The Tristram theme already had my vote for most deliciously prog OST to date. This cover just made it better, in a way that only Opeth probably could. Tight work. High praises here.
@@GamePlayMetal It also resembles Baying Of The Hounds around 2:30 - 3:00 . Total surprise was adding ending riff from Deliverance, this sounds very cool!
I like to think that Blackwater Tristram was just a forgotten concept discovered 25 years later. Seriously fun though, as someone who grew up listening to a lot of earlier Opeth this is cool. Well done lads
@@GamePlayMetal Same, this is amazing by the way, lot of good references without too many out and out pulled riffs (3:35 is awesome though). If I ever have time away from work to get back to D4, this is going on my playlist!
Man I love when the arranging and performance skills are solid enough to pull this off to where it really sounds like a lost song from Oldpeth (well other than the little references here and there to an existing Opeth motif which to be fair was cool) And of course its cool when this is done well with any band I like lol. Well it sounds like a lost song other than the lyrics to me cos Im not familiar with Diablo. Masterfully done sir
@@GamePlayMetal I would like to think so! for example, the melodic part at 3:46 in "In Mist She Was Standing" from Orchid has a hint of the Tristram theme to it. So it is possible.
When I discovered Opeth 22 years ago, it reminded me sometimes Diablo music, especially on Still Life album. So that's a great idea and an awesome song, makes me miss the good Oldpeth, I find it (unfortunatly) more enjoyable than the Newpeth album... Cheers from France !
Still Life was my first Opeth album and I also struggle with their new stuff (I'm a fan of prog rock, it's not an issue, but I feel they lost something) Et merci, de France aussi ! :p
sick. Accidentally I've recently been going back to Tears Laid In Earth album by The Third And The Mortal and it actually has some pretty heavy Diablo 1 OST vibes if anyone is interested
Wow. I remember the game, wouldn't run on my PC, friend was overjoyed when i gave him my copy. Themes did sound familiar yet strange, BUT: I prefer your version :) WELL DONE, BAND!!
Is there an instrumental version of this available anywhere? I'm gonna mod my diablo 2 install to include it if there is. I do enjoy the full version, but lyrics wouldn't really fit into a video game soundtrack.
Dude, as someone who grew up playing Diablo 2 and is a huge Opeth fan, this is so fucking amazing!
Thanks a lot! I hope for the sake of this video's success that a lot of Diablo fans are also Opeth fans haha 😂
Blackwater Park, is that you?? 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Yes, it's me

"What if Diablo became metal?"
Opeth. It'd become Opeth.
Came to comments to say this. It's literally Blackwater Park.
It's... in the title...
And it sounds like Blackwater Park because I arranged it to sound like Blackwater Park ;)
@@GamePlayMetal Did I forget to say it sounds fucking great!? 😂
@@vanpet1993 Haha you did, so thank you very much!! 😁

I played D2 to still life and blackwater park back in the day and it's just perfect
I discovered Opeth with those 2 amazing albums!

super cool guys!! Stay Awhile And Listen!
tristram and deliverance melodically as one - hands down to such genius \m/
Thank you!! I'm glad it worked so well haha :D
How has this not blown up? Sick job dudes
I mean, it's getting more views than any other video we've ever made in these 4 first days, so I'm not complaining lol
This is so sick!!! My favorite game and metal band, you guys did an amazing job! Also the lore lyrics are awesome 🤘
Thank you!! I'll tell Lilith that, she really did write some cool stuf for this video
Dude this is amazing! Takes huge amount of work to make something like this. Great job!
Thanks a lot!!! Yes I can confirm haha
I had so much fun working with you on this. The final version is epic!! 🖤🔥
You did a terrific job!!! Hopefully this isn't the last time :D
😍😍😍 this arrangement and performance is FANTASTIC!
Thank you so much!
@@GamePlayMetaldo you have tabs for this arrangement ? I would love to learn this one!
This is incredibly well done!! Definitely goes beyond just Opeth influence and I love the 12 string especially!
Awesome. Great. I have no words
This is awesome, there are a ton of little easter eggs in this piece too, like the callback to Deliverance at 5:00 for the outro. Great work!
@@goblinkrunch Thanks! We sprinkled them all throughout for the true fans hehe
Wow this is amazing!!
So good!
There You are again! And it's absolutely magnificent!
That Deliverance section was so good
You are the best person to work with! Can't wait for the next one 🙏
That's too nice haha
@@GamePlayMetal just the truth!
Superb 🙌
Awesome! The second i heard the first note i knew you got the opeth "tone" right.
Thanks! Ebow and Opeth go together like peanut butter and jelly

This fits so well! I have always heard Opeth influences in the d2 soundtrack.
Turns out Matt Uelmen is a fan of Opeth, I wonder if he was back then too!

Never fails to deliver, amazing !
@@hyperspheremetal Thank you my friend!
super sick, very ghost reveries
Brilliant! Love the Deliverance nod. 👏
That Deliverance outro is one of my favorite metal arrangements ever, and it was nicely implemented here.
This is a gladly and unexpected crossover! Great work!!
Thank you! This was a passion project that I've been wanting to do for years
Awesome! People may think otherwise, but this is very creative
This is so Metal.
Love the game, love this interpretation.
You guys have a refined taste of what to blend.. Just incredibly well done once again.
Thank you! Next time we'll mix Fortnite and Justin Bieber, just to mix things up haha (jk)
