- The evergreen romantic voice of Malayalam film songs, playback singer P Jayachandran passed away in a private hospital at Thrissur. He was undergoing treatment for cancer for sometime now.

തൃശ്ശൂർ: ആ നിത്യവിസ്മയ നാദം നിലച്ചു. അനശ്വരഗാനങ്ങളിലൂടെ പാട്ടിന്റെ വസന്തം തീര്‍ത്ത സ്വരം, മലയാളത്തിന്റെ ഭാവഗായകന്‍ പി. ജയചന്ദ്രന് (81) അന്തരിച്ചു. തൃശ്ശൂരിലെ സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയിലായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം. അഞ്ച് പതിറ്റാണ്ടിനിടെ ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ലളിതസുന്ദര ഗാനങ്ങൾ പാടിത്തീർത്ത് 81-ാം വയസ്സില്‍ അദ്ദേഹം വിടപറഞ്ഞു. സിനിമാഗാനങ്ങളായും ലളിതഗാനങ്ങളായും ഭക്തിഗാനങ്ങളായും മലയാളത്തിന്റെ ഒരു കാലഘട്ടത്തെ മധുരമോഹനമാക്കിയ ആ ആഗാധ ശബ്ദസാഗരം ഇനി ബാക്കി.
