Batman/Onstar Commercial - "Riddle Me This"

- Опубликовано: 11 дек 2018
- This was the last produced spot before the campaign was discontinued. We added a CGI version of the Batmobile into a pre-existing shot from "Batman Forever", added the Riddler's skywriting, performed green screen and rig removal work and various sky line enhancements.

Amazing, he succeeded to catch Riddler without having to find like 150 trophies
It happened off-screen xD
I think it’s like 243

Wow, that dude playing Batman, whoever he is, is pretty good!
Bruce Thomas played Batman in these spots
@@flashfilmworks8832 He had the first names of the Wayne men? Okay yeah he was meant to play Batman
I think that's Kevin Conroy the voice actor of batman the animated series as batman
@@flashfilmworks8832 Bruce Wayne*
@@johnlopez1798 No it’s bruce thomas
2001? This felt like George Clooney driving Keaton's Batmobile fighting Carrey's Riddler haha
I thought the same (the actor even sounded like Clooney in parts). It was a car-raazyy mashup, lol!
@@dannyr2976 nah he sounded like val Kilmer
@@Davidscomix OK, fair enough.
that’s neither looks more like Keaton
@@dannyr2976 Also he's wearing Kilmer's V1 Batsuit for the first half of Batman Forever.
OnStar Batman is literally the best iteration of Batman, Gotham, the villains and costume ever. Fight me.
Dude. I agree that these commercials were great to watch, but the iteration is a carbon copy blend of the Burton & Schumacher films. The Gotham you see here in these On Star commercials were the exact sets from the Schumacher films Batman Forever/ Batman & Robin. The On Star commercials became more popular in between Batman movies that were being released at the time. The costumes/ Batmobile..literally everything here was loaned from the studio warehouse. Nothing original, just borrowed pieces.
You took the words right out of my mouth boy camel Moon good job
I completely agree with you! The actor who played Batman in these OnStar commercials was fantastic! His Batsuit was awesome and they used the Tim Burton Micheal Keaton Batmobile which in my opinion is the best Batmobile we’ve gotten in live action on the big screen. I freaking love these commercials!
The Gotham sets were actually just the Warner Brothers backlot with some CGI trickery... the Batcave set was left over from Batman & Robin, while some actual footage from that film was edited and incorporated into a couple of the spots.
It's just schumacher Batman but with 89 batmobile?
This actually has some budget - it looks like it could legitimately be a scene from a Batman film. They also (unintentionally?) blend the aesthetics of both Burton and Schumacher quite well. _Love it!_ - why can’t we get a Batman TV series with this kind of look + quality??
@Jay The Lego Guy - _Gotham_ was fine until it went off the rails with the ‘Indian Hill’, ‘Tetch virus’ and ‘Magical dagger’ storylines (among others). Season 1 was fairly good but I guess they found a different audience than me in Season 2 and knew that _that_ was the lot they wanted to play to . . . 🤷♂️
Robin Lord Taylor simply stole the show in _every_ season, though 🤣
gotham was good until it became a soap opera like the cw shows
The Burton and Schumacher films where the only ones at the time, and it's easy to assume that for a mere commercial they would only reference the major movie releases. Not cartoons or comics. But perhaps a bigger reason for appearing like those movies is the fact that the bat suit and Batmobile are the actual props from Batman Forever. Iirc, some shots of the city are from those movies too. Perhaps other props and material where reused too.
This is how I imagine batman forever looking if tim burton had full control
There's a deleted scene of Tim Burtons opening of batman forever on youtube
Not necessarily, because Burton had full control in returns and it was more of a burton direction,
@@Davidscomix just to think if tim burton did this movie we would of seen the iconic black and grey suit we would of seen robin Williams as riddler sporting a question mark haircut, billy dee will as 2 face, brad douriff(voice of chucky) as the scarecrow and damon wayans as robin. And we would of seen catwoman return.
@@DavidLopez-yt2yp it was young MARLON wayans casted as robin not the older damon wayans. And I don't think two-face would be in the third as I believe tim burton had said he didn't want "too many villians" again like returns had. It would've been just the riddler alone like how the joker was. There was never any mention of "scarecrow" in the third either. So I don't know where you got THAT from. And tim burton's third batman wasn't to be called "batman forever" but "batman continues."
@@DavidLopez-yt2yp I always wanted to see Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman return in some form. There was even talk of a solo movie for a while, but then the Halle Berry movie crapped all over that possibility with bad acting, a bad story, and a Catwoman that wasn't even Selina!
We credit Bale, Affleck and Keaton but we should also credit On Star Batman. He is the hidden gem of Star commercials.
Imagine crediting Affleck before West.
Yeah, ... NO, on Affleck! 😕
A 49 seconds commercial was better than a 2 hours movie staring George Clooney
George clooney was never batman
When was George Clooney ever Batman? What’s this 'Batman & Robin' that people have mentioned? It clearly doesn’t exist if I can’t find it.
Last time I checked, Batman and Robin is a Tim Burton movie that has Michael Keaton, Mike Vitar, and Patrick Stewart
honestly. HE should have been one of the next Batmen
For sure.
Isn’t he perfect
@@robertferguson5503 quite so indeed
Nah, Nolan is better
These are the commercials you only see once.
Like DANG old commercials had such soul.
Brian Stepanik of Suite Life fame portrayed the Riddler
He’s the voice of Lynn Loud Sr. from The Loud House.
He also played the dad from Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.
@@abeiscool40 I know, right?!
That is awesome!! :D
That's why I recognized him. The not so handyman
If only batman forever and batman and robin were like these and the tim burton films.
You said it
They have the same Gotham
This commercial is dope. #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut
Batman Forever was good film since Tim Burton was only a producer at the time. But Batman and Robin was just Ugh 😂 lol
The actor who played Batman in these OnStar commercials was fantastic! His Batsuit was awesome and they used the Tim Burton Micheal Keaton Batmobile which in my opinion is the best live action Batmobile we’ve gotten on the big screen. I freaking love these commercials! Awesome job!💪🏻🤘🏻😎
He’s wearing Val Kilmer’s suit.
@@overborg Yeah your right. I actually really liked the Val Kilmer Batsuit.
@@archangel5627 yeh me to
@@archangel5627 except for the nipples it was a cool suit
Wow. This was... actually a really good and well produced commerical. The actor for Batman and Riddler were good. The costumes had a good design and they made a good choice with the music
Arwin left being the Riddler off his resume when he applied at the Tifton. lol
This parodied Batman Forever perfectly he even sounds like Jim Carrey
Nah
he sounds exactly like Robin Williams
Now that's how you do the Batman voice
Man Arwin from Zack and Cody does a great Carrey Riddler.
This is what Batman Forever should have been. Would have been a smother transition from Batman Returns
Kind of ironic that the actor who plays Batman in these is named Bruce Thomas. He’s both Batmen in one 😂😂
Nothing says Batman like the classic Danny Elfman theme playing.
Oh yeah. The definitive Batman theme
Is it me, or are all the Batman themes amazing? Like Shirley Walker’s, Hans Zimmer’s, Danny Elfman’s, Arkham Asylum’s, The Dark Knight Returns’s, etc?
@@leolizard3152 As always, R.I.P. James Newton Howard
This is the most 90s thing I’ve ever seen. Trust me, that bubble will never burst. All these little gimmicks are the future!

Gotta give props to the actors here, both do really good impersonations of Carrey and Kilmer versions of the characters.
They really need to bring back the Onstar Cinematic Universe.
they had this kind of caliber of potential to make a epic live action batman tv show and made it a car service commercial....
Unless you wanted the show to be about Onstar, there was no chance of you getting a show of this production quality consistently throughout.
@@Lucifronz "we were this close to perfection" is all I hear when I see this commercial and the snydercut
Yeah... definitely no financial difference from a 49 second commercial to a 2 hour Hollywood movie.
I would love to watch a full movie with this batman
The sets look breath taking
I imagine riddler sitting on the steps of the bank typing out that email to batman as he keeps making typos.
I love that Batman not only has an email but that this Riddler has access to it and instead of hacking it he just sends him riddles.
This 49 second ad was better than the entirety of Batman And Robin and Batman Forever.
It's 50 seconds and no it is not it is equal to Batman and Robin in Batman forever...... Forever😉
Batman & Robin for sure. But Batman Forever? Eh
This Batman doesn't fuck around, he didn't collect any trophies before catching the Riddler.
When these commericals first aired in the early 2000s I was quite baffled because they looked like they would be a movie tie-in advertisement for Batman Forever. But Batman Forever came out a good 6 years prior to this commercial.
This would be a good series
#RestoretheOnstarVerse
Riddler: "It's pay name boys" Batman "Not today."
Actually, I’m pretty sure Riddler says “It’s payday, boys!”
It is. Some People have a hard time comprehending things or they’re just stupid.😏
WTF?! ... you edit your stupid comment & STILL can’t get it right?! (you do know you can hit the replay button as many times as you want to make sure you heard it right, right?)
That is Batman's theme music! I don't care what anybody says. 🙋🏾♀️ love this commercial!

"Oh Batman, Riddle Me This,
All you need to give to me is a pen and a key

The Answer: Car Insurance.
I wish we have more
just in case you didn’t know, there’s 5 other commercials 😃
@@spongebobsquarepants3770 Like what?
Guy in Val Kilmer’s suit, driving Keaton’s Batmobile. Great combo
These are so good!
0:13 they both flow.
These were great commercials with high production value, I wish GM would still run them on TV.
I like how raw the "GET HIM" was
Future generations will be showing this to their children as an example of how they actually respected DC characters once upon a time.
Tim Burton's 89' theme and Batmobile in Joel Schumacher's Gotham City, wearing Clooney's _Batman & Robin_ suit, with the symbol coloured to resemble Keaton's from _Batman Returns_ featuring the Riddler suit from _Batman Forever_ . _Holy Mash up, Batman!_
The Riddler suit seems new. It really doesn't feel like the one from Forever
@@thenoirknight5729 I believe you are correct, the question marks look different compared to Carrey's version.
@@dannyr2976 Thank you. Sorry if my comment seems rude by the way
@@thenoirknight5729 No, not you weren't in any way. Because the props were from the Burton/Schumacher production era, assumed The Riddler suit was too, but upon closer inspection looking at screen grabs from _Batman Forever_ realised there were differences (such as the question mark patterning)
Let’s face it, after the Batman Returns failure, this commercial was a win-win for both companies here.
0:30 Not today
Michael Keaton was not Batman in Batman Forever why?
I know it's not from the Movie.

I would love to see what Burton’s version of the riddler would be like
I agree

Apparently Riddler would have been Robin Williams. So that would have been fairly interesting
@@thenoirknight5729 nah Robin Williams was gonna be the Joker before Jack Nicholson got cast. Michael Biehn was gonna be Batman.

I almost thought this was a commercial for Batman Forever then realized it wasn't.
The costumes in these commercials are amazing
Especially Riddlers ;)
@@RedWelshDragon yeah! Very comic accurate
Riddler is Brian Stepanick! (Irwin from Suite Life)

Batman Adam, you're one of the living!
Riddler actor sure is trying to project that Carrey version that was still very much alive in mass conciousness back in 2001.
Damn. That's a lot of action for an onstar commercial. Like...100% more than normal.
49 seconds absolutely murdered all 4 hours of Justice League.
When Batman says "Not today" he almost sounds like the dude that plays him on the Batinthesun films!
I know it’s totally different, but when I read your comment it made me think of this ... ruclips.net/video/gH-AxXNJ0GA/видео.html ... along with other people who remixed it, also
Yo why does this have the best live action riddler
Edward was trying to horn in on the daily pay, but Batsy was like, "nah, that ain't how that works." 🤣 😂
Well done, The whole man forever theme was really good. The movie has a lot of comfort based potential.
Riddler should have broke into the vault using the huge window on the inside like Batman did.
Wasn't this the delectable Danny Elfman soundtrack? An excellent choice for an excellent guiding ad.
This was honestly better than Batman Forever.
I'm not even mad. I'm impressed
"Alfred, We've got a job to do..."
Can’t believe they got Arwin to be OnStar Riddler
The flames on the batmobile looks like its from batman forever
Never saw that one before .
90's Batman vs 60's Ridder.
Extreme/Groovy!
Took me till he was about to run away to find out that the Riddler was the janitor from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
You know I feel like batman would do these commercials as long as the proceeds were donated to Gotham children hospitals
Riddler’s riddle is entirely clever that a river and money have a bank in common like a riverbank is a land along a body of water and you deposit money in a bank
Riddler: You’re Mine!
I would absolutely pay to see a movie made of this. Make it happen someone.
0:13 I feel even "They Flow" can be a good answer.
0:37 actually decent camerawork

It's all about the attention.
The actor that played the riddler is Brian stepanek he played arwin from the suite life of Zack and Cody tv show
I never seen these in my area!
The tv show we need but dont deserve!!! The right mix of campy and serious make it so warnerzzzzz hahaha
I was on the fence about getting onstar, BUT NOW THAT I SEE BATMAN USES IT SIGN ME RIGHT THE FUCK UP
i think the vault is the same used at the opening scene in batman forever
Starring Brian Stepanek as The Riddler
Give the guy who played the onstar Batman a movie please.
Holy cow that was real?! Peeps at OnStar nailed it on the first attempt!!
This OnStar Batman looks amazing, i mean, I can easily see him in a movie
This feels like a lego batman 1 cutscene
Why did the Riddler tell Batman where he was going if he didn't even have a trap or a plan for the encounter?
Why does he have a better voice of Batman then anyone we have actually seen play Batman live? Like for real, who wants to start a petition to make him into an actual Batman?
several comments on all of these videos basically say they want him in the future as Batman
