That is one hell of a ferreting operation there! I have to say ferritin is one of the most amazing sports and methods of pest control I’ve ever been a part of
What are the names of the dogs and the ferrets? How are the ferrets housed and are they vicious with people? In Queensland it is illegal to keep rabbits or ferrets. The introduced wild rabbit population was almost wiped out, but there are some about now.
My late uncle used this method and described it, so it is wonderful to see the process in action. The dogs look like they are having the time of their life.
superb vid Well done lads. love watching the videos. just hope that there is another SW waiting in the wings to take over in the future when Mr W retires. but looking at his pace in dungarees it's a long time yet, thankfully
Love seeing vids like this were you can sit a watch the dogs and ferrets working and I also love working my own ferrets. My record is a 144 rabbits in one day off an old disused railway bank.
thats good going, our best is 122, but cple o days later had 106, easiest ferreting i ever had, burriers no more than 10 holes, in open fields, but they never came back, the farmer filled all the holes in after we finished.
Me uk you can get locators that go around ferrets neck if kills rabbit to ground down the holein other words he can put locator on search above the ground and collar bleebs tells you were ferret asleep hopehelps a bit
great vid, but would have put a load of purse nets down too, that spade was a bit big for my liking, been out today 14, one with mixy, hope this cold snap stops it from spreading. but good bit o sport there lads well done.
Lovely video! Thanks for posting, can I please ask those more experienced than me a question? I've been into hunting for years now grew up around it. Air rifle and shotgun, but I'm thinking of getting a lurcher. I'm a smallish woman and any wounded rabbits (which is very rare thankfully only had a few in mainly with the .410 as I don't like taking anything but headshots with the airgun which is sub 12ft lb) have been dealt with by my shooting partner my dad, who has taught me the since I was 12 now I'm nearing 30! I've been wanting to get a lurcher for a while Ive been told lurchers, a lot of the time bring rabbits back alive ( my experience with dogs is limited to terriers ratting and spaniels flushing and fetching) I've been shown how to dispatch them by breaking the neck, but I'm worried I'll get it wrong, and hurt them not dispatch humanly. Would a 6ft lb air pistol do the job at close range? Or should Iearn to break the neck? Any advice throughout appreciated! And sorry for all the questions! Good luck hunting all!
Hi Bexs, just get someone to teach you how to nech or chin the rabbits. Once you've got the technique sorted, it really doesn't take much strength to do it. That said, not all lurchers retrieve live to hand.. 👍
Great ferreting well planned out when was this filmed must have been a long time ago hardly any rabbits about now Rhd 2 wipeing them out my friend who's a gamekeeper near Woburn used to shoot 100 rabbits lampin now lucky to get half a dozen won't be long before we have no wild rabbits at all very sad
@@tinkhefferon9934 Myxomatosis goes in cycles and runs with the life cycle of the rabbit flea, since it's introduction in the 1950 it's mutated from A to E but stopped mutating few years back, last year my patch was over run with Coney's.
Amazing, well trained team work with Humans, Dogs and Ferrets doing what comes naturally.

That's awesome. I know some falconers use too talk about using ferrets to flush out game for the hawks to catch
THAT'S A SERIOUS CATCH, BY A TOP TEAM.
Can you eat them after the dog bites them? But a great job.
YES, NO PROBLEM.

Excellent video. you are providing a valuable service. What do you do with all those rabbits?
From the US here. This is utterly fascinating!
Do the ferrets ever run away? Do they ever get lost underground?

Amazing 👍👍
How are the dogs taught to not harm the ferrets?
Fantastic! Not for the bunnies, but hey, that’s how it is.
You earnt those rabbits lads!.
brings back memories i used to purse net had lots of 30s one 40 with just two of us no dogs. there arent the rabbits round here now [west surrey]
Все грамотно сделано, только я бы посоветовал для таких внештатных ситуаций приобрести "ручной земляной бур" - быстрее и легче откапывать будете.
Bravo lads 👏
Good video Simon

He got a tree branch in his eyeImagine how the rabbits feel but those dogs dispatching rather fast,

Is this in europe somewhere? Here i never see such number.

B-b-but it's duck hunting season !
Laddies, is it rabbits ya want, eh! Beam me up Scottie!
6:14 to 6:24 that rabbit was too much for those dogs. It would have escaped if the net wasn't there.
😂
That's why the nets there?
9:44 should be the thumbnail 😎
Could you just leave some ferrets on the land for continuous protection?
skliros no as that is how ecological disasters happen, the ferrets breed, eat to many rabbits and then push the rabbit population away.
Ferrets don't survive in the wild.
@@hetrodoxly1203 where were they before humans were around?
@@skliros9235 They didn't exist before humans, they're domesticated polecats.
