I was at Cologne for the first time this year, found it surprisingly difficult to find a good afterparty! Ended up with a little group we scrapped together across the river, drinking beers in the pouring rain. Still a great time though!
I fear that I never be able to experience these kinds of event. I'm that lonely subscriber from Russia, who's watched all the videos you've made since 2020 and than all the previous ones, after RUclips have recommended them. CS was interesting from more of a technical standpoint, of how the maps were made or weapons balanced with spread, falloff, etc. And the competitive side, which interest was lit up after another, Russian RUclipsr announced creation of his own team. Not that I've fanaticised (obsessed) with it, but kept my legs in the water, to see majors played or that said team nearly qualifying to RMRs. On the bright sight, there was PGL Astana event announced, which I hope to attend, if I raise enough money to go there and experience all the days of the event. And if world won't go to complete shambles. But hey, at least I've got my English way better with your videos! Best wishes with your content, Lev
I do enjoy how while talking about the BIG party at 5:58, you show a group of us waiting for the bar opposite to open. Drinks were cheaper, better, and it was dry. Waiting there for an hour or so, then heading to the BIG party was the right call.
watching this in the highest quality, 240p60HDR edit: i know it's still processing, I'm just surprised RUclips decided to serve it at 240p60hdr rather than 1440p, especially given how long HDR takes on YT to process. Some hdr tests I did took a few days to process the hdr copy, but the non-hdr 4k version was available almost immediately
Every year after Cologne I see your videos and remember that you attend these. I always wanted to meet you in person. And when I saw myself on top of the big ESL logo at almost the end of this video, I noticed I was closer than ever this year.
I remember climbing up the Cologne cathedral as an exchange student in HS several years ago and it being almost terrifying how out of shape I felt at the end of it. Getting to the top was so satisfying and rewarding, even if I'm scared of heights and look out the window terrified me even more. I hope to one day use IEM Cologne as an excuse to make that pilgrimage again, Counter-Strike is just a bonus.
This Years Cologne was really special to me as the Sunday was my Birthday and I got to Celebrate it at the BIG Overtime with really good Friends It was also great to meet you and Comacchio on the Saturday and him giving his first Autograph! (It is now Framed with other Things from the event!) The 2 irreplaceable Events in Counter Strike Outside of Majors will always be Katowice and Cologne and I am already excited to jump on a Train ext year to see it again!
I saw 3kliksphilip at a McDonalds in Cologne a few weeks ago. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued eating my Big Mac, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I went to the toilet I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Cheese Burgers in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
It used to be that every time I saw this shitpost, it got funnier. Unfortunately, this broke that trend - I just don’t think anything will ever top the HungryBox version.
I swear it's not because I'm getting old. They keep putting the music louder at every event to the point that everyone has earplugs. Why... Can we not put it lower so we dont need earplugs and can still talk in the back?
Really appreciate the extra work you did to upload the video in HDR. Unfortunately, in the classic YT fashion, it was limited to 360p (albeit at HDR) at the time of release. I watched it anyways but now I am here for the second time and I love it. Hope YT fixes their processing time.
For me it was the first time visiting IEM Cologne, and I must say it was really amazing. I havent watched the pro scene in a while before that but it was easy enough to pick a team and cheer with the crowd. The best part though is actually meeting my 7 mates Ive played with for about a decade and hang out with them during and after the event. We all decided that we'll come back next year aswell and I honestly cant wait :D
This year was my first time at ESL Cologne and it was AMAZING. I will def go next year as well. THE FOOD WAS SOOOOO GOOOOOD as well brit 3kilks. They had hotdogs that were 3x the length of the bread for 4 euros!!

I think german weather has the same unpredictability in August as in July. Just unlucky that it rained, next year you might have 35 degrees. And for the afterparties, depending on what you want there are thousands of latenight bars across the city. The popular areas are just not in the citycenter and are hard to find as a tourist. It is a very big city after all. I think ESL should really do some more cooperations with venues to guide the visitors to the afterparties.
June is pride month, July just happened to be when the pride parade in cologne was happening. Pride parades (in Germany at least) usually span from May to September since major cities try to not lat them happen simultaneously.
