Let's go ASU!!! I'm from AR but been in Texas for 7 years now. I took a huge career leap from Fraud and Deposit Operations in Financial Institutions to now a Functional QA Tester for a software development company. I initially did not have QA Testing experience, but my company gave me grace and saw value in the pre-existing experience I have to help with testing fraud detection software that financial institutions use. I will definitely keep furthering my skillset as I love this more than being in the finance industry. It's dope and I'm blessed to have been presented the opportunity!!
I just signed up for Careerist Manual QA, to start 1/28. I am little nervous about the $$ but saved by signing up for free webinar ( 35% off) then opted for the split payment ( $1850/$1850)- My current field is rife with layoffs- mortgage finance - due to skyrocketing interest rates. However, there are plenty of tech jobs at these same institutions. I am not working now, and I just spent money on this - I am betting on myself and my transferrable skills built up over the years that this WILL work out. Glad I found your channel

Absolutely, multi-person interviews can provide diverse perspectives and insights, which can be valuable in various fields, including tech and athletics.
I hope you’re able to address my biggest concern with this career choice: I like being active physically as opposed to being seated or stationary all day. Testing is interesting to me but how do you as someone who obviously enjoys being active deal with the sedentary aspect of the job?
Hey! It's essential to find a balance between a tech career and staying active. You can incorporate regular breaks for movement, invest in a standing desk, or engage in physical activities outside of work to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Like any other 'desk job' that you do remotely- find ways to take walk breaks- or just walk outside on lunch break if weather is not too bad for about 45 minutes

In my mind I think will the job only last for a certain timeframe. What happens when the tester tests everything and now there is nothing else to test? Are there multiple apps? other software to test? Seems like this work can be over fast. Which also might be why I see sometimes $50/hr instead of an annual salary. Is this job short term?
Software testing can be ongoing as new features and updates are developed. It's not necessarily short-term, but it can vary by project and company. Hourly rates are common in the industry, but full-time positions exist as well. It's essential to explore different opportunities and companies to find the right fit for you.
Yes, as a Manual QA Tester, you'll need to understand and work with code, but you don't necessarily have to be a software developer. It involves testing software applications to ensure they meet quality standards.
Both QA testing and Data Science offer exciting career paths! Consider your interests and strengths, and research more about each field to make an informed decision. Good luck with your choice!
I think that both would work to your benefit. Data Scientist skillset could assist in helping make since of certain code that QA need to understand when testing defects and/or stories. Many blessings and good luck on what you decided to do.
