Hi Professor Abbas. Thank you for the informative video, it has helped me understand my diagnosis. I am a 27 years old South African and I have been having frequent (almost every 2 weeks) serious abdominal pains , vomiting, yellowish eyes and I lost 20kg in 10 months with no excise, dieting or any weight loss programs. I went to see a GP who referred me to a sonographer who found out that I have a gallbladder polyp size 2 x 0.46 x 1.23 cm. Also my gallbladder wall is abnormally thick. Could this be definitely a gallbladder cancer? I probably will undergo cholecystectomy but unfortunately systems in public hospitals in South Africa are very slow. Is there anything you can recommend for me to reduce chances of being sick due to this polyp while I wait for surgery?
